SILVERSTONE TJ08E - New MicroATX Case

I got mines today.

This was annoying to work with when you have a big cpu fan and a non-modular PSU.

My temps were alot better then my Antec one hundred I moved everything into
IMG_20110824_153258.jpg

the case is SMALL
Anyway you can put the case right next to the other case so we can see a better of the depth and height differences? If you can of course...

Hi guys,

Got the TJ08-E about 2 weeks back from the distributor in SG(I'm Singaporean)..

Here's my build reusing some old hardware.

Good Day TJ08-E Owners!

Im planning to buy a new TJ08-E but i wanna know first the
exact measurements yellow line and white line (REFERENCE PIC BELOW)

yellow line (from 2nd 5.25 slot bay up to the floor of the TJ08-e)
white line ( from the 200m fan up to the motherboard tray)

30canhs.jpg

i wanna try custom water cooling on the TJ08-E. and im wondering if a 240mm radiator will fit. :)

TIA GUYS! Hope you will help me on this! :)

Have about the same plan but i am gona fit a 180*180 rad in the front so i don't need to modify it.
180*180 radiator have more surface area than a 240*120 rad if the are the same thickness.

just moved from an SG01-evo to a TJ08b-e due to heat issues and not being able to fit my H60 inside without high temps.
much cooler temps after the transplant even setup as an exhaust.:D

Couldnt wait for bulldozer so got an i5 2500k, damn my impatience :D
Nice clean looking build, just wondering what fan are you using on the front, seems its not the Silverstone AirPenetrator, is it more quiet or better airflow?

Hi Abula, its a Phobya G-Silent 18 Fan.

If specs are to be believed from manufacturers then at full speed:

Silverstone 34db - 130cfm - 1200rpm
Phobya 18db - 100cfm - 700rpm

Its definitely a lot quieter than the silverstone. Iv got mine 7 volted so i dont know exactly how loud it is but its pretty quiet and still pushing through enough air for my system.

Thanks for the info, i also dont like the Silverstone fan, even at the low settings (900rpm) i found it too noisy, with a zalman fanmate i turn it down to 650rpm where is decent. I wished other manufacturers had 180x32mm fans, but i might give a try to the Phobya, thanks again for the info.

Yeah its crap there aren't more 180mm fans. The Silverstone ones terrible, its just far too noisy. Ideally id want a 180mm Noiseblocker Multiframe but as they dont exist the Phobya was the best one i could find and im happy with it.

One thing to note if you change the fan is you will lose the switch on the side of the case as that's attached to the Silverstone fan. Its not a big deal for me as i find those switches pointless but thought id point that out.

How is the stock 180mm fan connected to that switch?

The stock 180mm is too loud for my taste on high. Might switch it out to that Phobya

Its connected like this:

It leaves you with two choices really. Take the entire fan out and be left with a small hole in the side of the case (like i did) or leave the switch in place and just remove the wire but be left with a switch that does nothing.

Why silverstone did this i don't know. Lian li cases iv worked with that have switches, have the fan just plugs into a normal 3 pin header. So thanks Silverstone

EDIT: I also used THIS phobya cable to 7 volt it.

To be honest I thought the same thing. The fan is even louder then my video card and CPU fan on low. Which Phobya were you looking at?

Does anyone have any recommendations on a 1155 mATX board? I know a few good ATX options, but next to nothing about mATX ones. I was looking at the Maximus IV Gene-Z and I was wondering how the onboard sound is compared to a actual sound card. It seems it has a few features my xtremegamer currently has. If I can get by with that I can avoid having to drop another $50 on a new pci-e sound card it would be great. Just starting to get sick of this Athlon II I am on and looking at my options.

To me the Gene Z is the best Micro ATX 1155 mobo, but refereing to the sound card, its just a realtek with software/codecs from creative, its not a true xfi, to my none audiofile ears its good enough.

Just curious, do you think there would be any difference at all between ITX and MATX power consumption wise? Would disabling the I/0 devices in BIOS you don't need help at all or do they only use power when in use?

Thanks

Here is mine, sorry for the bad pics but I was in a hurry. Maybe tomorrow I'll get new pics.

Now the good stuff, max GPU temps under 3Dmark where 53c and CPU didn't get past 52c either according to Core Temp. Asus Utility reports a whooping 10c less on average, all good stuff and it's very quiet at the same time. Can't be happier. The only thing bugging me is that the Thermalright Shaman arrived a bit bent like you can see on the pics.

Wow nice and clean. I ended up getting the MSI z68 g45 and gtx 560 ti to go with my 2500K. The maximus is great but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much.

Indeed it's a bit expensive but very nice, some better pics

I didn't know you can take out that HDD cage. I will have to do that when my parts come in. Highly considering switching to a Corsair H series cooler as well. I have a Venomous X at the moment though, so I am in no rush just would like the extra space.

Here is my setup.

I use dropbox public folder, copy public link here and paste the link. Voila

Can someone post a pic of this case next to another MATX or ITX case so I can get an idea of how small it is? Thanks.

That's the first time I've seen a watercooled PSU in a build. This is a really interesting build from a watercooling perspective, in such a small case as well.

what rads/fans are you using?
temps?

is there any internal cooling?

it seems pointless to make a sff watercooled pc, but with external cooling

For all my builds i have a cooling system under my floor a just have to plug my system(s) in the wall (quick disconnects) my rads are the Watercool MO-RA 3 with 8 Silverstone AP121 controlled by Aquacomputer aquaero 5.the system runs about 20C Thanks!

Very nice build G-Skull. What is the device mounted behind the 180mm fan? Seems like its blocking a lot of case airflow. Isn't there room to mount it horizontal?

With the fittings on the back of the PSU, it would probably look neater if they were hooked up the other way around and the hoses cut shorter (unless the PSU water block requires a specific flow direction)

just ordered :))) 100€ with postcost :X

rampage iii gene + i7 920 + 3x2gb + gtx275

With the 180 fan it's now 50% for the case and 50% for cooling the electronics inside the device
About the PSU it's not possible to make a clean angle with the Tygon hoses so on this moment it is the only good solution.

Thanks!

What is the device? And do you get any coil wine from the PSU? How is it performing? Thanks.

The Device housing the 24V pumpcontrollers and the aquaero 5 fan controller.
For the PSU power that what you get here in europe 1700W quiet cool and perform well.
