Can’t get enough of the high-tech geekoid movies? Well, May 2013 just might be your month to geek out with not only Star Trek returning, but also the third installment of the Iron Man franchise. Filming is scheduled to begin in April, written and directed by Shane Black of Lethal Weapon fame.

Hopefully it'll be better than the last one, what a horrible sequel to a very good first installment.

Complete agree. Iron Man 2 was a very disappointing. Will wait for the reviews of the third before wasting time going to the cinema next time.

I know. Whiplash? Really? That was the best they could come up with. They couldn't have done The Mandarin or even The Red Dynamo? Would have been leagues better than Whiplash.

Yeah, that was an choice of villain.

We won't have to wait until 2013 to see Iron Man on the big screen..

I didn't like either Iron Man movie , I'm sure I won't enjoy the third. Something about it just felt off.

I thought the first movie was one of the better Marvel efforts, but like others have mentioned the second was hurt by a weak villain. I actually liked Downey's version better than the comic book character the last few years, they turned Tony Stark into an unlikable control freak who's done more harm than good. The Mandarin would probably be the best choice for the next movie,he's the closest thing to an arch nemesis for Iron Man.

I loved them both. If I catch it channel surfing on Epix I will invariably end up watching it. Though 2013 seems kind of rushed to get an entire movie shot, edited and effects thrown in, but what do I know.

I liked the first two, I liked all the marvel movies that came out before it, and I will like this one among with the avengers. I guesses I managed my expectations better. *shrug*

Yeah I dont go in expecting oscar winning comic book movies that will become legendary films. I expect great action popcorn flicks and they usually deliver.

I liked the first too also. I wish Jon Favreau was writing and directing third one. Now I'm not too interested.

i love superhero movies. theyre meant to be blockbuster action flicks, not oscar winners. batman is the rare exception where a superhero movie is incredibly well done, but batman has the distinction of being the only major superhero who is actually a realistic human character and not some alien or mutant etc. its hard to really make a compelling movie when you have to completely suspend reality from the start.

Exactly x 2 :)

+1

Except I don't know if you can call Batman a "realistic human." He does have many more flaws than the average superhero from DC, but to me he's no more "realistic" than most of the Marvel characters. In fact, Iron Man is a fairly good comparison to Batman. Basically rich dudes with some fancy tech trying to make the world a better place.

What do we learn from Iron Man and Batman? Money, coupled with extreme intellect is the ultimate superpower.

I'd argue that First Class ended up being something beyond a summer action flick. It had some great acting (could have done without January Jones though that woman can't fucking act), a fairly good script, and so on. Fassbender especially really captured every aspect of Magnet so perfectly.

really? i dont know man, ive always been a huge fan of the xmen, i love how theyre a whole squad of heroes and how their powers interact with each other instead of just one superhero vs one villian. but that moviewas ridiculous. january jones sucked, yes, but kevin bacons villian was just weird and outrageous and not believeable at all. i think january jones's acting and kevin bacons character together took it far away from batman and iron man. i still liked it though.

I liked Bacon's Shaw. Sebastian Shaw has always been over the top. He's not what you would call subtle. Bacon did a good job capturing the character. Jones pissed me off so much. She looked so much like Emma. Seeing the set images of her it was like they cast the perfect Frost. However my god that woman makes Megan Fox look like a reasonable actress. Even ignoring her acting Emma Frost is supposed to be British and what the fuck is it with writers turning her into a dumb blond? Emma Frost is supposed to be insanely intelligent and capable of manipulating anyone to do what she wants, even when they think they aren't. Both the comics and First Class have made her just a pair of boobs.

The second Iron Man movie wasn't all that good. I enjoyed the first one. I'm excited for the third and the Avengers.

But I CAN"T WAIT FOR BATMAN.

Maybe I'm getting too old, but every movie I see practically seems like a rerun.... ;p

+1 - - not much originality anymore - just retreads...

...and, there are so many in the market right now - over saturation doesn't help

I thought it was absolutely awful. The first 30 minutes or so had promise, then it went to shit. The stripper dragonfly and sniveling man-banshee-flying squirrel detracted from a couple otherwise good performances.

I'd go so far as to say I liked the Wolverine Origins movie better, and that was pretty bad.

Wolverine: Origins was quite possibly the "worst" super hero movie so far in the last decade. Thor took a close second to me, I really disliked the direction they took with Thor.

I am looking forward to see Avengers, but in general, DC Comic movies have been much better movies minus Superman Returns (and dont get me wrong, I DID like SR, just the screw up with the chemistry between LL and CK was terrible, so bad it ruined the movie to me).

i wish i could discuss superhero movies with you guys all night. all my friends loved thor but i fell asleep because it just didnt have a compelling conflict. it literally bored me to sleep. the effects were great, fight scenes were good, but i just felt like the movie was really insubstantial. SR was meh. i hated kate bosworth in it. actually i hated them both. smallville was better. new one might be ok. anyway its after 3am and i work at 630 so i should prooobably go to sleep. haha. :p

Bingo, hopefully Nolan gets his dues at next years Academy awards. These Batman movies are more or less crime drama's more then comic book movies if you think about it.

Really?? I refused to watch it for the fact they fucked up the characters of who the real first class actually was.

What the hell is it with some comic book fans and not understanding that is it not the same damn universe as the comics!? Seriously it's like you guys only started reading a couple years ago and have never dealt with the fact that both major comics (and especially Marvel) have a number of different universes to tell stories in. Marvel literally has an infinite number of alternate realities. The movies exist in their own reality. They are not the comics and do not have to conform exactly to how things went down in the comics. Why is that hard to understand? As much as I love X-men, let's be blunt here. The original line up was not that important. What's important is the story and the characters. There is nothing about the team of Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Angel that can't be created by another line up of characters. They all came to be great characters in their own right, but as a beginning point they don't matter.

I really liked the first one, and I enjoyed the second one. I'm sure I'll enjoy the third. I like Iron-Man. I am hoping the Avengers will be good.

January Jones looked like an addled dirty crackwhore in that film. Her acting could have easily been replaced by a cardboard cut out of her just tilting there in every seen while a drunk barfly in the background could have belted out the lines.

After suffering through the last two Spider-Man movies, Iron Man was miles better, the second one, it was okay, but nothing really happened until we got to the last 25 minutes.

Shane Black you say? I'm in.. that man knows how to direct and script a film. Expect some witty stuff.
