hp to sell touchpads on ebay (December 11th.)

Hmm might have to try get one of these. Would love to get a 16gb and stick CM7 on it and use as an ereader.

I'm def gonna try to get this. I almost bit on some member price raping one in the FS thread. Thanks OP!

first they sell the new ones for $99, then they sell out and say they are getting more back in a month, then they say they are sold out for good, then they sell them to employees only, now they sell refirb ones on ebay for what the new ones cost. shady companies like this need to go out of business.

meh... still happy with the 2 that I bought originally for $87 each.

I see nothing wrong with what they are doing

I may try to snag a 16GB model. I love my 32GB (still on WebOS) and the wife has been making comments about "not sharing" ;) Just not sure though. She really wants it for ebook reading so I'd almost rather get her a Kindle Fire to make it easier for her to carry around.

Well they probably really are down to refurbs only.....so your going to bitch about a $99 tablet that is spec'd like most ~300-400 ones?? Wow, 1st time ive had to say this: #firstworldproblems

..... selling refurb ones is not the same as saying they are out of new ones, refurb units are to be expected....

*sigh* I liked it when ebay wasn't a store, it was an actual auction site, where most everything there was auctioned off.

Anyways, SD people are responsible for taking down Google offers with the $20 Newegg deal, wonder if there will be a similar rush and they'll hammer ebay as well.

You can count on it.

Any predictions of fleaBay either: totally melting down or lagging so bad as to take 4-ever to purchase. Same goes for PayPal as well. My prediction: fleaBay will get hammered harder than an intern at the White House, DEFCON 1 followed by total fleaBay meltdown, followed by millions pissing and moaning and demanding compensation or class action lawsuit.

Ended up giving my extra 32GB TP to my parents for Christmas actually...(Think my mom wants to play Angry Birds..lol) :p

funny thing is i originally wanted a 16gb but i could only get a 32. for me personally 32gb is mostly unused.. i think i have used less than 5gb even with 20-something apps installed.

maybe down the road i'll but some movies on it or something for plane trips, but currently i mainly just use it for web browsing.

oh yeah and i think ebay will definitely get hammered due to all the slickdealers

Wifi connection with CM7 is still flaky. If you just plan on using it as ereader the kindle app on webos is pretty good. You'll have to use an app called kindle import to load non amazon ebooks tho.

A little dissapointed with the lack of proxy control on my daughters Touchpad. I thought it was all good until she brought back home saying the school tech couldn't get it connected and sure enough it's a known omission in WebOS. Luckily there are proxy apps being developed so I'll find out Monday if it works for her. Otherwise, the thing is great, nice and speedy after it's been updated. I might pick up a 16GB if I'm able to snag one on Sunday and give it to my wife. Android 3.x on the Xoom is where it's at for me mostly because of the real man's screen resolution for remote access usage.

Don't get me started on Slickdeals. I'm curious how many of these refurbished models show up again for resale at a slightly higher price, unless HP puts limits on how many a person can purchase.

Anyways, good luck to all those looking to buy a Touchpad, they are very slick devices. And if you need proxy support there is hope. Developer mode is a search term away using JustType and setting up the transfer software to install PreWare is too simple.

touchpads *yawn*

Why not just use Calibre?

The kindle app will not load the ebooks unless you do it through your amazon account. You can use calibre to load the ebooks into touchpad so you have covers and metadata copied properly but you'll still need the kindle import app in touchpad to import the ebooks to kindle so you can view them. If all your books are in your kindle account then no problem, just log in and kindle app will sync automatically.

I hope this prevents all those jerks who bought 10 during the firesale from selling theirs.

Actually if you check on craigslist you'll find a glut of touchpads selling for reasonable prices now. I'm sure another month and you'll start finding them at HP firesale prices.

My Touchpad is slow as heck with WebOS. Even unusable at times while trying to play any YouTubr video above 480p.

in for 4 ( two ebay/paypal accounts) then reselling them for a profit and becoming a total douchebag like the majority of slickdeal members
Good day gentlemen!! :mad::rolleyes:

i had bought one of these for the $87, but sold it cause i didnt use it, now with cm7 out, im wanting to go for another.

Hmm CM9 (with ICS) is supposedly progressing nicely.... Maybe I should consider this.

cm9 wont be out for a few more months.

btw i might have posted the wrong date. i think sunday the 11th is when they sell it to hp employees, and monday the 12th is when they'll sell the rest to everyone else.
