I'm not sure if you are trolling, or just ignorant of what the word "fork" means in computer terms.

iOS is based on the darwin kernel (same as OSX) which is based on the bsd kernel, and android is based on the linux kernel with a java-like virtual machine. The only thing these 2 kernels have in common is they are unix compatible (but neither is unix based)

As far as user interface goes, palm had a touch screen with rows of icons long before android and iphone existed.

If you want to talk about ripping off features, who had multitasking first? who had removable storage first?

Important thing to put this into perspective, these quotes were in the 80's, intellectual property laws changed in the 90's thanks to Disney, now people own ideas and no one is free to improve on them unless they want to get sued.

and my friends and his comment are related by respecting the dead. It does not matter who it is. I could hate the living the fuck out of you but if your son or daughter died I would not be sitting there cracking jokes about it, think about it for a minute and realize that I speak for everyone not just my own losses. If there are things that this country shouldn't lose, it should be respect.

I agree that my comments are not much better but I am sick and tired of people standing up for stupid shit. I.E. the "slain teen" from Florida but then saying a man who died from cancer deserves it. What this gentleman's views are who knows but what I'm saying is if you can't "flame" a post here then why can you sit here and talk about sticking shit up another mans ass?
 
I see little difference in disrespecting the dead and not caring about whether someone lives or dies (even if one thinks they're 'worhtless'), but to each their own.

Android is a piece of shit the same way Linux was and still is a piece of shit that no one outside the sysadmin office care to know anything about. I gave up on both and open-source in general quite a while ago.

Windows won the desktop and by all intents iOS is winning the mobile space. These companies make outstanding products and when Google decides to do the same and maybe be a little more original this time around instead of just buying the first startup with a mobile OS then maybe they will be allowed to be compared to the big boys of software, Microsoft, and hardware, Apple.

You don't have to like what I say but do know this is how it turned out in the end.

Oh and about Steve Jobs - you DON'T have to like the man... but you SHOULD RESPECT what the man did for this industry. I'm a real life developer and let me tell you this: iOS completely changed the game.

Uh? iOS development is a "get rich quick" myth to attract developers. The only way to get money with it is to have some "get riche quick" wannabe pay you to develop.

And overall, his influence has been extremely negative to the computing industry.
 
P.S. Apple was suing people over patents, copyrights, and rights long before the Disney's impact on copyright law. They sued a company called Franklin for copying the Apple 2e, back when I was in grade school. Think they sued Atari over their OS, or at least they sued Digital Research over it.

Fact: Apple and Steve Jobs were suing people long ago...

I think they have made some good products, no doubt their marketing is great, but they dont invent shit. They are good packagers of technology.

and then they get compared to MS all the time, guess what...MS has both a consumer brand and a business brand. The technology advancements MS makes in the business space are huge. Apple doesnt have ANYTHING there.

actually I do hate the taskbar, I hate the one button mouse. I dont hate everything apple but I cant stand the arrogance surrounding everything they make.
 
I abhor itunes & have an android phone, but in this particular case Jobs is right though... he did get ripped off... I just use android cause I hate the iphone more & windows phone is just too far from anything...

That was mostly Steve Jobs' personal arrogance manifesting itself in company decisions. Maybe with a new CEO that doesn't have an ego the size of a planet, apple can get a little more down to earth. Then again, arrogant elitism seems to being the main selling point of many apple products, especially the macbook

That left side of that pic covers something like 15 years of cell tech, Including a star-tac and an n-gage gaming handheld (not really a phone), the right side only covers the last 4-5 years, and only includes touchscreens which all have, by necessity, roughly the same shape.

Theres only so much you can do with a 3.5 inch screen and 4 buttons. If anything, all the modern phones look like palm pilots

the first iAnything was seen on the debut episode of StarTrek the Next Generation back in 1987 as one was handed to Captain Picard. They continued to use trekpads thru Deep Space Nine and Voyager... and long, long after they were off the air Steve Jobs claims to have come up with the iPad

so.. not only did he not invent, create or even think of an iPad originally he also didnt put flash on it. omg.. grrr... such a loser
 
Wish there was someway to add the Angrybirds theme to that picture. FYI. PADD or Personal Access Display Device, which had limited internal storage (for the 24th Century), but acted more like a cloud device directly connected to the ships super (uber) central computer; in other words a knock on iCloud. In Star Trek Enterprise which takes place 200 years before this they have them aswell and was also pre-iPad. If Apple could patent the wheel and charge every one for it, they would.
