New 4P Build

This is my second 4P build. The 1st one I just got a Supermicro barebone 4U server and added the CPUs and memory. This one I ordered a Supermicro H8QGi board and a Coolermaster HAF 932 case. Has anyone over here used that case for the Supermicro board? If you have, how difficult was it? I know I'm going to have to add some more standoffs for the motherboard. Is there anything else I'll have to do?
 
I'll have all the parts by wednesday. Can't wait. Wish I could justify a 3rd 4P system but 2 is my limit.

It's alive! :)

Setting up dual boot like my other server. Installed Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Right now doing all the updates then I'll move on to Ubuntu.
 
Wow, new heavy hitter in the mix? AWESOME!!

kinda makes my one 4P small lol, only here can a 420k rig be considered entry level for real play lol

I love this team
 
8.7hrs and I am overtaken by the OP. I would like to know what sort of PPD this thing gets.
 
That is some high-end gear right there. Nice work! How hard was it to get the board to fit in that case?

The motherboard fits in the case NP. However, the case only has motherboard standoffs for the bottom 2 rows on the motherboard. I was able to add standoffs for the 3rd row up but the top row on the motherboard extends beyond the motherboard tray, so nothing there. The board is now secured with 10 standoffs.

The other issue I ran into was my Corsair AX1200 was so long it ran into the USB port my particular motherboard has on the bottom edge. I had to heat up the solder on that port and bend it up a little to clear the PSU.

Other than those 2 issues it went perfectly. A different motherboard or PSU could prevent the 2nd issue.
 
I hope I'm wrong but I think your screwed with that case. It doesn't have room for a PSU at the top and you need that room for the motherboard to fit. Could have saved money with the 932. It's cheaper.
 
That sucks I was hoping to use it for the 4P with liquid cooling. I plan on putting a 3 X 120 radiator in the top. Looks like it may be time to get the sawsall out.
 
I had to remove the top fan that came with the case, no room. The Supermicro board goes all the way to the top of the case. The WC rad would have to go on the outside of the case anyway.
 
I was able to use the large side fan that came with the case. The large top fan that came with the case wouldn't fit inside so I zip tied it to the top. This case worked out well.

Definately helped a bit.

In case you didn't notice I'm only useing 1 fan on each of the Noctua's. The Noctua's come with 2 fans for each heatsink. I could use the 2nd fan on the bottom 3 heatsinks. There's not enough clearance to fit the second fan on the top heatsink.

I'm impressed that you got the side window fan to fit with the Noctua 120s in that case. The side fan in my Elysium had to be removed.
