Not a bad deal for a nice Tegra 2 tablet.
 
This thing is a piece of pooh, but not a bad price if you're desperate.
 
Oh hell no, I wouldn't spend my cash on a Xoom, I went the Ipad 2 route.

I did however spend significant time with the Xoom, Asus Trans and Samsung Tab before making a decision to go with a tab that actually works for what I'm doing, which tbh aint much besides surfing and gaming.

The Asus is quality and has a good panel in it, but they all were the typical laggy android experience I've come to expect, I own too many android devices as it is so I went with an Ipad 2 to see what all the fuss is about, and I couldn't be happier with the experience.
 
The Xoom power button confused me for a while at the store. It's on the back o_O

I feel like I'd keep hitting it when I'm holding the Xoom.

No, I didn't buy one and don't plan on it. Maybe a Touchpad though because they're cheaper plus WebOS is awesome (most of the time).
 
should note that that price includes a refurb linksys wifi router... just got an ipad 2 for the wife however..
 
If ya'll wanted a Xoom, you missed out on the $100 off coupon from Staples. Could have gotten a new Xoom for this same price. It's expired now, but they've done it twice, maybe they'll have another $100 off tablets coupon soon.

I had a couple Xoom's, tried to like it, but the form factor just kinda stinks. Feels too heavy, bezel is just a bit too small to hold comfortably. So I returned them.

But the good side is this is the official Google tablet, it gets updates first, and will probably be the first Honeycomb tablet to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.
 
I think motorola stuff in general is just overpriced for what you get. they're almost as bad as sony with the whole premium-image thing where they think they can charge you 30% more for the same stuff that other reputable japanese companies spit out.
 
Agreed moto xoom is a POS, in general the first generation of android tabs is a big FAIL, the usual lag experience of android is still there, you've come to expect hardware accelerated GUI but still nowhere to be found. Oh BTW i've had 3 Tegra dual core phones and they all have the typical lag experience.

You guys tinker much? Thats the fun of Android. Overclocked my current Galaxy S 4G phone to 1.4Ghz with voodoo lag fix and its smooth as butter. I also used a friends Galaxy Tab and it was slow, rooted it and overclocked it for him and it is now also smooth as butter (took me maybe 10mins). You can get insane improvements over stock with little reading in an android forum.

Uh, I don't know what you're doing wrong, but every Android tablet I've tried has been smooth and solid. I own a Transformer and Dell Streak 7, (honeycomb & froyo respectively) as well as a single-core snapdragon-based HTC Incredible... they're all fantastic. I've tried a friend's iPad and found it no better, frankly worse imo since all it does natively is launch apps...
 
I have had my 3G Xoom since May and love it.... excellent tablet. No lag here.

For people who have never used iOS or WP7, android can be butter smooth ;) experience.
 
We have both the zoom and a samsung tablet - plus a droid two and droid x2 and we are very happy with them and their performance. Enough of the brand bashing here the OP was about a deal no one cares which is better take it to another forum.
 
They rolled Honeycomb out before it was ready. I tried it on my G Tablet, but then went back to Froyo. I only use it as an ereader, so no real loss to me. I wanted to get an ipad, but they rejected the Sony Reader App, which a lot of my books need, so I went with Android.

The G Tablet was never given a honeycomb release by Viewsonic... it has been flawless for me on my Transformer, which is a native device for that OS.

Its not just the time. Its the smoothness of the transition.

I have seen similar on many android devices. While 99% of the time iOS and WP7 are very very smooth.

I meant 1.1s on a 1s transition due to a tiny hitch :p ... I've yet to use a WP7 device but iOS and Android are practically identical in my experience in terms of smoothness (a split-second chopped frame is hardly anything to get up in arms about). The Android tablets I have personally gotten to try/own have been fantastic and better overall than the iClone Jumbo --- I mean, iPad :D. Regardless, I think it's absurd to threadcrap a good tablet deal for things most people don't even notice in terms of animations on transitions :p. 99% of the time Android is very very smooth too ;).

And you don't sound biased whatsoever.
There's simply too much data out there to support the "fact" that android while being open source and fun to "tinker" with just does not have the quality control of IOS, period.

Multiple versions of Android which is installed onto thousands of different hardware now, is in itself frustrating. Having multiple Android devices in the family and each of them sporting different versions of the same OS is borderline retarded this late in the game in the mobile device segment.

Lets not even talk about truly important differences like the market place and apps, you don't even want to go there.

Back on topic, even though the deal is dead, I guess that's a good price for a mediocre device.
