Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines $5 75% off

If you haven't played this game, you owe it to yourself to play it. They have some fan/community made patches for the game, that work just fine with your Steam install, you can google the patch, one is the True patch which has been updated to 7.4, that's the one I use.

It fixes a lot of the game's bugs, and it adds some new dimensions to the game, some new features and shit.

Anyway, this game is one of the all time classics, and I do not recommend that you play it without the patch because the game WAS released quite buggy, but by and large, the patch fixes almost all of the bugs.

This game is right up there with the great ones, don't miss it.

Definitely the best deal, almost would buy it again except the money no longer goes to the devs.

it was the same price at the end of july. havent gotten around to playing it yet, but everyone said it was well worth the money at that time too. can you post a link to the correct patch in the OP?

I got it from Direct2Drive a couple of years ago for $5... no DRM tying it to requiring me to be on Steam either!

I'm at work, and they block gaming related links, a quick google search of VtM: Bloodlines True Patch should get you there.

Does it work on 64bit Win7?

Yes sir, I'm using that, and there's no problems getting it to work. You MUST apply the 7.4 patch to have everything working properly, I want to emphasize that to you.

The story, the action, the world itself, it's all really immersive if you allow yourself to get caught up in it, from start to finish. It's one of the most overall satisfying experiences you can have as a PC gamer.

This thread might be informative as well if you're interested in tweaking your experience, I had to dig a little for it.

this thread is also useful, but i don't think it needs to be bumped

Ahhh.. this will be a good game for my XP box.. and a good one for this festive time of the year. In for one.

Fail clearly has a HUUUGE boner for this game, lol.

Never played through the while thing, but what I played seemed fun. Seems to have a huge cult following.

I'm biased, I'm biased against shitty games, and I'm biased towards great games.

This game is fucking great.

I know, it's a good game. Just like every time I see it mentioned you pop up to praise it. Kinda like me with ArmA2, probably...

I also just purchased V:tM on Steam, too, so yay!

Take a moment while looking at your character creation after you install the patch so you can REALLY decide how you want to play the game.

I think I picked Toreador to see what it would be like to play a game like VtM using only the sheer force of my personality to make things happen my way, it's pretty cool!

I think there are several fan sites and wikis that can explain more in detail of what you can expect from each race, I do recommend seeking those out and seeing what suits you best. The game is about 40-70 hours long depending on your playstyle and how much of it you actually desire to play before completion.

It's very good man, you won't regret it, it's BEST played in chunks of time, like 2-4 hour sittings so you can get the most out of each time you load up the game. It's pretty immersive. You'll understand once you start playing it.

And so he should, because it's AWESOME!

Well if you've ever read my thousands of posts, you'd know that I take a pretty hard line when it comes to gaming, and I only like playing the best games out there. Sure, that's subjective, but I have a soft spot for small studio/indie games that are really well done.

This game is definitely up there, I also made a thread recently about how I emailed Gabe Newell about acquiring the World of Darkness IP and creating a new VtM game done with a modern engine.

He never replied, but god damn it, I tried.

If it says 7.4 then yes, i think that's the latest one, as I said, I'm at work so I can't look it up for myself. But I do believe that 7.4 is the latest.

Well of course you'd want the most updated one, if it's 7.8, then grab it :)

bought this at the end of summer for 5.00, one of my best purchases ever. truly a great game (after unofficial patches...)

What race did you pick? Out of curiousity. BTW, if you are playing or have recently started playing, mind listing what clan you decided to go with? Could be interesting to see what comparison we get out of this.

went with Gangrel, I think that's what it was called anyway... physically powerful race.... used the questionaire style class selector.

Well, that's where I'm confused. The True patch and the Unofficial patch don't seem to be the same thing...

Stick with 7.4 I think that's the one I used, it's the True patch.

I think the unofficial and True patches are different and offer different things, you should research on that.

Seriously, could all of the game patch, race and commenting on the best way to play this game take place in the proper game forum? This is Hot Deals not games and related.

We get it, it's $5 and the game was listed in other posts about STEAMS holloween deals so please stop the discussion about what patch, race or whatever is the best way to play the game and keep the discussion relevant to this specific forum,

Also, in the future please don't overpost stuff in Hot Deals because this game is included in the itemized STEAM holloween deals thread Dave3533 started. We do not need multiple posts about the same deal cluttering up this forum.

We have to tell people why it's a hot deal, and how to make it a hotter deal. As it by itself isn't that hot of a deal because it's almost unplayable.

Sides, we are basically discussing the deal. So what's your problem?

I thought about that.

Then I thought, "Who the fuck cares?"

I think considering the unofficial patches seem to be essential for getting this to run on Vista or 7, the discussion of proper patching is relevant.

Okay, solved all of the problems by using the search function in the PC gaming sub forum ( immagine that ). Now all of the discussion about this game can go there where it belongs but after skipping thru the few posts there it seems every question that has been asked has been answered in that thread in greater detail.

How hard is it to link to a discussion thread in a proper sub forum instead of mucking up a sub forum with discussion unrelated to that sub forum? Really people?

In the future [H]ardForum has a search feature and the ability to post links to help prevent thread derailment like what is going on here when people reply back and forth essentially bumping a thread to the top with discussion unrelated to the topic or sub forum they are posting in.

-Some limited discussion of why something is a good deal has always been allowed in [H]otDeals, please drop it. -Oldie

I remember this game coming up quite a lot in the Deus Ex:HR thread. Debating on whether I want to invest time in it...hmm!
