Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] Preorder $35

Just so...

*Closes visor, lowers lance*

I never buy individual seasons, normally wait for the box set, but this show is so good my finger is hovering over "complete purchase"

One of the few series I actually want on HD. I probably still wont buy it though....although the extras would be interesting hrmmm..hrmmmm!!!

This amused me when I looked at the deal:

Trade In This Movies & TV Item for $0.15
Trade in Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] for a $0.15 Amazon.com Gift Card that can be redeemed for millions of items store wide. See more Movies & TV eligible for trade-in

Recently got the e-books, but am finishing a book now before I start the series. How is this series?

Heard it was good, but never read anything like it before. Do love LOTR if there's any comparison at all. Usually reading sci-fi or horror; Koontz, King, Brian Lumley - Necroscope Series awesome BTW! probably best yet.

The series is very political, with occasional battles, incest, flaying, decaptiation, and dragons.

Sometimes all at once.

most movies are 2 hours and their Blu-ray's cost around $15-20 on average...you're getting 10 hours with GoT for $45...seems like a good deal to me

here is a good strategy for those who don't have HBO, wait until the season is over, they will have all eposides on-demand. Subscribe to HBO for a month ($20 or whatever) watch all of them, then cancel subscription :D

OR call your cable provider and maybe get HBO for free for 6 months when the season starts, worked for me last year (was calling to get a lower rate and they threw in HBO for free along with a lower rate).

Awesome series, watched it twice (once on my own, then once when my wife started watching it). Will be interesting to see how they deal with losing all the good talent though.

I preordered a while back and am glad to the price drop which should apply automatically. I'm one of those guys that does not really have the time or patience to keep up with shows as they air and can hardly wait to do the GoT marathon on my HT and see it all for the first time.

They had all of them on demand as it was going on and they still do now(I think they might currently even have all of them)...The only bullshit they ever pulled was The Pacific, it was on there for less than a week :(

What do you mean losing the good talent? Who left?

Exactly. When you-know-who had his head lopped off and they dumped him out in the street it killed me. I mean that figuratively, of course. But speaking figuratively, it literally killed me. It literally sliced me open and left me to bleed out in the street, figuratively. Literally.

And I never want to see Game of Thrones or your crummy box set again. See you next season.

I give you this as a response to eddard's death

Yeah the ongoing death campaign against this great actor perpetrated by the Hollywood machine is a pretty cold shot.

And his final Game of Thrones scene was so realistic that for two months I believed it had also killed him in real life.

I don't want to be "that guy", but if ever a spoiler alert would have been called for... :D

If you read the books you realize how important this event is to the story and development of the characters. Seems like GRRM really had a lot of the future books layed out in his head (no pun, heh, heh) well ahead of time. Definitely not a gratuious plot twist.

Can't wait for season two, but no idea how HBO is going to pull it off correctly without a gigantic budget and time.

In for one.

Hands down my favorite books ever. I was worried that the show wouldn't do the books justice, but the show ended up knocking it out of the park. Can't wait for season 2.

Seriously. Sword of Storms was absolutely insane.
^This.

I started reading the books after watching the first season. While GoT and CoK are excellent in their own right, Storm of Swords is on a whole other level of epicness.

I read somewhere that the producers of the show plan on splitting Storm of Swords into two seasons. That makes sense because it would be all but impossible to cram all the events of that book into ten 1hr episodes.

As far as the second season goes, I cannot wait see some of the conversations between Tyrion and Cersei. :D

Seriously. Sword of Storms was absolutely insane.

I must say, I enjoyed A Feast for Crows too although it seemed most weren't such fans of it.

I absolutely loved the first three, AFFC was decent but IMO the least impressive of the series. Dance was so poorly received by the fan community I moved it to the back of my reading queue. The ending of the first book is one of the best ever in a fantasy series.

How is that link any different from the OP? C'mon now...

Because the price changed, and your OP said that the DVD was $35 before you edited it tonight.

I was updating the thread with new information, that being the Blu Ray is $35. I also asked a mod to edit the title so that people would know they are getting a better deal for $35 instead of the original $45.

As long as people save money and get a product they want, I don't see the problem

That's what I did basically only I prefer HBO Go on my Roku over Verizon's craptacular DVR/cable box. Once I finished Rome, GoT, and The Pacific I cancelled before my 30 days was up.

Yup. Way behind on my TV series though, I still have Chuck and Big Bang Theory to get through.

I wasn't too happy with the last season of chuck. :(

I know I could download this show and what not, but just watching it on Blu-Ray Quality on the TV is just soo much nicer!

I ordered the exclusive (according to BB, anyway) Stark version from Best Buy instead for the same price, but I haven't received it yet (which is fine with me as long as it doesn't take TOO long). It is or at least was $35 (as of yesterday) at Deepdiscount.com as well (not sure if all of you know that site, but I've made dozens of orders with them over the years, and they have been just as good as Amazon)
