Post Your Mac Setup!

how is the new mac wireless mouse, good for windows? is it good as a g500 logitech?

It depends, functionally the Magic Mouse is good in OSX, but less so in W7.

But the most important part of a mouse is comfort IMHO.

If you are a "finger tipper", then the Magic mouse is awesome, if you are a palm gripper, then it sucks horribly.

(To find out, use a mouse like you normally would. And then take a second and look at your hand. Are you touching the mouse just with your fingertips, or are most of your fingers and/or palms touching the mouse.

If it's the former, you're a "finger tipper" and the Magic mouse is quite comfortable, if the latter, you're a "palm gripper" and you would be much better of with something else.

I don't use the apple mouse in windows, i just use a logitech wireless one for games. I tried to use it once when playing BFBC2, but i kept shooting instead of zooming in the scope because there isn't two clear separate buttons like traditional PC mice.

Office upgrades on the way, thinking about 27" iMac and 27" ACD. Turn that piece of shat Samsung monitor into a TV. This is a new room some I'm going to be adding some additional stuff.

Have Plex on a Mac Mini server in the HT. Love it. Wife loves it. Kid loves it.

Sold my older iMac today...so back to a single. Two were just too much on my desk.

I just posted these in the LCD setup thread over in displays, but since it's a mac system I thought to also put it up here. You can read more details about it in the LCD thread.

Not really Mac-related but still cool :)

Specs on the 2011 mini server:
2GHz quad core i7
8GB RAM
240GB OWC Extreme Pro 6G SSD
750GB 7200rpm HDD
USB Blu-ray reader (the white thing to the left of the mini)

The laptop is a 2009 13" MBP, with 2.53GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD. Still running Snow Leopard which I will probably keep on there until they fix Lion.

Everyone posts such nice photo's here, my crappy previous ones just do not fit in. Alas, here are some new, less crappy ones.

The desk. (iMac & Dell U2711 connected to the Lian Li X2000F.)

The Macbook Pro with Dexter decal from Etsy.

Whilst not shown in this set of photo's, previously, people requested my current wallpaper; so I'll add that as well.

Specifications and reviews on all devices seen in the pictures above can be found on my website.

@Ruahrc Is that Windows 7 on your Mini? Traitor!!!

? Nope it's OS X. Where do you get Win7 from? Maybe it's the dark background but you can clearly see the OSX dock in the middle of the display

Although I am considering bootcamping a Win7 partition onto it, since I have the space...

Oh I was talking about on the TV, it kinda looked like the win7 start menu in the bottom left.

Oh, no that's Adobe Lightroom (running on OSX). It has a full-screen mode that removes the various OS task/menu bars and takes up the whole display so you're not wasting any screen space. Amazing that- full-screen application concept existed (and is MUCH better executed in this case, as it takes full advantage of a second monitor) long before OSX Lion.

Nice Setup all of you guys, I must post mine soon heheh...

Ive been using apple magic mouse for the last 10 months, I can't stand this anymore because it won't fit my hand nicely. I started to fall in love with magic Trackpad - really smooth slide over at your finger tips and no more wrist pains (btw Ive not use magic mouse for while)....how about you guys?

I never get tired of looking at these threads. It's amazing how nice everyone's setups are.

I just created a site www.Macwars.net where you can submit a setup and vote on the most aesthetically pleasing Mac setups. If you're interested in submitting your setup into the database, click the 'Submit Setup' in the navigation bar. I would really appreciate it.

hows the performance of the mba and ATD?

It's okay. With both displays going, the animations when switching spaces or activating the launchpad are not nearly as smooth and can stutter or hitch. It's not a huge deal, and I've noticed this in other multi-monitor mac setups, although the 15" Macbook Pro definitely feels smoother driving two displays. Scrolling animations are fine though and overall application performance seems the same.

With the lid closed and just the Thunderbolt Display active, everything is perfectly smooth.

I use it with both displays running, because I prefer the increased screen space and the space switching animation jerkiness doesn't really bother me as much as I thought it would. You can get around it anyway by mapping your spaces to hot keys, which makes the animations much faster. It's probably worth stepping up to a MBP if you're really anal about this stuff. Honestly, I'm pretty amazed at how well the MBA holds up when driving a big display--it's ridiculously fast given how small it is.

Can you make the "Vote For This Setup" text some other color than white? It's hard to see.

did u tried playing any games? sc2?

Starcraft 2 was extremely stressful on my MBP 15" 6750M at 1440x900. There's no way the Intel Integrated graphics on the Air can drive that at 2560x1440.

That's awesome, suprememcy. Is that your daily machine? If not, do you use it often? I love the look of the older LCDs.

??? Supremacy i was talking about the CRT! you know.... the big tube monitor!? with the blue apple logo on its side.
