Meh I split my purchases. Always go to newegg to get a nice starting price and it usually isn't beat.

What if Newegg offered their own version of Prime shipping? Would you guys go for it?

thisI used to be a huge Newegg advocate, telling everyone I knew that was the place to go.
Yes but the point is you still PAY for Amazon Prime. If you do a lot of buying on Amazon then it's great but I hate it when people just blindly say "you get free 2 day shipping at Amazon". I agree it's a great service if you do enough business on Amazon but some don't. And where did you get Prime for only $40????
PS: I can find plenty of deals at Newegg with free or low cost shipping as well. I think in the last 3-5 years I've only payed for shipping maybe twice.
My spending at Newegg has slowed as well. Tigerdirect, Mwave and Amazon are getting more of my business. For me, it's about the deals. When newegg concentrated on computer stuff they could reduce costs but expansion has cost them.
Amazon is often more expensive for things like videos cards, though some of them are comparable with the no tax.
Well sigh...I purchased a video card with newegg with 3 day shipping. I was just given a tracking number for ground which will take around 5 days to get here. I knew that I should have gone with Amazon.
I used to spend between $40k and $100k a year at newegg. They used to be amazing, no one else could touch them. Not taking PO/net30 purchases was a knock but we just credit carded everything. In the last 2-3 years they have gone to crap. Their offerings are always out of stock or have absurd item limits. They don't split orders well anymore. Many of our orders are p-cards that have a 1k limit per charge. Newegg used to split the orders fine for us all the time. Now forget it. Newegg now does take purchase orders and offers net30 purchasing but... They are no longer competitive. CDW, dell ,tigerdirect and amazon blow them out of the water 90/100 times. Market place items are a toss up.
I wish they would go back to their roots. Sadly I think that ship has sailed and is floundering on a reef somewhere.
I cannot believe the things you guys are saying about Newegg.
First, Newegg has free 3-day shipping on many items, probably most of them. And for many people who live on the East Coast, that's overnight shipping. Amazon on the other hand, has good shipping only if you pay $80 a year for prime. (And again, Newegg's free 3-day shipping is better than Amazon Prime's 2-day shipping and just as good as its $4 1-day shipping for many on the East Coast.)
Second, Newegg's prices are usually extremely competitive, and it has excellent daily and weekly promotions and discounts (just a month ago, I got a refurb GTX 560 Ti for $135). For computer components (especially memory and video cards), I don't see anyone coming close to Newegg.
Finally, Newegg's customer service has always been excellent in my experience. They will basically give you anything you want if you ask for it and your request is reasonable.
Student Prime, look it up.
Secondly, not everything that has 'Free Shipping' is 3 day. (Light weight items come to mind.. *cough* my SSD)
Congratulations, you got a deal on a refurb video card; That's a niche deal.
Not everyone's a student...look it up.
Student email addresses are extremely easy to come by.

I'm in MA. I ordered a HDD enclosure friday. This is what todays tracking info looks like:
Between Newegg's mediocre pricing and horrific shipping, i'm thinking this is the last order I place with them.
The two days its spent bouncing between Jersey and Maryland?
If I ordered on Amazon from a NJ warehouse, it would have been at my door on Saturday.
rofl
What does that have to do with Newegg? Thats the shipping service's route, Newegg doesn't control that.
NewEgg does control that -- they always have the option to ship via a different carrier or insist the carrier treat their packages well. Or maybe get both carriers to offer identical shipping rates so the consumer can decide.
I, for one, refuse to order anything from them that involves EggSaver Shipping. I don't care for my package to be flown about in DHL-hell before being handed off to the USPS for local delivery 2 weeks later.
