ATI Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5 - $119 w/free ship

Good deal still.. keeps up for the most part with the GTX 560 and on par with the 6870 in most games, especially if/when overclocked at all.. I've got a non-reference Gigabyte model that still plays everything I throw at it.

Sweet deal for a budget build. I'm building my brother in law a machine to play SWTOR, and this should easily max it for cheap.

How much faster is this than my 8800 GTS 512, and is it from that gen of video cards that sucks crazy power? I have a 520 Watt PSU, and if possible, would like to get this, and then run my 8800 GTS 512 as a physx card. Whaddya think, bad investment?

bad investment. You should get a classic Muscle car instead.:p

I had a Visiontek 5850 for awhile. I don't think it's a power hog, but it requires 2x power connectors (6+8 or something like that). It was a LOT cooler running than the Radeon 4850 that it was replacing. It's about 2-3x faster than a 8800 GTS-512 (looking at Anandtech Bench or THG Charts).

Anyone ever order from here before?

Seems to be a mixed bag of reviews on reseller ratings and this price is like 50% cheaper then any other site so I'm a bit skeptical.

I'm really interested in this deal though, need another 5850 for xfire.

*edit* after reading more review it sure sounds like some of their stuff is recertified at best and just plain used and resold at worst.

Would that be a decent upgrade from the 4670 in my sig? If so, I'll shell out a little cash for one!
BTW, reading under the specs, it does say "Brand New".

My first post was a joke, 5850 is the host choice for bit coiners, but I guess that fad has passed. This is a great deal, cheaper than the 6850 and more powerful.

It does use 2 6-pin power connectors. Now this would be my first gpu that I actually have to provide power to so here's a dumb question- are they regular molex connectors?
EDIT: never mind. just looked at the specs from my psu and it has the connectors I need.

Not necessarily a bad investment.. I just upgraded to a 5850 from a single 8800GT and can say I've noticed a huge improvement in a lot of newer games at least.. If I were you, I'd probably try and sell the 8800GTS though as partial payment for this, but that's just me..

Yeah it would. I have a 5670 in my wife's computer. It's a great card for a low budget, but doesn't come anywhere near my 5870. You would see a very VERY noticeable increase.

I ordered from there a few times, I got one refurbed microphone for free (I paid shipping) and a couple of ps3 accessories which were still sealed. they ship from NY. they all work fine, so no complaints from me

this sounds like a hot deal to me!. I run overclocked 5830s @900mhz and they score around 3500ish in 3dmark2011. Play my games without any issues -- i would assume a 5850 would be 10-15% faster then my 5830s.

Bitcoin mining is still quite profitable, value is currently over $3 and difficulty has plummeted. I run 3 cards (5830s and a 6770) after the cost of electric i profit $40 a month right now, not to mention heat 1/4 of my home for free.

Can this site be trusted?? How can they offer 1-year warranty on an OEM? All the reviews say they've received broken or non-working parts, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

A few months ago, I could buy a $10 newegg card for for 1btc. Now it's a $10 newegg card for 3btc, and the difficulty has gone way up.

I have ordered lots of items from there. Never had any problems. Everything was factory sealed, or refurb & sealed. Looks great.

When I started bitcoin mining in july, a btc was worth around $15 for one BTC. every month the value of bitcoin dropped and the difficulty increased until about september. Difficulty has been dropping 10% every two weeks. Today difficulty is only 50% of what it was in July.

I am currently mining and profiting $40 a month after electric. My kwh is only 7.2 cents though. For what its worth Bitcoin was $1.9 about 10 days ago and it was around a break even point so i stopped mining for a few days.

You can crossfire these with 5870s right?

Any chance that this is a model with a "fixed" display port (so that I can use it with an Apple display?)

My motherboard supports 3 of these in crossfire. I wonder if it would be worthwhile?

i bought one for xfire but I think the 1 gig of ram would make tripling these not the best idea.

i'm tempted but i think I'm still going to go for dual 5830 cards. I can get two for $155 and get performance greater than the 6970

Yeah they seem super shady, under contact they don't even have a phone number you can call! that means no customer service LOL
