Staples had some at this price but now Amazon jumps on board. No tax and free shipping for the win.

I have one and I like the hell out of it. Best for gaming... I dunno. But I haven't had any problems. Then again I am not a hardcore gamer anymore. $50 is a steal.

Plus it has unifying receiver so with the right mouse, only 1 tiny dongle...

Oh well, gonna snag another one when it goes on sale on Newegg. Great keyboard. Get some eneloops and a charger and you're good to go.

Mine came with 2 AA eneloop 2000mah's. Lasted about 2 weeks on a charge. I had some good 2700mah's that I had for a camera that I sold, with those it went a month on a charge... it never did die I just eventually decided to charge it.

It uses a microusb cord/charger (I use the one from my cell phone which is always at my desk anyway). If you want it illuminated all the time you just leave it plugged in.

I hate using corded chargers for wireless products, so it's preferable for me to swap the batteries. I do the same for the G700. Not as convenient as the G7 hot swap batteries (those were the best ever) but it's doable.

How does this compare to the Logitech's lower priced keyboards anyways? I mean it's illuminated but that seems just about it. Still looking for a good gaming wireless keyboard...

This keyboard has been in and out of stock at Staples for the past week at the same price. As of right now, it is still in stock with free shipping over $50, so do the slickdeal thing and buy $26 worth of stuff, then get a $25 off $75 coupon.

Thanks for the "head's up".

I did find refurbs for 65.00 + free shipping but I'll see if I can work this Slickdeal thing.

How much better is this than, say, a Sidewinder X4? Aside from the wireless factor.

Edit: Or a Logitech G110.

Edit 2: Never mind, it's moot now, because I bought it. I realized that I *live* near at least one Staples, so I just checked store availability, and it said "Low Stock Clearance Item" for all the nearby stores. Good enough for me, so I just drove over to the nearest one. And I got the last unit on the shelf. Curiously, it was priced at $59.99. Naughty Staples! So I took the KB with me to the customer service counter and politely explained the price discrepancy between the website and the store. The lady there verified the difference and price-matched it, after waiting about a minute for a system authorization or something (her screen was facing away from me). $54.36 out the door, including sales tax.

Thanks for the heads-up, Burticus! I love Logitech keyboards and I've been wanting a high quality backlit KB for a while now. (Got burned on a mushy Saitek Eclipse II, never going back to them.) This unit is replacing an old Internet 350 which will now be my backup/spare.

I bought one from Ebay for 57.95.

Kinda looks like all these 'bargain units' are refurbs...

Note: Some sellers are selling these same sets in the same condition as "New Overstock" from Logitech. We are selling the exact same product from the same source, but refuse to falsely advertise. These are just "like new"!

Hmm. Staples customarily labels its refurb inventory pretty clearly. And I don't think Amazon sells refurbished anything outside of its "Warehouse Deals" sub-store.

I agree but maybe that's why Amazon doesn't have anymore and Staples goes in & out of stock.

Many sellers on Ebay are selling these as new/overstock also.

If your unit doesn't include the CD drivers it's a refurb.

Funny you should say that, since mine didn't. It had the square package for it, but it just contained the documentation. Where did you get that info?

Edit: That may not be the case, because Xbit's review unit didn't come with one: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/multimedia/display/logitech-k800_5.html

Several Amazon user reviews from months ago make note of it.

Edit 2: You know what? Mine also has the wrong model number on it. It's 820-002795. Google returns pretty much *zero info*. The one everyone is selling -- including Staples -- has a model number listed as 920-002359.

The model is also printed on a tiny sticker instead of on the keyboard itself.

Too weird, I'm taking it back. Getting a Sidewinder X4 instead, I think. And not from Staples...

Edit 3: Hell, the model number *on the box* is 920-002359. Weird!

I bought mine brand new from Amazon. Has 820-002795 as the model number. Sealed retail logitech box..

If staples were selling refurbs they would be clearly marked. To think otherwise is just ingnorant fear mongering.

Here's the thing, though. Google "820-002795." Now Google "920-002359." Just the model numbers, nothing else.

Now look at the box, where the UPC code is. The model number is listed slightly above it, to the right.

Now compare those numbers to the model number on the sticker underneath your K800.

Something about it ain't right.

I have this keyboard and I love it. I charge it with the same charging cable I use for my G700. My desk is neat and tidy with no wires :)

Here's the actual thing. I bought a BNIB keyboard in a sealed retail box built by the largest computer accessory company directly from the largest online retailer in the world.

Not worried.

That's how they want you to think!

But I also returned it because the backspace key was flaking out.

I know I bought a refurb so it should be interesting to see my model numbers.

I purchase many refurb items and 50% off is about right.

I'm sure the refurbs will work just a good as new. :)

I paid $50, Amazon shipped at lightning speed, got it in 2 days for free, everything was sealed, clean, looked brand new, and it works perfectly. No driver CD. They even packaged the sealed keyboard box in plastic AND packing material. I'm impressed.

If it is a refurb, it's the best damn refurb I've ever seen. I sincerely doubt it.

I'm just curious....did you pay 100.00 or 50.00 and did it come with a CD?

Was 59.99 I think. I will check the box for a CD tonight. I haven't used a driver CD in years so I'm not sure if one was there or not.

I just got mine and there's no way you could confuse this unit as anything but a refurb.

No Logitech box/packing or CD.

There's no blemishes and it works just fine but there's no doubt this one is a refurb.

Some retailers are using what's called "Frustration Free Packaging"... Your product could be brand new, but Amazon sent you their Frustration Free Packaging" version. Click the link for info....
The Certified Frustration-Free Package is recyclable and comes without excess packaging materials such as hard plastic clamshell casings, plastic bindings, and wire ties. It's designed to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging.

A Logitech rep got back to me and explained that (for reasons that still elude me), the model number on the box and in the advertising will actually *never* appear on the unit. Instead, the unit uses a *part* number that will never correspond to the *model* number that's listed elsewhere and used to sell and inventory the product. Damnest thing I've ever heard, but I was able to confirm it by looking up some other Logitech KBs I have lying around. I know MS doesn't do this, and I doubt Dell does.

Still, I'm happier with this Sidewinder X4, so far. The backspace key works, for one. And it's not 2KRO like the K800. I also don't miss the compulsive mini-game of "Conserve the Battery." I also don't need the backlight on for the keys to be legible. Those low-profile scissor-switch keys felt nice, though.

Wayy to confusing for an Old Hippie. LOL!
