EVGA GTX 690 is live on Newegg

They're going to sell out quick too so better order one now if you want it. 12 left in stock

EDIT: 7 left in stock

EDIT: Now 4

Im ordering mine now because I like being taken advantage of by the Egg.

$1200! Just fucking WOW!!!

I never thought Id see the day when there were $1200 video cards. Funny thing is, how much you wanna bet these things sell like hotcakes.

Who the hell would buy it at 1200$? Its an awesome card and all, but jesus.

I just dont get why someone would pay 200 dollars over GTX680sli for less performance at stock...

Time to cancel my Newegg membership and go look for another supplier. Built my last 4 computers with parts from them totaling a bit over 10K. Guess I'm going to have to get a second gtx680 afterall. Not from Newegg though.

Lower power consumption, less heat produced, and some mATX boards and smaller cases don't have room for SLI. Couple those factors with it just looking sexy and there you go.

If I had enough money to spend $1200 on video cards I would be doing much funner things with my life.

Why? Because you were too slow to buy one? Obviously they weren't over-priced, as they sold out in 7 minutes.

People spend huge amounts of money on high-end OEM desktops and lapatops all the time that cost much more than a custom build PC so ponying up an extra $200 to get the GTX 690 over two GTX 680's isn't that much of a stretch. Just think of all the people that have bought Extreme Edition CPU's in the past for $1,000 when they could get nearly the same performance out of one of the $300 models.

Ya know, Ive stopped saying things like this because while I used to agree with this sentiment there is one thing Ive learned in my 40 years. Everybody is into something that nobody else is. Everybody is a nerd about something. I dont think there is anything wrong with somebody dropping $1200 on something theyll love. People spend a lot more on that on a set of golf clubs or fishing poles. There is a guy on a car audio forum I frequent that collects flashlights! One man's stupid pastime is another man's passion. ;)

They also only had around 10 cards total.

Stop defending newegg for price gouging by 200$, no matter what you say its not justifiable.

Nope. I was ontime for a change. Just pissed off. I know, law of supply and demand. Just not used that Newegg is pulling crap like this. Money enough in the bank but not hungry enough. I'll wait.

So you think theyre happy that theyre out of stock and potential customers are having to go elsewhere?

I work for a beer distributor and we carry mainly imports and craft beers. Sierra Nevada comes out with a early spring beer every Feb and March and the stuff flies off the shelf then we run out of stock. People start bitching at us for not ordering enough stock but it doesnt work that way. They only put out so much then we're allotted a certain amount. When we're out, we're out. I bet its the same way here. There are only a certain amount of GTX690's out there and Newegg got as many as they could. And its not price gouging if you sell out in 5 minutes.

It's price gouging when people camp retailers to snap up the available stock, even at a slight markup, because they know that dozens, no make that hundreds, of impatient greedy fuckwits await their 100% markup on ebay.

Just be thankful you don't live in Europe and have to pay VAT on all of your purchases. Then you'd really have something to complain about.

Give me a break man. I'm well aware of supply and demand, and their qty was small enough that they would have sold out in 10 minutes whether they charged 1200$ or 1000$...they only had around 10 cards. Obviously they decided to price gouge by 200$ and thats a scumbag move, period.

Since you think its perfectly okay, its not any different than the stores that were charging 10$ for a bottled water in NOLA after hurricane Katrina. Totally justifiable

The difference is that you need water to live in the aftermath of a hurricane. You don't need a GTX 680, disaster or no disaster. That is a truly idiotic analogy.

Newegg is in the right to charge whatever they want. It's my right to take my bussiness somewhere else. I like to buy from vendors that treat me fair. I was looking forward to buying this card and seeing it on sale for $1200 leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Not a good way to continue a 10 year customer relationship. Newegg sets the tone and the rest will follow suit.

The only idiot is someone who would pay 200$ more for no apparent good reason. I bet the newegg execs are truly laughing right now though, its cool.

Was the initial price $999.99? It doesn't surprise me that NewEgg applied a markup. I remember they also marked up the 8800GTX for brief period.

(Yes I have a long memory regarding markups)

And what about the idiots on ebay that are paying 2000? Do you expect Newegg NOT to mark them up when they know full well that 90%, maybe even 100% of the cards they just sold today are going right up on ebay at a humongous idiotic markup?

It's one thing to profit off of someone else's misfortune of not having water or food and it's a completely different thing for a merchant to capitalize on a hard to get item in high demand and limited quantity that is a luxury item you do not have to have if you're not willing to pay more for your self enjoyment.

I bet you feel the same way about oil prices huh? I bet you scream for joy when exxon posts record profits. Gotta do your part. Anyway, I don't care for businesses that are unethical and try to take advantage of a situation. You can gladly be a sucker and pay it though, peace.

Oil is something that has become a necessity in our society today in order to be able to go to work and school or just the market to buy some of that food and water so it's not something we can currently live without. That is nothing like a luxury item which includes $1,000 graphics cards, $50,000 sports cars, and that $500 pair of jeans.

What an absurd argument. I'm against gouging and absurd markups as much as anyone else, but the market is driven by forces that individuals simply cannot control. If people are going to pay 2000 for this video card, people are going to charge that. One way or the other.

I'm not sure what you guys expected. Want to be mad at somebody? How about the people who ate these up and sent Newegg the message "you can mark it up 20% and we will still buy it!"?

Agreed, but I still think you dug yourself a whole comparing a video card, something we obviously can live without, to a bottle of water that can make the difference between life and death. Irritation is the former situation, blood-lust rage the latter.

I had tons of respect for newegg.

They failed big time in my eyes.

Rather than getting angry I decided to simply profit. Its not my fault people are paying 2000 for this video card. I want one myself. I'd pay 1000 to own one. But not 1200. CERTAINLY NOT 2000. But people are paying 2000 for it. Whose fault is that? NVIDIAs for not supplying enough? Or the market, for being stupid, rich, spoiled, and totally unwilling to wait for supply to catch up with demand?

Capitalism right here. This is what the USA is all about. Nothing to see here.

THANK YOU. I don't agree with it, but I will exploit it, because it has fucking exploited ME most of my life.
