Recommend a good DX11 game?

Since I just installed two nifty 580s I'd like to see if DX11 offers anything new and exciting compared to 10 and am looking for a game that not only looks good but is worth buying and spending time playing.

I've got Arkham City, but with all the bugs reported I'm not sure that's the best choice for a first impression at this time. What do others recommend? I'm even open to trials.

The new Dirt and AlienVsPredator games seem to be used as tech demos a lot.

Second on BF3. For whatever you do or don't like about gameplay, it is the best looking game evar. It also runs quite well, despite how good it looks. So while it uses a lot of power, it makes good use of said power.

If you want the best in shiny games, that would be it.

Yeah, I probably should have said I don't care a bit about BF or MW, no matter their iteration. Those are really the only constraints for this survey. I just don't care for them, unless MW stands for an amazingly revolutionary build or Morrowind. So take that as you will.

Hmmm the new Metro coming out maybe?

Crysis 2 with DX11 and high rez textures?

Um World of warcraft has a DX11 path!!!!

Other then that, I would say BF3..

Just play Witcher 2. It's DX9 but it will still put your computer down with ubersampling.

Yeah, it pretty much puts down any non-SLI/Xfire system, all for a rather minimal (almost nonexistent) improvement in graphics. :D

Arkham City's bugs have been pretty much ironed out as far as graphics are concerned. Plus its one helluva good game so there is no reason to not play it.

Alien vs. Predator looks quite good. Aliens with tesselation on look beautiful (so to speak) and Advanced Shadows, once you realise what they do, look great (namely blur out the shadows depending on how far the source of the shadow is, just like how RL shadows behave. check out lamppost shadows)

Beyond hardware tessellation, no, there's nothing for end users to get very excited about.

Go with the last two Dirt games. Both use DX11 and unlike most other DX11 games, you don't take a massive performance hit to enable the new features. I have both of them with everything turned up all the way (AA and vsync included) and still never drop below 60fps. That's how you REALLY enjoy DX11. Who cares about tesselation and the like if you have to turn everything else down or turn vsync off to actually use it?

You really can't put MW and BF in the same bucket... BF3 will showcase DX11 and good graphics in general for your set up. MW3 will not. Just sayin'

It's only DX10 but Cryostasis looks good.... most of the others I was gonna list though are already listed.

Shit, Witcher 2 is only DX9? I would have thought they'd be at 10 at least. Stupid consoles. The shots are damn impressive though. I still haven't played the original, so I guess there's no reason to skip it just for graphics - that's good news at least.

I don't know if Dirt is the right fit for me, but maybe I'll try a trial. And I'll have to check out AvP. I remember the original, which was very difficult to get to run on 2000 and XP, so I didn't play it much.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution uses DX11 tessellation for character models.

It's an interesting mix of graphics quality - many will note that it isn't exactly cutting-edge stuff, but it IS very, very visually evocative. And using tessellation where they did was smart, especially combined with the FXAA modes it supports - it really cuts out the feeling of watching a video game...the lack of polygons or sawtooth edges.

It's not exactly photo-real, and it's certainly not cell-shaded, but it's a kinda Blade-Runner-esque stylized realism.

So it's making very efficient use of DX11 features to support the artistic goals, but may not be what you are looking for.

Yeah, stupid consoles for making the developers use DX9 for a game that was targeted for PCs and hasn't even been released on consoles yet.

DXHR could have been a beautiful game, and aesthetically it really is, but almost complete absence of normal maps makes enviroment look so flat and dated.

The best looking DX11 games imo:

Metro 2033 (upcoming one should be awesome as well)
BF3
Batman: Arkham City
Total War: Shogun 2
Anno 2070
AVP
Dirt 3

Also while it's not DX11 exclsuive, The Witcher 2 is hands down one of the BESt looking graphically games out there, it will bring newer computers down a peg with it's full details maxed + Ubersampling.

It has some of the best highest res textures on the pc.

Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033. Both games look absolutely fantastic, but Metro 2033 will tax your system a lot more.

Good post, I'd also add Just Cause 2 to the list even though it's DX10, it looks fantastic and is fun to play with. NFS The Run is pretty solid-looking too, only catch is it's capped @ 30fps :(... (and DX9).

People really need to realize that the technical capabilities of the DX level used for a game does not mean what it will look like... the art, processing, and engine have 99% of the impact.

Crysis 2 with Ultra textures + DX11 pack looks awesome, too.

I still say that the lighting in Stalker Clear Sky is among the best that I've ever seen. I still haven't tried COP.

I don't know about that, at least not on my shitty cpu. But Metro2033 ran great with high settings, it was sluggish with everythign maxed, but once I turned some of the settings down, it was fine as wine. BF3 on the other hand needs a quad core at least. I know, cus it runs like crap on mine :(

Yeah but it's coming in 2012, so it will be easy to port. Sure they'll have to cut on Texture and other stuff.. but it's coming for the Xbox 360

A RACING game capped at 30fps!? They are one of the games where low FPS is very apparent thanks to fast motion.

Yeah, I'm sure the DirectX version has a lot to do with how easy it is to port a game, you know, since the Xbox 360 does not actually use DirectX. It's not like the way the engine is designed has a bigger impact.

It does. It's not quite the same as DirectX for Windows, but it's really very similar.

Dragon Age II has a DX11 mode. Now whether or not it's worth playing is up to you. I enjoyed it, but it was definitely not as great a game as the first.
