GPU-163 With the release of the AMD Catalyst™ 12.6 Beta driver (“Catalyst”), AMD would also like to announce that we are moving away from our Monthly Catalyst release plan. Our goal is to ensure that every Catalyst release delivers a substantial benefit to our end users; as we have today with the release of the Catalyst 12.6a Beta. We will still continue with the Catalyst naming convention; Catalyst: Year.Month. You just won’t see a new driver every single month. We are confident that this will only benefit the end user; you’ll only need to upgrade to a new Catalyst driver, when it makes sense.
We would also like to announce the introduction of our new AMD Issue Reporting Form. We made a number of improvements to the older Catalyst Crew Feedback form, making it more comprehensive, ensuring high quality feedback. Feedback is very important in every product company’s life, especially in our fast paced environment. This is not just a check-box for us – we take these reports very seriously. We will review every report posted here and investigate every issue encountered. Please use this form whenever you encounter something worth mentioning.

AMD 12.6 Beta CAP 1

Description:

This release of AMD Catalyst™ delivers support for the latest AMD CrossFireX™ profiles. A separate executable file ensures users have access to the latest set of profiles installed on their PC.

New profiles added to this release:
- Max Payne 3 (DirectX11 version): Improves CrossFire scaling performance
- Krater: Resolves full screen flickering issue

Tearing is no longer observed on the third screen in 3x1 and 1x3 Eyefinity configurations.

Figures I ditch my Eyefinity setup and they finally fix this hot garbage

Figures I ditch my Eyefinity setup and they finally fix this hot garbage

12.4 official release fixed that tearing on my system. Every driver previous suffered from extreme tearing on the desktop. Its completely gone now since 12.4 non beta

When I tested Tri-fire on 12.3 on one monitor, I got a 3dmark11 ~P21000...

With this 12.6 beta driver with 2 monitors, I got a 3dmark11 ~P10000.... pretty much single-card scores.

Yes I made sure it was running in Tri-fire mode. You could see in GPU-Z that first GPU was completely loaded and the 2nd and 3rd GPU were ~60% usage.

12.6 is garbage. I get card 1 at ~20% usage almost like its dead, the other 2 are pegged at 100% (with 11.12 i got 99% across the board) skipping frames, tearing, you name it. It takes so long to even pull up the fucking options screen in a game. I really, really want to ask AMD why they fail so hard. But hey at least now I can log into BF3 w/o BSOD. :D:D:D:D

Although once in BF3, you will notice that its not fucking playable AT ALL with this shit. :(:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I have 2 setups (different cards, motherboards, etc...) and both suck ass with this 12.6 crap. What a joke. Sad really that a company can fail so unbelievably fucking hard. Actually they are making money selling us hardware that doesnt work because they have failure fucking software, maybe we fail?? Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck AMD.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

/golf clap AMD

If you have 3 7970s dont bother with this crap. Honestly, if you are in the market for video cards DO NOT BUY AMD. If you do buy ask yourself why you would subject yourself to this fucking shit.

5 months of shit drivers and then their release to finally address tri fire fizzles, no scratch that, ...... it fucking blows up in my face.

I am so fucking pissed, AMD can blow me. Fuck it I am done.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ User error
Full unstsall drivers , Install cat 12.6 beta , install 12.6beta cap , play games

Maybe I should have made a post like that when the 301.42's wormed their way through my computer. I don't think I'll ever upgrade my drivers again on this 560 ti. Twice while resolving issue I came so close to just biting bullet and ordering a 7850.

No more monthly updates?!?

So... how long do you have to wait for new driver updates now? If Nvidia is going to keep doing it than why not yourself AMD?

AMD is making the right call by eliminating monthly driver updates...it was clever in the beginning but totally stupid now...release drivers when they are ready and not rushed out to meet a 4 week cycle

They FINALLY fixed this:
Disabled HDMI audio when the connected HDTV is powered Off/On.
12.3 - works fine
12.4 - HDMI audio broken
12.5 - HDMI audio broken

12.6 Beta - works again, HDMI audio fixed

Reminds me when the gray screen issues fixed itself during the Catalyst 10/Catalyst 11 days. Just had to wait a few updates.

how can AMD keep fucking this up since 12.1 .....

this has been broken for the last 5 iterations. That's like 5 months.

Despite reporting bugs to AMD, they don't fix it

such incompetence.

if 12.3 worked, they should have left it alone !

As always, 12.6 is working great on my 6950 crossfire setup. I've tested BF3 (single monitor, CF), Dota 2, Diablo 3, Skyrim (eyefinity, CF), Tribes Ascend, and League of Legends so far.

AMD Radeon HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800 Eyefinity/Multiple Display configurations BSOD when using desktop applications.
FINALLY! This would happen to me at least twice a night.

It's funny 'cause I used to dump on AMD and their sucky drivers when I had never owned anything other than NVIDIA because I was young and too dumb to know any better (ah, me of 5 months ago. seems like yesterday)

And then, 296.10 went and flat-out broke sleep/monitor detection and fucked up my displays every time I turned off only one monitor. (not fixed until 300 drivers months later)

Now, I'm just equally pissed at both driver teams. Hope AMD from here on out at least gives me less to bitch about.

12.6 will never be official.

they will get WHQL certification a couple times a year.

either use the betas, or wait for a couple months until they choose to make one WHQL.

this one is super stable.

zero problems with any of my games on 7970.

Johnny26, troll much? Your prior post looks like a pre-teen with crayons.

all of your posts in the whopping 56 days you've been on here have been derogatory...banhammer coming perhaps?

you have system issues, its not the cat.

Every site ive seen has very few issues with this and xfire..

who here has an intel sandy bridge laptop with amd graphics?

when you switch over to amd gpu, are your clocks still stuck at idle?

"Disabled HDMI audio when the connected HDTV is powered Off/On."

Excellent news.

tearing is gone in 2d/3d but im still seeing flickering on my one dvi monitor when in desktop/eyefinity mode

Major PEBKAC here.

I'm using FOUR, 4X 7970, Quad-Fire, and 12.6 beta is working fine with Eyefinity 3X 30'' LCD at 7680X1600.

Every game I tried since yesterday (over 20) is working fine with those new drivers. Super stable for me.

Can finally ditch the old RC11 now. :D

Sounds like good news to me. These drivers have worked great for me so far. I was getting odd artifacts in skyrim and occasionally in crysis 2 thought my card was possibly defective but these seem to have resolved the issue. Wish I would have known before I ordered a 680.

The Mac,

1. How many cards are you running? Are you running Eyefinity with 3 or 4 cards?

If you are running 1 or 2 cards with Eyefinity then you will not experience the same issues.

Appears that you are running 1 card. 1 and 2 cards have never been an issue.

2. Please point out which of my posts have been derogatory aside from my earlier post on this thread directed at AMD not anyone on this forum. When you say "all posts" its dishonest. Dont lie and make stuff up. I encourage you to re read all of my posts. And yes I have been here 56 days, whats your point?

I posted here initially because there were users with the same issues months back who I thought I could share information with as people using 3 and 4 cards are a small % of users.

If I get the "banhammer" as you put it fine, I wont cry. I wont run from or hide, I said what I said because after 5 months and talking to AMD over the past couple of days and being told that the problem would go away it hasnt. I have been troubleshooting with AMD for months now on multiple setups. I have been emailing their driver team back and forth for months and have been on the phone with them. I came here to post updates to let other tri / quad fire users know. My apologies to anyone whom I may have offended but I am a big fan of keeping your word.

3. No troll here, I actually like all the smiley faces.

4. No setup issues, driver issues....

I have 2 different setups....

The first is an Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z, 2700k, G SKill Ram, Corsair AX1200 running 3 Reference Sapphire 7970s and/or 3 XFX Black Double D 7970s

The second is an Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 3930k, G Skill Quad Channel, Corsair AX 1200 running 3 Sapphire OC Edition 7970s.

If I have setup issues then I would assume others would too?

12.6 betas may be smooth with 1 and/or 2 card setups but with 3 its not very playable with BF3. I installed 12.6 to no avail, moved back to 11.12 and no issue. Why would AMD not ensure their product works with one of the major PC titles currently on the market that actually supports Eyefinity? AMD stated to me a couple of days ago that 12.6 beta would resolve the issue.

5. I contacted AMD this morning.....

Rep 1: Known Issue, wait for drivers to be certified and then we will release another CAP to address the issue.

Rep 2: Wait for certification, known driver issues with Tri Fire, be patient. And they requested that I try out Diable III and provide feedback using 12.6.

Both stated they are having driver issues and that I should roll back to 11.12. How is this acceptable after 5 months and $500 per card? Thats the best response they can give tri and quad fire users.

Sadly having random freezes with the 12.4 and 12.6beta in WoW. reverted to 12.3 to see if it solves anything. I think the last driver I had installed trouble-free were the 11.12 (release) ones.

starting to wonder if I should give Green a try...

Really? Still no Tri-Quad.. Oh my god. AMD has really killed PC gaming for me. I really cant seem to find the energy to pull my water cooling rig apart to sell off the 4 7970s at a huge loss and lose more money buying up 680 4GB cards. jesus christ.

Ok wait.. i guess i'll have to try these tonight as on guru3d theres one guy with tri-fire 7970s and he says there fine. Prob half the battle is that people are messing up there windows using driver sweeper. I'll do a standard driver remove and install and if its not working fine i'll go for a fresh install.

Honestly, if i was to buy anything new again i would just go with 3 cards or just 2 dual cards as 4 never was worth the money other then benching and that isint worth it to me.

Just want to say I have trifire 7970s and have 0 of the problems you do with both 1 monitor and eyefinity. Your registry is probably a mess from uninstalling and reinstLling. Either way the problems are not the drivers and clearly your computer

as i said before, there are lots of other people on other sites with xfire/trifire with no problems with this beta.

as the post above suggested, your reg hive is probobly a mess, I would do a fresh OS install...

Really? Still no Tri-Quad.. Oh my god.

Do you read other posts in here before posting?

I'm in Quad-Fire, 4X 7970 and Eyefinity 3X30'' (playing at 7680X1600) is WORKING FINE IN EVERY GAMES I HAVE TRIED YESTERDAY, OVER 20 DIFFERENT GAMES.

Before 12.6 beta, only RC11 was working. 12.6 beta is WORKING with Quad-FIIRE, so IT WILL WORK with Tri-Fire.

Sorry for the yelling. But wanted to be sure you, and all ther other not reading, read my post before going on with the usual whining about AMD drvers... :D

Do like me. Install the drivers and try them, and see for yourself if they are working or not with your set-up. It's working fine with mine.

I'm getting pretty poor performance in ME3 eyefinity using 12.6 beta. Going back to 12.4 for now....

make sure D3D triple buffering is enabled with d3doverrider, radeon pro. or att.

even non eyefinity setup suck without it enabled on ME3
