Ivy Bridge OCing, and H80 vs H100

Hi all,

This seems to me to be an interesting question: Do I want an H80, or H100 on Ivy Bridge? Since they use the same pump I believe, and Ivy Bridge generates less heat overall, will I benefit from an H100 over an H80? I haven't seen anyone compare the two.

I'm looking to pick up a Silverstone FT02 case, and wouldn't mind moving to something that didn't have 800g hanging off the motherboard like my Megahalems does.

Can the H100 or H80 get better performance than my megahalems, while remaining quieter? Are my NF P12s of any use with the Corsair coolers?

Thanks!

Not too sure about the Megahalems, but from what I've seen, the NH-D14 is better than the H100 at the same noise levels. The H100 has the advantage of being able to spin up to 2600 RPM, while the NH-D14 maxes out at 1300 or so.

With the FT02, I would get the H80 because it would simply look cleaner. The H100 doesn't have a pre-made spot for it to go on the FT02.

The DH14 is out, since it will have clearance issues and weighs too much, IMO. I don't like large heatsinks hanging from the PCB given I move my PC around some. I'd rather have that metal anchored to the case, which the H100 and H80 do :)

Will the 80 be an improvement over the Megahlems in any major way? (guessing not really)

Thanks!

You probably won't see to much of an issue over the megahelms but as tsumi suggested the H80 would be a better choice then the h100.

I would have to say no, not really. As many people point out, the all-in-one units do not equal watercooling, even basic watercooling. It's equivalent to high-end air.
