Air Filter for Fans?

Howdy all,

Well, got a bit of a problem. Using a Corsair H50 with two 120mm fans for push pull. I am pulling air from outside the case into the interior. Unfortunately, the radiator gets clogged up something fierce. I tried putting a coffee filter on the outside of case in front of the fan pulling in air, but unfortunately it raises my temps by 10-20 degrees. What other things or materials can I try?

Thanks.

Might want to try an air purifier or something in the room to help cut down on the level of dust and particles in the air. A good one can make a big dent in know often you have to clean your PC.

Yes, women's pantyhose is perfect. You might also try the vent filters you can get at Home Depot and such places (are there other places like Home Depot anymore?), which come in sheets that you can cut to shape.

I recommend DEMCi Filters. Just peel them off and wash them in the sink. They are made of fridge magnet material and will stick to steel cases. If you are putting them on a surface that doesn't have steel in it, they include another magnet piece that has double stick tape on it that you can stick to the case first, then stick the filter piece to it.

What kind of case is it?
You can get specialty filters for a few cases (Haf-X, some Lian-Lia models, etc.) here:

i don't use any filters. i just blow it out with an electric air duster when i think it needs it. as a result, my temps are superb. and trust me, my system is modded almost completely white on the inside and i live on a dusty avocado ranch, and i never feel like filters would answer any of my concerns.

How about reversing the fans and blow from inside the case outward ?
I can't see it being that big of a difference on your temps. I guess it depends on which case you're using.

Purely out of curiosity, which ones would you reccomend?

open cell foam, 1/4" max, it will just suck on to the case

I heard once that the screen used to screen in a back porch or window/door worked decent, or at least didn't hinder airflow. Anyone know about this?

the mesh holes are too big for dust, so, yes it won't hinder airflow.
one more vote for pantyhose and the DEMCI magnetic filters.
