Finally got my hands on ATT Lumia 900.

If you have any questions about the device, ask away :)

How much of a pain in the rear is it to remove the SIM card?
Does it feel too large?
Which color did you get?
How's the battery life?

1. I still haven't figured it out lol... I'm using it via WIFI right now.
2. It is about the same size (cut 3mm off top and side, little smaller) than htc titan 4.7". I think it's fairly good. It's little heavier, feels more solid, better build.
3. Black
4. On WIFI only, very good. I'm sure when I put in my 4G sim in there (lol I can't believe I still haven't figured out how to open the damned thing), it will be longer.

I swear I can remember reading somewhere that the SIM slot was on the top or some such? I don't think the unit comes apart per se, there has to be a slot somewhere on the exterior since it's a unibody design.

the top has 2 flaps, slide one open for the usb charging thing, the other one is a 'press on the opposite end' to open it, and your microsim should go in there

Found the microsim thing. Had to use a needle to pop it.

The usb charging port is not under a flap anymore though, it is just open.

I messed around with a couple 900s at SXSW. The camera is no better than the 800. The phone is pretty big and heavy too.

Little heavier than HTC Titan.

HTC Titan 2 on the other hand feels like a brick compared to Lumia.

Feels solid to me, camera is better than 800. The FFC is amazing.

Will probably wait till it actually shows up at the ATT stores before making a purchasing decision. Bit of a bummer since in my past experience with ATT the phones would arrive at the store like a week after they started selling them online but size matters, except with gadgets it's the other way around, you don't want to carry a kindle in your pocket.

AFAIK, ATT Stores should be getting demo units right now. Release is 2nd week of April.

Have you compared the camera to a Lumia 800 with the 12070 update? My 800 with the 12070 update seemed to be taking as good or better pictures than the 900s I played with. Before that I owned a Titan, which was lighter and thinner. The 900 is definitely a brick, but heavy phones don't bother me. The one thing I didn't get a chance to test is headphone control compatibility. My stupid Lumia 800 doesn't recognize standard headphone controls and mics aside from some Bluetooth sets and the pair that came in the box (which are crap).

Is it scratch resistant and easy to clean? You think it'll do fine without a protective case?

I DISLIKE case, but had to get one for my T-Mobile HTC G2 because the edges started to turn yellowish after a couple of weeks and couldn't clean it off.

And one more question that is not related to the phone... Is there an equivalent to Google Sky for Windows Phone?

Thanks!

I've used SkyMap on my DVP without issue. Not sure if it does the same thing as Google Sky but you can look at the app description and see if it's something you could use.

Seems to be scratch resistant. It feels like it is inside a case already with it's polycarb unibody. I don't think it needs a case.

Does it still have the "ACTA" bug? - some series of letters/numbers/symbols showing up in text/facebook coment, mail or such will freeze the phone, and it needs to be sent to tech support for reset. Reset will also result in erasing all user data - contacts, mail, documents, files. This bug appears in Lumia 800 and is not a phone, but rather Windows feature... was also named ACTA-text bug, because it could be used, after introduction of ACTA/SOPA to deactivate phones which had some content that was breaking those agreements.

Haha can you provide a link to that? I've never seen anything on the other tech sites about a text bug requiring you to send your phone in to be officially reset (contacts/mail are sycn'd with Hotmail/Live accounts by default, docs/files can be set to sync with SkyDrive by default as well... so it's not the end of the world if you brick your phone).

http://www.squidword.com/2012/03/nokia-lumia-800.html, just search for "SMS" and it will get you to it.

FWIW, went to the ATT store today, manager told me that the phones will be in store on April 8th. The demo units are only available to employees and will not be on the floor prior to official release.

Yep. They already have them in stock. Was talking to a manager at a local store and he had a Lumia as his "personal" phone.
