What’s the best thing to do if you get arrested for posting sexually explicit images of a 14 year-old girl on Facebook? One thing is for sure: you don’t want to get back on the Internet and brag about it on Twitter. The next move he should make is to taunt the police by challenging them to try and arrest him.

"Sadly, it would appear that arrest and a police warning have done nothing to teach this young man a lesson."

It is very sad that our young people are exposed to such pornography, but as you are aware it is one of the evils of modern technology
The technology isn't evil, the guy who posted that shit is the one who is evil.

So what, now we should ban the Internet, just like firearms, because, you know, inanimate objects are evil.

She was 14. Isn't that ENOUGH?

What is wrong with you. It was a 14 year old girl. I know this is [H] and all but man, I don't think were into that kind of stuff here....

Waiting for the +10 years later update on this lad, when people hold up that newspaper clipping @ 14 years old when they do the 'not hiring you for the lulz, umadbro?'

Joseph's comment wasnt funny but the countless Pedobear picture postings are humorous? Geez people, quit taking postings here so seriously

Everyone has differing levels of humour, whoopity.

Anyhow, a lot of issues are coming up with technology/old laws with respects to this subject. Eg if a girl or boy takes pics of themselves its riduclous amount of trouble they can get into leading to permanent reprocusions.

Which is very different from the intent on the laws.

Although this kid is just a dirtbag, publically posting private matters regardless of the situation is uncalled for. I doubt he changes as he grows up.

..because we grew up under laws that set legality at 18 years of age. Not condoning child pornography at all, but 14 years of age use to be a legit age for marriage to another similarly aged male who 'just became a man'.

Then over time, due to wholly unknown causes, seems like nations began to define the legal age of 18 as a standard for 'adulthood'. I think in Mississippi/Arkansas/nearby states allow marriage at age 15-16 as long as parent consent is given.

@Xae:

The law does stipulate that a publication ban as well as identity censoring are mandatory for minors, there is no legal gag-order for the juvenile themselves. The teen, if disclosed the information at his own discretion and recorded by the media, there is no legal statute that forbid the said teen's disclosure to be tranmitted, although the teen's claims would be only that, claims, as the court will never deny nor confirm the claims from the juvenile.

This however, does mean that the said teen, a decade later, cannot truly be held liable for what he disclosed to the public as a teen, with plausible denial over even the identity even. That does not mean that the general public is barred to try the former adolescent in the court of public opinion (the general public can try him even now), just that the public will never receive a sliver of legal judgement to support the public findings.

Hits too close to home, eh?
Well it isn't a joke when it comes to human trafficking and how great a problem it is in all reality.

On the other hand, not sure what to think since age 14 used to be a perfectly legal age to get married at. It is only that society (or societies) have been toned to think anything before age 18 is strictly off-limits "OMG UR GONNA GET RAPED IN PRISON".

On the other hand, maybe they should up the legal age from 18 to 24 or later ... you know, some point where the majority of society begins to realize maturity. (I admit 24 might not be an accurate pick for that.)

No matter what number you pick, it's still going to be arbitrary. I know 18-year-olds who are more intelligent and behave more maturely than some 35-year-olds.

That being said, I suppose 18 makes "sense" since that's about the age that most kids finish high school and move on (and usually move out) to college and have a lot more shit to be responsible for.

People want a larger window to have kids, so 24 is unlikely. To be honest, fewer people should be having kids. I guess they enjoy having to slave away endless hours at oppressive workplaces. :p

This thread needs a picture of Pedobear with a caption that says, "U MAD BROS?"

kid is an idiot. I have good money that says this won't be the last we hear from him in respects to stupid moves.

That said, responsibility is a two way street. Let us not forget the 14 year old girl is "Just As" guilty for being a dumbass. It sort of annoys me how the girls always get proclaimed the "innocent victim" and the guy is 100% at fault. Is the guy a dirtbag? yes..however the pictures never would of existed if she simply exercised some modesty.

Age of consent is 16 in quite a few states in the US, and Canada until 2008 was 14:

Some girls have menarche at 8. Makes me a little ill thinking about it, but I'm sure I have someone that young in my family history somewhere back in time. No doubt we all do. I too, get a little bothered by how much press coverage things like this garner in the grand scheme of things and daily events in third-world countries. Out of sight, out of mind -- chances are the smaller countries aren't wired enough to post it on Facebook and Twitter amirite?

However, joking about death/murder is apparently OK :) Violence: Yes. Sexuality: No.

Why is this kid even in trouble? He was 14... its not like hes sexually abusing the girl, which is what these laws are intended to protect underage kids from.

Lock up the prosecutor for being stupid.

some where theirs a Polaroid of my first gf that i took when i was like 13 and she was the same back in the day when i got a hold of my dads camera, so wonder what happiness if some one finds that pic will that make it cp?

Being brought up on charges for this kind of thing is idiotic in itself, but the news coverage is the worst part. They made him a "legend" by covering this story, and he did nothing special. I'm certainly not one to suggest government regulation, but I think there should be someone looking at news stories before they air/print, and asking the important question... "Is this sensationalizing the very act that should be seen as disgusting?"

I would imagine there would be far fewer school shootings if this were the case... Do you think a depressed kid watching the coverage of the Columbine shootings thought anything except "Wow, those kids actually did it, and look at the attention it's getting! Look how sorry everyone is that messed with these kids!"

Nside: I don't think it's bad for the press to report this, as the act of sensationalizing isn't something that the media themselves can really achieve, but that the community has the urge to sensationalize it...

Another thing is that... Cho of VTech and Goh in Oikos don't really act on the same vein as Columbine...
