Till I found a third 23" monitor and display adapter.. :)

They still handle 5760x1080 pretty well at 40-55FPS on a medium/low mixture in BF3.

But being so used to 110fps on high/medium @1920x180, It almost feels unplayable to me..

Other games are perfectly fine. And the immersion that eyefinity offers is pretty cool, specially racing games. Love looking "out" the window at the next upcoming turn.

So my journey in eyefinity was a decent experience, was it worth it? I dont think its worth the costs. And hence the reason I think im just going to sell everything and fund my 7970 purchase.

Just felt like sharing my experience.

Sounds like a pretty clear case of exceeding your available VRam. Going from 1080P to 3 times that resolution with only 1GB VRam just isn't going to fly, especially not if you aren't willing to lower other in-game settings to compensate. Pretty much forget about AA.

That wasn't his point... his point was that the costs wouldn't be worth it for the experience given by three screens.

yea I pretty much knew off the rip they were gonna be getting raped, but just wanted to see what all the talk about eyefinity was, first hand..

its still worth having the third display just from the production aspect and the ability to multi-task even if you aren't using all 3 for gaming. wish i had the space on my desk for 3 displays theres so much i could do with a third display that doesn't have to do with gaming..

My biggest problem with Eyefinity isn't the performance requirements, which are obvious. My problem is that 3 years after it has been available, the majority of games still don't support it well. If they even natively support multi-screen resolutions without 3rd party fixes or hacks, the HUDs are almost always on the wrong screens. It's frustrating. I've had 3x U2410s since 2010 and I'm probably going to switch to a single 2560x1440 monitor for gaming. I'd rather have a large, pretty high-resolution screen that works with 100% of my games than a triple gaming screen that works, at best, 1/4 of the time.

agree. its pretty pathetic in my opinion that developers can't spend the extra couple hours coding the huds to scale correctly per the resolution. while its understandable but its a pain in the ass code for every specific resolution how about just doing them for the most common triple screen resolutions or hell allow the end user to fix their own hud. this is one of the few things i actually liked about Star Trek Online(horrible game though). if you pressed F12 you could litterally move every single object in the hud to any location you wanted, even the location of where server messages appeared which was pretty bad ass. i mean hell how hard could it really be to code that option into a game?

2560x1600 30" = lots of room + high-res + IPS :D, all on one screen.

Most of the games I've seen in Eyefinity, the textures on the side monitors are so stretched and elongated that it's pretty clear you aren't actually supposed to "look" at the side monitors, but rather, they are just supposed to add to your peripheral vision or something while looking at the center monitor. I think that can work well for racing games and other similar games where you are mainly focused on the center monitor, but it is a bit wonky when playing an RTS or even a game like World of Warcraft. I'd love the extra screen real-estate especially for WoW with lots of addons but eyefinity in WoW is just a constant incomprehensible mash of stretched textures on both side screens that add almost nothing to the gameplay experience unless you're flying on a wind-rider and staring at the center of your middle monitor or something.

just because its high res doesn't mean it helps productivity.. i'd take 3 1080p(and i friggin hate 1080p displays to begin with) displays over that pos display you just mentioned any day.. chrome/irc left monitor, game middle monitor, and a movie or system monitor clients/chat clients on the right monitor.. show me where you can do that with that monitor..

troll some where else.

I can, quite easily. Just because someone doesn't share your exact opinion doesn't mean they're wrong. I find multi-monitor awkward to work with, and 2560x1600 is 4mp while two 1920x1080 displays are a bit under that total. Add in the better quality from the IPS panel and you're better off. As far as gaming, the support is better for one monitor. If you HAD to have IRC you could simply run a game windowed.

I run 3 mismatched panels in a non-eyefinity setup with the 3rd panel powered by the onboard Intel video. Having extra monitors and extra stuff displayed on them is not unique to eyefinity nor do you have to skimp on your primary panel to make that happen.

That too... I have extra monitors around that I could run off my onboard video for a second, and my second DVI port for a third, for non-gaming, but I simply don't care to. I still find it pretty hilarious that he refers to a 3007WFP-HC as a "pos display". I was talking about for gaming purposes... I thought it was pretty common knowledge that sirmonkey1985 would know of, that you can run multiple monitors without going for "eyefinity".

Yea having an extra monitor is nice, but not 3 23".. Takes up too much desk space (atleast with a shitty desk like mine)..

Id rather just run one of them with a 17" I have sitting in the closet. Be perfect for me.
