I'm glad it isn't a Skyrim clone. I like the Elder Scrolls games, but I like one of them. I can't get into other huge open world aimless wandering RPGs like that. Curt Schilling mentioned on the official forums that they designed the game as that you won't walk for more than a couple minutes without finding things to do. I like that. I like wandering aimlessly, but it's not to find distractions along the path.
If this game is anywhere close to 'reasonably good', we need to pimp the shit out of it to keep the dev studio afloat. Who knows what else they'll come up with.
Just once I'd like to see that whole cliched RPG rat dynamic turned on its head, where a giant rabid rat owns you.

This does have an distinct "indie" flavor about it, despite the big names and money behind it. Specifically referring to the responsiveness of the developers. If this game is anywhere close to 'reasonably good', we need to pimp the shit out of it to keep the dev studio afloat. I'd say no, there is a pretty high level of polish. I agree about them responding to questions though. This does have an distinct "indie" flavor about it, despite the big names and money behind it. Specifically referring to the responsiveness of the developers.
I'm kinda the same way. Too open world is not good for me. I think im OCD to a certain extent and I just get too bored when i have too much choice. I'd rather have more fleshed out content than them just letting me wander around aimlessly.

Er, well, I did sign the petition for that, so we'll see how that goes, and if I'll get to experience the refreshing experience of being exp fodder for a rat instead of the other way around.Dark Souls.
Just for that alone they've probably earned my money.

Like I said, the Europeans kept plugging it, no doubt because it was a "homegrown" German effort. They probably hate getting stuck with localized American games and G3 turned out to be their revenge .
And thus, every time a new 3D action RPG comes out, the ghosts of my G3 experience haunt me. I'll give KoA a try, although I wonder if I'll find it more suited to the 360 controller than kb+m.
For some reasons, the controls really annoy me.
Is it not locked camera mouse look with ws=forward back and ad = strafing left and right?
edit: elaborate, kind sir!
The main quirk I've run into with the controls is that it makes you hold down "x" (Default) for reckoning mode, which was quite cumbersome. Not sure if that was just a bug for me or that tutorial section, the demo does have some bugs, didn't play beyond that section yet.
One nice touch is it offers you the option to skip the well of souls section on replays.
To expand bugs for me at the moment. I get stutters/hitching occasionally, this is on a GTX 560ti. The other is the games controls will sometimes bug if you are pressing it after entering dialogue/cutscene/loading and get stuck. I assume this would probably be resolved on the release though.
how do you unlock the ME3 exclusives?...just by completing the demo?...I want to install the demo on a separate hard drive from the one I will be installing ME3 on...can I transfer the ME3 items over to another drive?
The items will be tied to your EA account.
I just got a few minutes to play it so far, but it seems like it will be good.
What was with the green dialogue option with a percentage? I didn't have time to fully explore the game so I may have skipped over something.
The only issue I kept having was my character kept running around randomly like a key was stuck. This also made dialogue a pain since it kept scrolling and I couldn't select an option.
wait a minute...Kingdoms of Amalur is available on Steam?...so Origin is not required to play the full retail game either?...so no ME3 goodies if playing on Steam right?...I hate how certain EA games are Origin exclusives while others are not...if you're going to tie certain titles in then why not do like Valve does with Steam?

No other game is tied to the program.
And yes only BF3 requires Origin
I thought ME3 will also require Origin?
I can't play this because I'm on AMD graphics. Well, that sucks.
ME3 is not released so there is no sure way to determine how it will function at the moment.
The only information out regarding this is that it -
- it requires Origin (will get to this more in a bit)
- one time activation for single player
- persistent connection for multi-player
Regarding the Origin bit, the actual Origin program is just a component of the service. For instance Alice 2 (like mentioned) also requires a 1 time activation through EA/Origin, but it is done independently of the client. The client itself is not a requirement, which as far as I know only applies to BF3.
I've found three bugs in the controls menu and I haven't even started playing the game yet. Not impressed.
Trust me, this is not an early build of the game. It's pre-release, but not early by a long shot. Bugs like the ones I found should have been fixed months ago. It's an early build of the game, and it's well know to be buggy. It is not a representation of the final shipping product, but be sure to give it bad marks not due to gameplay, story, or graphics but to interface bugs.
