Hey

Is anyone aware of a 15" LCD monitor that has a horizontal resolution of 1440p? I am trying to achieve a PLP setup with a 27" 2560x1440 and I am having a hard time to find any...

I think the only time I have seen that is in the 15.4" Apple MacBook monitor, I know that EVGA has the InterView dual 17" with 1440x900 resolution though. You might be able to mod some of the MacBook replacement panels if you can figure out a way to mount them and have the technical knowledge.

Yeah, I have been thinking about that as a last stop measure. Its a bit tricky to put a laptop panel into a monitor setup due to controller cards, power etc. Its doable but tricky and expensive...

Ok seems to be doable, with a matching panel+LVDS controller it seems quite straight forward. The biggest issue is to find such a pair, however since I am ok with buying them both new it should be easy.

Of course cost wise it'll be around 100 for the panel+20-30 bucks for controller card+power brick, then in addition one needs a mounting frame so it'll come out close to 200 bucks for one monitor.

Probably easier to go 30"+20" sides, just need a good 30" monitor...

Thanks for the offer and Ill keep it in mind but atm im tossing different ways on the matter. Just bought a 27" would be silly to jump ship so soon since I am very happy with it.

Hi guys, hope this might help anyone looking for a PLP setup with 27" 2560x1440
i have the imac 27" which i connect to my pc as a display.
to flank them i use 15.4" 1440x900 laptop lcd replacements, they fit perfectly and more over the bezel is super thin. thinner than any other screens. almost non existant. Of course there will be some colour differences but the controllers allow you to adjust the colours like a regular display so hopefully that will get you close to your 27" screen. My apartment is small hence a plp setup works best. otherwise i would have gone triple 27". only gripe is finding a way to mount the monitors . i have them rested on my bose speakers and held in place with blutack like sticky stuff. bought them off ebay, called black magic.

to connect the lcd screens to the computer i bought this

just tell them the model of lcd you're using and they program it for you. you will also need a psu unit which they sell. everything costs about £100 per lcd.

Displays: 27" imac + 2x 15" 1440 x900 laptop replacement screens
Display Config: PLP
GPU: sapphire hd 7870
Processor: i5 2500k
Case: silverstone sg05

Seems the ebay posts are gone, can you pose the sellers information instead or a link to their ebay site?

Great looking setup as well and it cost less than I thought it would, good work!

I'd love to see a build log or at least more information/pictures of how you did that. that simply looks amazing, and being nearly bezel-less looks great!

Try searching Ebay using these terms:
