All Time Best Motherboard ?

Abit IT7 Max
Soyo 6BA+III
Abit VP6 (not to be confused with the BP6)
Almost any 440BX chipset mobo, that was a kick ass chipset!

but apparently not shitty enough for the majority of enthusiants to give a shit

If they were that bad, every kid on the block and their grandmother wouldn't have bought one.

You miss the fact that we *had* to buy it for SLI support.

Abit IP35 Pro, or the "relic" I currently use.

Both rock solid.

Abit BP6, still have 1 here with Dual Celeron 366's @ 550. Fire it up once year now just for giggles.

These are my all time favorites: ABIT BH6, the godfather of all 440BX mobos. ABIT BX-133 RAID, ABIT KR7A-RAID, ABIT NF7-S v2.0.

You made me dig through my stash of relics and took some pics but the BH6 and KR7A-RAID are in the garage:

AOpen AX6B and AX6BC. Those motherboards were rock solid and we never had a problem with them when I was working at a shop.

seems like a bit of an odd question to me, best all time MB. tho i guess CPU's & GPU's can't hog all the love.

as a few others mentioned, the Abit 440BX MB's for the old cely 300A was one of my favourites too.

more recently my favourite was my old (still in sig, gotta change that) X38 775 socket Asus MB (original maximus formula). other than being an incredibly solid board, it was one of that last 775 socket MBs (except the 4 series boards) to support every CPU that sat on 775 pins. back in the good old days when one socket would seat all the intel processes (celerons, pentiums, C2D, C2Q, xeons). i'm a bit biased on this particular MB as it housed my favourite all time CPU - q6600.

not a lot of love for the older chipsets for AMD chips, not surprising as most were just shit.

LOL. My dad's rockin the Abit Nf7S rev2.0 as we speak. It went through 3 Athlon XP's (2 Barton Mobile)

I dunno. I'm kind of partial to my EVGA X58 Classifed E760. I gotta say I did love my Abit KT7-Raid way back in the day.

NVIDIA 730I chipset needs a mention even though it debuted too late for an impact. The first complete and power efficient HTPC chipset with competent IGP.

Was also a big fan of the Intel 440BX back in the day.

My favorite Mobo of all time was my Biostar A740GM2+. I got the lowest power consumption out of this baby than any other motherboard i've ever owned, and it ran so cold it was obscene. Unfortunately one day a game called grand theft auto 4 came along that was unplayable and and Biostar never updated the bios so I could upgrade to an Athlon 2 so I had to eventually replace it with a nightmare asus nvidia board that hates SSDs........

Never played with that exact model, but god, I just have had such bad experiences with biostar boards whenever I have come across one fixing a friend/family machine...Always seems they had weird buggy issues or were missing support for things...maybe just bad luck, but so be it.

As to a lot of the other comments in this thread - boy, do I miss abit. Always had pretty solid offerings.

And for the SR-3, I'm really hoping it comes out and fulfills expectations. I'm worried with all the problems and talent that they've lost, its going to be a disappointment, especially when compared to what the SR-2 was.

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L. Cheap, simple, durable, and one hell of an overclocker. Used with a E6600 and a Q6600, got some great clocks. It's still in service as a living room PC with an E8400 (had other uses for the Q6600) and it's still running strong.

Asus 440bx with UW Scsi

That would be the P2B-S. I personally liked the P2B-DS :)

I also loved the ol Abit VP6. I have one with authentic blown caps and a pair of p3-1ghz chips heh.

I had a good time with the Epox eatkate board, 8kta3+, and the 8kha+

Always loved soyo's white board. How can you not like the color of this board?
Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra (K7VX4)

Didn't have a favorite board as none I owned was awesome, but working on my next one being awesome. ^.^

MSI K7N2 Delta-L (socket a, nforce2 chipset - this board was amazing, I have 2 working units still)
DFI pro875B (socket 478 intel 875 chipset - great board - I have 3 of these, only 2 work still)
Abit AA8XE (lga775 intel 925 chipset - solid stable fast board)
DFI NF4 SLI-DR (socket 939, nforce4 - one of my favorites of all time for sure - I favor the layout of the non expert, but have both)

honorable mention - Soyo p4x400 dragon ultra platinum (the white one), super slick looking. I picked one up on ebay a year ago, seems "new". only ran for an hour or two to test it. Not the fastest socket 478 but nice looking.

DFI NF4 Ultra-D modded to SLI-D
P4C800-E, i had 4 of these back in the day for overclocking/benching. sold 2 but also kept 2. they're still working till this day as faithful workhorses. 1 of them is running a Gallatin EE home server and the other is in a nostalgia box with period correct parts i never sold e.g. BH5 / OCZ booster etc.

had plenty of epox mobos too. they all performed quite well for the cheap purchase price but every single one has now died due to the cheap ass capacitors that are guaranteed to fail. no surprise they're no longer with us.

Any board I can think of has already been mentioned. But one thing rings true in this thread...

Long live Abit!!

I'll toss in another vote for the beloved ABit NF7-S Rev 2.0 board.. That thing was rock solid..
