HP Touchpad 16GB $99, 32GB $149, Active for .edu

So has anybody actually gotten one of these from Wal-Mart and had it ring up at either $99 or $149 without somebody having to do a price override?

I called every Walmart, Best Buy, and Office Depot within 30miles and they all say sold out!!!

=( So, much for cheap tablet for wife on our 11yr anniversary

Of course I kinda want one of these goddamn things, but they're out of stock. Probably forever.

doubt it several people over slickdeals mention a few stores will be getting new shipments next week. Don't ask me for link , it is somewhere in the 9000+ thread over slickdeals :p:D

Walmart had it here in Northern VA / DC Metro area for 99 - 149 at 7am on Saturday everywhere. Rang up at that price, was a goddamn mad house there almost as bad as Black Friday.

I ordered from HP today.. think they will price adjust to 149.99 on Monday? Pretty sure they have to considering their site says it is 99/149. When buying it costed 500+!

Well, finally got through to somebody at my Wal-Mart after 20 minutes of trying. Not only is their system still reflecting $498, but the item now shows as Deleted meaning they won't be getting anymore.

So I guess I'm gonna have to just return mine. :(

I wonder what they plan on doing with the white ones that just came out. Slightly faster proc (1.5 vs 1.2 IIRC).. if those go on sale I'm going to try to get one of those for sure.. The ones now I heard are a bit slow.

Finally got my order confirmation email, it took since I made this thread until now to get it

Got my order processed as well! I'm so glad HP went through, as I could not just walk into a store and order being in Afghanistan :(

Can't wait to prop that thing up and run movies in my off time :D

Got an order confirmation # during checkout, but no email yet, ordered from Hp Small Business site.

Took forever to get it to process, keep getting some error crap, I'm sure their server's are getting slammed.

See what happens...

Well, just checked my order status and:

Order number: XXXXXXX
Order date: 8/21/2011

HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 16GB-Black - This unit has full warranty but does not qualify for the return policy!

Subtotal: $99.00
(Estimated) Tax: $7.86
Shipping: $21.87 (nasty shipping huh?)
Total: $128.73

Hmmm... Guess I'll try to call on Monday.

Can anybody post a screenshot of the order for the 16gb that includes shipping / tax. I'm going to see if I can get sears to price match.

Bestbuy local store pickup would be atleasta 2.5 hour one way trip. Not worth it. After talking with both kmart / sears rep service. Kmart wouldn't match but sears would as long as i follow their terms and conditions. Just wanting to see if anybody could post one so I can get it pricematched at sears retail outlet.

bestbuy.com has them for free ship right now

Went ahead and bit the BB for $114 shipped. Thanks for the heads up iTravis. Its bound to do what I need at the bare minimum and at the most hopefully we will see it gingerbread rooted. Then down the line see it honeycomb rooted when it is opensource. XDA is pushing for it hard, hell I would donate to the cause as well if someone takes up on the project.

Guys, I'm deliberating between getting the 16GB or 32GB and I can't make up my mind. On one hand the only thing I'll be using it for which will use memory is apps. On the other hand IDK how long I'll keep something light and versatile like this, and if I run out in several years' time that'll suck. Should I fork over the extra $50?

16gb will plenty. To quote a deciding post for myself: $150 for 32gb is a hot deal. $99 For 16gb is a steal. :). If its for apps only you will not be using all 32gb, the market is currently limited. Even then, I still think you will have a hard time filling up the ssd when it gets Android rooted with a much larger market.

Finally got my confirmation email from HP! I ordered two of the 16gb for $180 on friday night. Talk about nail biting...

Ended up getting it from Best Buy. 123 shipped. Couldn't see free shipping anywhere and didn't want to miss out. This is the perfect price for me for a tablet. Chances are it'll be very rarely used so no big deal if it's 100 bucks. Totally looking forward to android for it.

I'm going to RadioShack in the morning. From what I can tell the link I posted is the only web page on the Intertubes which proclaims that they're slashing prices today. If it is in fact true it's going to be open season over there and I'll just stroll in. And I've decided on the 16GB at this point. Someone on another forum said that with Android he put 10 H264 movies, 175 Apps, and 1400 songs on his Android before he reached 16GB so I have nothing to worry about. Thanks Llama for the input.

Hurray! :)

just found out that ubuntu works on the tablet(might want a BT keyboard for easier typing)

if you do that, then 32GB might be better

Ordered a 32GB around 7:30 at BB but missed out on the free shipping. Oh well, maybe it'll show up, maybe it won't. Either way is fine with me.

sounds good to me... my wife just purchased the Thrive for 429.99...this should put a smile on her face :)
