Going for a 7950 looks like. Can't wait as long as this looks like it might take. Maybe by next year.

2 more hours and we'll know whats up with Nvidia... My money is on something that has to do with Tegra 3. I hope Borderlands gets ported to Tegra 2/3, that would make my life... Fuck Kepler. hahah :-D

I am just curious if nVidia is going to give the middle finger to Surround users by maxing out at 2GB VRAM with Kepler. I easily go above that with a single screen.

If mid range card is $299 and performs similar to HD7970 l think many people will be happy with 2gb.

I hope the mid range cards feature virtual memory accesibility.

No way that happens, people need to get their expectations in order.

We are talking about nVidia here.....

Ya, not sure what drugs everyone is on.
If it performs similar to 7970 then guess what . . . it will be priced similar to the 7970.

It seems like a lot of the rumor mill is mumbling about how performance will be very game specific so some games will outperform 7970 and other games will get whooped by 7970. That way at a $350ish price point all the nvidia fanboys can brag all they want and all the amd fanboys can tell them they're full of crap and everyone will be right to some extent.

Now as for whenever nvidia's high-end single chip card comes out, wake me up.

Haha keep dreaming, they might display some stuff that has to deal with tegra 4...

Stop going off topic... 8mins to presentation. I'm sitting waiting for it. I'll update as soon as I can :)

I fail @ life ...

No Keplar as the rumors I heard....

All they are talking about is Tegra 3 ....

Unfortunate :(. Oh well, at least I know to wait a few on selling my 570's, just letting one go for now instead.

It will be hilarious if newegg 79xx stock sells out this week. I think it can be attributed to this and general Kepler delay, their stock has been steadily available after the first couple weeks.

Who didnt call this out before hand?
Honestly just look at Nvidias record with these launches....
7970 is next Gen, Kepler is a wet dream.

GTX 580's are being slashed on newegg.... they are definitely working on clearing stock, hopefully we see Kepler in mid-late March as we always thought we would.

LuLz. So much fanboi hype up in here. April is the earliest reliable date I've heard. Mark my words.

Same, this whole thing got kinda spun up and snowballed, I wasn't really expecting Kepler today though I was, of course, always dreaming :p. By all accounts it won't be here until early April.

I actually posted the news in the main Kepler thread several hours before this thread existed, since I didn't think it was worthy of a new one: http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1038377818&postcount=258

I think the meaning of "fanboi" has lost it's meaning over time because of improper use.

I wish people stop using the word, sounds like teenagers picking on each other.

Yup, these... people, seem to use the term as anyone who owns product A or B nowadays, it's pretty pathetic.

Very disappointed. Really had my hopes up. If only nVidia could release some specifications, I'm not even interested in a working board, I just want to know what to expect. I guess I'll go with a 7970 then, this takes too long. With the Kepler yield issues and still nothing released, I'd wager that a high-end Kepler is still at least six months away. A Kepler with non-reference cooler, to reduce noise, probably even longer.

Actually a very good value against 7950 at the moment.
I disagree. Compared to the 7950, the GTX 580 is still overpriced. From AnandTech:

Ultimately it’s not a fair fight, not that AMD ever intended it to be one. Outside of a few corner cases the 7950 renders the GTX 580 irrelevant, and while it’s not quite as immense as what the 5850 did to the GTX 285 2 years ago the outcome is much the same. With the 7950 AMD can deliver performance similar to if not better than the GTX 580 while consuming significantly less power and enjoying all the temperature & noise benefits that provides, making it a very attractive card.

I'll add that the 7950:

-Is the better overclocker by far.
-Has better multi-monitor support, if you're into that.
-Will earn the slight price difference back due to energy savings.
-Besides being a better card, also has newer tech support, like DirectX 11.1.

So unless nVidia lowers the price of the GTX 580 further, buying it doesn't make much sense. With a price of $350-$375 perhaps, but not now. 7950 > 580.

I still can't believe this is a disappointment to people... It was practically obvious from the start that this card just isn't done. And the wait was said a LONG time ago, you all knew you had to wait a while. Why is this disappointing? The company isn't going to bullshit us with something they don't have, I'll honor that. Pretty cut and dry....

I need Nvidia to tell us something. Or im jumping ship and getting an AMD Card... my GTX460 is showing age.

Why? What is AMD offering that Nvidia doesn't offer a competitive product in your price range?

You going to jump on a 7770? :p
