Where to buy Ducky DK9000 or Rosewill RK9000 keyboards?

Resident one post wonder here coming at y'all with a little dilemma -


I've been using the same keyboard for the past seven years since my first computer. It's a rubber dome full-sized Compaq keyboard that has served me well, but I think it's time I giver her a rest.

After some extensive research, I managed to learn all about mechanical keyboards and the pros/cons of the different switches. Ultimately, I have settled on either Cherry MX Blue's or Browns, Brown preferably.

Two keyboards caught my attention, and I assume they're both clones, since the same manufacturer works for Filco and Steelseries... and the model numbers look suspiciously similar ;) Mainly the reason I chose these two over their brand-name cousins is simply due to price. I have an absolute limit of 125$, and I'd like to spend as little as possible on it without sacrificing build quality.

However, I have a conundrum: I cannot find these keyboards to buy anywhere! Rosewill's page says 99$, as does Newegg.com, however none of them have it in stock. Absolutely nothing is on Ebay.

I have found some Ducky DK9008's on sale, but they're in Australia, so it goes way over my budget.

Can anyone help me find one of these? Or perhaps an equally cheap alternative?

If you are okay with blues and want a steal, get the Razer Blackwidow for $70 on Amazon. I have one and it really is an excellent deal. I also really enjoy the full macro ability that pretty much no other mechanicals offer. Don't let the $300 realforce snobs tell you the blackwidow isn't a deal for $70.

For browns or blues you can order a Leopold 10keyless on Elite Keyboards for I think $122 shipped. I was very close to doing this myself but instead I ended up ordering a Noppoo Choc Mini off qtan on geekhack for $101 shipped. I like the smaller form factor so I can truck it back and forth from work. I wish I could take my blackwidow to work to be honest with you because the macro on-the-fly would REALLY come in handy. I share an office though and the chattering blues are just to much.

Your best option may be to create your own custom keyboard on wasdkeyboards.com though. They have a semi-customizable option for $119 and you can choose browns and get a regular full size keyboard.
 
I'm concerned about the build quality of Razers. I heard they are practically the Skullcandy of gaming peripherals.

As for the Leopold keyboard, I have been considering that, but I really wish they made one with a tenkey. Not that I use it a lot, but there are some games that I assign keys that need to be out of the way, to the keypad. I'd like to get a full 104 key if possible.

Basically, I want to use the Leopolds as a last resort. If I can get the Rosewill or Ducky Channel ones at any reasonable price, then that would definitely be optimal.

However, I'll keep the BlackWidow in mind. Thankyou for the suggestion.
 
Razer makes some of the best and some of the worst peripherals. The blackwidow may not be everybody's cup of tea but it is a killer price and IMO a great board for the cost. You should cruise to best buy and check it out. And check out the youtube videos on it.
 
So, I have actually found a place to buy the DK9008's. I think the reason I overlooked this was because Tankguys was down yesterday. However, a challenger has appeared now, thanks to you, joia.

It would appear that the Razer Blackwidow has a Cherry MX Blue switch type in it, whereas I can choose from Blue or Black from what's in stock with the DK9008. It looks like the middleground Brown style switch is not an option.

I do a deal of gaming - although no heavy Starcraft and what-not, so I'm not sure which extreme end of the stick I should go for. Lots of tactile and clicky, or no tactile and non clicky?

If it's Singapore dollars, then I guess I'll pass. I am not rushing to buy a keyboard though, so I'll just wait it out.

It will be several months before any Ducky "Shine" keyboards see the US shores. Hasn't even been released for sale in China yet, or manufactured, or ordered for shipment here even.

What do mean? 1 US dollar = 1.2 Singapore dollar.
 
the reason you cant find the rosewill for sale anywhere is because its no longer being produced. if you are willing to go through a buying agent then there are TONS of boards from china available with just about any switch you would want. i know the KBC poker and Noppo Choc Mini are both around $80 on ebay with your choice of switch. i know there are a lot of others available. id check geekhack.org they have a really nice review section that has tons of stuff about imported boards.

personally im using a razer black widow. for $70 on amazon i really dont think it can be beat. its full size, very sturdy and the build quality is excellent. some folks dont like the gloss surface, but it really doesnt bother me. i was afraid i wouldnt like the blue switches, but i really find the clicky sound to be almost soothing when i type and the tactile feedback definitely helps in reducing errors.

i personally think brown switches are overrated, they are often recommended as an entry level switch for people new to mech keyboards, but more often then not you will read about people who are unsatisfied with their browns after a while and move on to something like reds. to me if you dont want the clicky noise, then reds are the way to go. you will pay a little more, but they feel wonderful and are excellent for gaming.
 
Yup, at $70 or $100 > nothing beats the black widow, great keyboard.
I got the ultimate though:p
