It's out now, and I'm in-game!

gogogogogo!

Edit: Guys, please don't post any spoilers in the thread. We really don't want to ruin the game for everyone else.

you should indicate spoilers or no spoilers so people who don't want to be spoiled will be prepared

JUST got preorder pricing - 20% at GMG under the wire, Was going to hold off for a few days... Damn, no sleep i guess. ;)

Got through the first section. Pretty awesome. Gotta say though it's hard to LP a game like this when I'm too interested in what's going on to actually comment on it. Oh well, off to bed, then uploading a couple episodes, then school, then more game playing.

I'm about to upload some maxxed out pics at 1600p. Is it ok if I post full res pics on here?

Edit: won't seem to post the pic..

Some screenies of the intro, I'll post more later since my first class of the school semester starts at 7am .
Everything Maxed. 6950 2gb, 1920x1200, MLAA, 16x AF, Soft Shadows, High SSAO, and DOF, Post-Processing and Tessellation enabled. You can look at my framerate on the topright.

The steam image compression messed up the image quality so ingame it looks sharper, but this is a nice idea of how the game will look like.

TBH, the game doesn't look as nice as I'd hope, but It doesn't matter since it's freaking Deus Ex and I'll be to enthralled with the story and gameplay!

Edit: Oh yeah lol, there's an achievement you can get in the very beginning of the game, I knew the second I was messing around there would have to been some kind of achievement for doing it, and I wasn't surprised at all when it popped up. :D

I'm heavily impressed after an hour, and I'm difficult to please. If the story pans out as good as it started, and there's plenty of good choices/quests and the game is long enough... easy GOTY. They've done so much right this time. No console port rubbish. You can even change your FOV in the options menu and use the fucking numpad to enter numeric codes in the game, something long omitted by game developers. AWESOME.

edit: No problems whatsoever SO FAR running maxed out with high FXAA on sig rig in DX11 mode with tesselation on Win7 x64. Impressive!

Game crashed, so decided to pop in here to comment before calling it a night.

Digital AE edition soundtrack is actually lossless.

Is the lack of comments and sign of people being very enthralled with the game? :p

I really like the visuals actually in this game, but I've always preferred aesthetics and art design over just technical graphics and photorealism. The world is very well designed and interesting, this is from my in game impressions as well as briefly looking at the concept designs in the art book.

Playing at Deus Ex difficulty mode, and I think it captures the feel of a being an augmented human well. You obviously have a lot of advantages over the normal humans, but you aren't invincible.

Try turning off triple buffering and vysnc, might make the mouse movement more responsive to your liking.

2500k + GTX560ti at 1920x1080 with everything on + FXAA high runs fine, mostly around 55-65 fps. But I'm doing stealth, my preferred way of playing DX, so haven't tried any heavy fire fights, might be lower in those.

Game doesn't actually have "quick loads" in that it loads quickly. The plus side of this is it indirectly discourages to much quick load trial and error style play.

So it's a proper PC game that's also on consoles? Wish more devs did this!

Apparently early on they decided that they needed to do the PC version right.. so they contracted out to Nixxes pretty soon after development started, as they couldn't handle simultaneous development of all 3 versions and didn't want the PC version to suffer, particularly since that was the location of the original fanbase for the first game.

edit - the soundtrack is lossless? holy crap.. It's usually just a collection of mp3s or something.. better get that going now..

The game has not crashed on me in 3 hours. My cousin and wife both love this game too. GOTY. For sure.

Only flaw I can find so far, and I've tried to find flaws: long load times. Everything else is perfect, it even feels like Deus Ex and has tons of the original voice actors! This old DX fan is rejoicing!!

The overall quality/polish level is up there with The Witcher, Mass Effect 2, DAO.

This is a seriously sweet game. You will hear no more from me in this thread because I will spend every waking minute playing this game for the next 3 weeks and then I'll probably forget to come and post a followup. Or maybe I won't. Because this is shaping up to be one hell of a good experience.

God damnit money from my paypal hasn't transferred to the account I was gonna use to buy this game. Rage!!! One more day god damnit.

Wow so this game is great! Everything maxed out at 1080p as well, smooth as better.

Only complaint I have is long load times. :(

Native AMD HD3D support works great. I have yet to try 3D in crossfire mode as Tridef/IZ3D do not support it so i had it turned off at the time. Will try crossfire when i get home tonight, and report back. FYI im using a Optoma GT720 projector.

only have enough time for a taste, but this game is awesome so far. am impressed.

even on my c300 ssd load times are really long.... longest I've seen on this pc.

Only played about an hour so far - excellent atmosphere though. I'm really enjoying it, and I can already feel the urge to play through in another style :)

As long as the load times aren't as bad as the original witcher pre-major patch release it hopefully won't be too crazy.

Hopefully Nixxes can and will fix the loading issues.. it does take far too long.

Aside from that, it feels great and runs well.

Can't wait to play more when I get home.

Looking for a GMG referral link guys, hook a sad brother who couldn't get a AE up :(

Game just gets stuck on the loading screen after I choose my difficulty level :(. Reinstalling it now grrr

I won't be able to play this until Thursday, but I'm all preloaded and ready to go. Loading times aside, I'm convinced this is going to be worth my time.

What kind of performance are you guy sgetting?

I expected it to run better for me.

E8400 @ 3.6
4gb ram
5850 w/ 11.8 drivers.

I can run the Witcher 2 at full settings except for the ubersampling and maintain 30+ fps on average.

IN Deus Ex I can turn down SSAO, turn off all AA, etc and it still runs like ass and is stuttering/laggy as hell.

Played about 20 minutes last night. Really enjoyed it. Couldn't find a way to look at my inventory though? (I swear to god I saw it in the gameplay videos, and it has an automatic management for inventory, which I switched off). Playing on Deus Ex difficulty was hard and I may need to do a few of the fixes for the mouse smoothness, as it's making it a bit more difficult than I'd like (I would like the difficulty to come from the game itself, not from wrestling with the controls).

So far the story seems good though - there sure is a lot of detail. I wonder how much freedom and exploration there will really be (seemed like there was something worth checking out in every room of the original). Either way, so far so good. Ran decently well with most things maxed on a Q6600 @ stock, 4gb of RAM and a GTX 460.

I'll fire it up on the eyefinity with the i5 2500k, 16gb ram (overkill :X) and 6950 and see how that looks.
Might go back to the 460 for the 3D vision, if I like it enough. We'll see!

I wonder why? That's an immersion killer for sure.

I don't think the load time selves are long, it is mainly that "reloading" is long. Generally if you reload a save from a level for most games it has most of the data cached to memory, but it doesn't seem to be the case for DXHR, it will need to load the save data and map data. If you time fresh loads and "quick loads" the time will be approx the same. Like I mentioned the one thing is it discourages people from the "quick load" trial and error method of playing.

The other "issue," if you want to complain about that since people complain the other way, is the engine does not seem to stream in data after loading commonly seen on UE3, which would cut down initial load times by quite a bit. Nor is there any "masking" type scenes to hide loading the background, so that the areas are actually chopped up.

Press "I" to bring up the inventory. The other thing is the beginning part is basically an interactive intro/tutorial piece, so you aren't able to do anything yet, if you are still there. The exploration would also be a bit limited, although you can do a bit in the very first room before leaving.

As for controls, try turning off triple buffering and vysnc. Also you might want to adjust hori/vert sensitivity to different values if you change default FOV.

I heard 3D vision actually doesn't work properly out of the box, only HD3D (AMD's version) does, which is a first and minority. No harm in trying though.

Try without triple buffering and vynsc. Also the movement by design is a bit jerky, so it feels like you have momentum. Don't expect Q3 Arena type smooth movement.

Finally got it kind of working but this game is not well optimized at all. Massive screen tearing with some type of extreme mouse smoothing going on. Not sure what's up with the loads as sometimes they work and other times I have to end task and restart the game again and pray it works. I think I'll wait a month or so like I did with the Witcher 2 and try again after they patch it; if they patch it.

If you have triple buffering on, turn on vysnc. Otherwise turn both off. Having triple buffering on and vysnc off seemed to cause issues. Not sure about vync on and triple buffering off, didn't try that.

The other thing is if you adjust FOV, you need to tweak the mouse sensitivity on both axis.

That's probably it. I'm still very early in the game and taking my time, "I" was the first thing I tried, so I guess I just can't do it yet. :p

I'll try that with the controls. I just wanted to see what the intro was like and get a feel for how it started out. I'll probably restart the game anyway so I can get the start to finish experience when I have more time to sit down in front of it.
