I think what got me the most in that announcement was the way they offhandedly mentioned that blizzcon was cancelled. It was mostly an announcement for their championship event, with a "....oh and Blizzcon 2012 is cancelled" at the end.
Whatever it takes to get Diablo 3 up to par and out the door.
It wasn't canceled, it was just delayed...
QFT.
Can't have your own convention unless you're putting out AAA games.
WoW decline -1
D3 delay -1
SC2 meh -1
=
Blizzard -3
- Blizzcon.
Makes sense to me.

10 million active subscribers is far from a fail. D3 is coming this year , seriously doubtful they'll delay it any farther than after summer. SC2 has 2 expansion packs coming and sold a shit ton of copies. SC2 also has a huge E-Sports community.
Putting together a show like Blizzcon equals a massive employee effort , developers taking time away from finishing products to talk about the products they plan on finishing. Unveiling some kind of new product (a requirement of any Blizzcon) which wouldn't exactly make sense since WoW has another expansion pack coming (which will sell tons as usual despite the decline in subs) and Diablo 3 will probably (eventually) out sell COD:MW3. Makes more sense to concentrate on getting that shit done versus spending weeks/months planning an event that won't be anything more than ANOTHER geek gathering. As if geek gatherings are "rare" events anymore..
I love how people talk about Blizzard like they aren't printing money so fast they can't build vaults big enough to hold it.
Looks like no Titan unveiling until 2013, boo.
Um Titan just left the framework stage a few months back. Artists are just getting involved and the game is like 2-3 years before it will be shown, closer to 4 before it releases.

WoW hasnt had 10 million subscribers since Wrath. They are bleeding subscribers and im sure that will be brought up again during the earnings call in February.
With 10.3 million subscribers as of September 2011
It is already being played in-house at Blizzard and the article that talked about it is almost a year old now (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6302940.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6302940)
The early projection at Blizzard was for it to be released at the end of 2013 (as of 4/2010) according to the slide leak (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1568839). No doubt they've probably bumped that to 2014 by now... but no it won't be 4 more years lol given that is sounds pretty far along.

They use to have close to 13-14 million. WoW could lose 5 million more and still be hugely profitable. And again I find it hard to call that a "fail". Blizzard could take the next 10 years off , tell everyone to eat a bag of dicks and still be milking multiple franchises without even releasing fresh content and turning a profit. This company actually has a decent effect on the National Economy of an entire COUNTRY .. I mean come on , cut them some slack.
