I'm sure we all have seen 2 and 3 monitor setups but what about something like 10 or 2 rows of 5 wide screens wrapped around the player in a 180 degree setup. I guess this could be done wit 5 video cards with dual output but would the game be able to render/understand what would be shown on those screens? It is hard to word but I hope you get the meaning.

What do you think?

Radeons can support 6 screens, and to each output you could attach a Matrox triple-head adapter for a total of 18 displays. I'm not sure even Quadfire would make that playable.

And if you were to run each Radeon separately, you could have 72 displays.

ati for eyefinity demo in the 5xxx series ran 24 displays. Displayport supports daisy chaining up to 4 displays per channel, obviously special hardware was used for the monitor hookups as displayport isnt even adopted fully yet, never mind daisy chaining

i personally dont dig the multi display deal at all unless you do it projector style, the separation between displays drives me apeshit, i run dual monitors for the 2d aspects not 3d

AMD itself demonstrated a 24 monitor setup during their original Eyefinity presentation in 2009. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6Vf8R_gOec

7970CF is claimed by AMD to allow 7600x1600 gaming in some titles. For higher resolutions you would have to look at triple GPU setups.

Same. Until they come out with bezel-less displays there is no way I would go multi-monitor for gaming.

I'm assuming they're using the 1.5 GB 580s...in which case yeah, 1.5 GB is not enough for that kind of resolution, lol.

Yea, they will call them higher resolution displays ;) the industry has been slacking. theres no way to seamless a monitor without weird optics which will equally drive me crazy *shrugs*
