League of Legends -- how many [H] regulars?

noob question: I see mention of ranked games. yet I go to the rank section of my summoner page and it is blank.
I hit the big red button and play other people all the time, what am I missing?

Once your level 30, when you hit the big red button you can select normal, or ranked games.

Anyone else think Vayne is total bullshit? I play this almost nightly, and it really ruined my night more than it should have last night.

2 5v5 arranged team matches in a row where my team did everything they could to counter her, and outplayed the other team the whole game, but as both were long matches vayne just won anyway.

I have several hundred wins and would consider myself a pretty decent player, but it is pretty frustrating. I tried to watch some pro videos to get a better idea of how they counter her at the highest levels, but I noticed she was banned in most of the matches.

If anyone has any proven counters against a good vayne I'd love to hear them. Jax's leap seems like it might be good.

CC and Thornmail are what i would advise against Vayne as well as focus fire.

Oracle/Thornmail for vayne.

CC is the only counter for Vayne, since you can't build any kind of resistance or health cause she's doing %true as most of her damage with most builds.

Ok they lowered the ranking caps now,

1520 is gold (which gets you the Jarv skin).

So I'm looking for one person to duo with 5 vs 5 that intends to get there, plz msg me or through the lol client, Stiler.

Main Garen, can do well with Jarv, brand, Vlad, and many others, just not big on the support role.

what skin?

I might start playing ranked, i have like 550ish wins, time to start, i keep telling myself I will then end up not doing it :p

lazy Fail!

Those with a Gold rank at the end of the season (next downtime, so two weeks from this past tuesday) get a special Jarvan Skin.

No one knows what it looks likle, but it'll be extremely rare (gold is the top 3% of LoL players, silver is top 10%).

Most of the people on my friend list usually play normal games. I tend to only play ranked though :(, I have one friend that is fucking pro as hell with Morde, he can literally dominate 1 vs 4 once he gets mid/late game with him, but he plays normal most of the time for some reason. He played morde long before he was FOTM/used as AP focused and schools so many people that go the AP focused route.

With recent reports on the LoL forums about ranking, it seems that your rank is EXTREMELY limited by what you rfirst 10 games are like, and mine were terrible because I was still learning the ropes a bit at the start and did bad. However once those first 10 put you in an elo you get stuck because it's a LOT harder to get once you get more games under your belt.

There are people that have 50 games, with 28 wins/23 loses that are 1600'ish rank, then others that are like 500 wins/450 loses that are 1400 rank.

yes...

28/(23+28) = .549
500/(450+500) = .526

seems about right lol :p

I'll try to add you tonight, or you can try adding me lasthero

So I'm just coming into my own with Yi. Found a nice speed build that lets me dominate pretty quickly. Currently saving points, any idea who should be my next hero?

The subdivision right across from where my in-laws live. I hear the scarecrows are scary there.

Katrina used to be good, but not currently because the Meta game of tanky/cc teams.

Her ult will get shut down by most teams these days unless you rush a banshee's or something.

Hardly ever see her anymore in games.

Umm...those are two totally different champs...like, zero similarities other than the fact that they are both in the same game.

You're trying to compare apples to beach balls. Both are good at what they do.

And if it really comes down to Jarvan than get Irelia instead.

I've got over 200 ranked games on Jarvan, and I go against Irelia top a lot. I find that when both are farmed Jarvan actually tends to be more useful. The issue with Irelia is that solo top is usually given to the tank these days unless you have a jungle tank. Irelia's just not tanky enough to do that job that well and a lot of the time the team ends up not having a tank. Once you learn how to initiate well and use your cc well in grp fights as Jarvan, you're a huge asset to your team.

Of course, that's all probably not true in the lower elo or the majority of normal games, where if someones good enough at Irelia they can carry their whole team.

Irelia is one of the strongest carries in the game. Mainly because of her true damage output + the ability to build tanky and still be a hard hitter.

She's a strong anti-melee dps (likle jax, but more ad focused).

Irelia needs solo, she is a strong carry and unlike range dps (who generally go more glass cannon) Irelia can farm, go triforce, then go pure tank after that and still carry.

Both are great champions, I think who's better will come down less to othe champion and more to the skill of the summoner in those roles.

Just got gold! Went on like a 10 game win streak. Last 2 games were sketchy as hell but we pulled through. Now I can't play until the reset. :p

Lucky, I got up to 1450, so close, then fell back down to 1330 by today, thanks to games of leavers and feeders. Literally a 6 game losing streak where I'd go like 10-0, 9-2-13, etc and then just feeders galore on my team.

About to get to level 15 which means I will have to play some normals soon for good IP.

Strongly recommend you start before you have to. Bot games teach the basics, but you should have a strong enough handle on that by level 5-10. Jumping in to normals from all bots at 15 could prove a nasty awakening unless you have previous experience with MOBA type games.

I just need to find someone to carry me to level 20 so I can go back to playing AI.

Why? Trust me, when you get to 30 with a full set of masteries and runes... bots are just slightly more annoying purple caster minions. You get to the point where past about level 3 or 4 you're farming them like minions. They die, run back in lane, you stomp them. Repeat. Late game people end up ignoring towers and just running around trying to find the biggest concentration of bots to kill. I've ended some games with 40+ kills with burst mages like Cassiopia, Brand, and Ryze. There's no challenge anymore. The only ones you even acknowledge have heavy CC, and that just means you focus them down first. Others die if they come in range.

You shouldn't even have that mindset if you're interested in playing this game long term, I'm sorry, but I gotta be blunt here. If you're afraid to play normal games, then this isn't the game for you.

Definitely levels 1-10 should be spent playing bot games and acquiring heroes, after that, you MUST play Normals and get experienced, so at 30 you'll have some idea of what you want to do as far as spending your IP and what heroes you want to play as.

Otherwise, you might as well uninstall LoL, cause it isn't the game for you.

I'm not saying this to be mean or to pick on you, i'm saying it as a matter of fact based on my own experience and almost 1100 games played.

I would have no plans at all of playing normals if there was not a penalty for playing AI. I enjoy the PvE aspect of AI. I am only going to play normals because it is more IP than AI after level 15, once I have the champs I want I will go back to AI intermediate because that is what is fun for me.

so I think Xin Zhao may be the next champion I play as...Seems fairly similar to Master Yi?

Good? Bad?

Xin Zhao is okay, but I dont think hes better than Yi really.

A good Yi is one of the most annoying champs out there to play against. He is one of the best backdooring champs. A fairly fed Yi can just run up to a tower with no creeps, solo it, and sprint of at 100mph. He can also do insane damage, almost on the level of trynd. The counter to this is obviously to stun and kill him quick, but if he's good at staying on the edges of fights or coming into fights late, he can tear through a whole team. It is kinda fun to watch a Jax hard counter him though.

That said, Xin is a much more straight forward champ. Build a little offense at the start (ghostblade is good) and then go for a ton of defense.

I wouldn't say one is significantly better than the other. They are actually played quite differently.

sometimes when i play LoL I feel like there is no talking by the players what so ever, im not trying to hate on LoL but I feel HoN is a different type of game when it comes to the players. I feel when I play LoL im just doing whatever and that's really it.

This is true at lower levels of play. People that are "serious" usually get on TeamSpeak or similar, though.
