SILVERSTONE TJ08E - New MicroATX Case

Ordered one on ++++ last night because there is a store close to me so I can save the shipping and go pick it up and just my luck it's in stock on newegg this morning :p I hope ++++ gets a shipment soon!!!

I like the review that states if you turn it upside down you can get better cooling for the gpu, they could market it that way and add some extra stick on foot pads.(can being upside down be considered "eXtreme" ? ha)

Any chance for a silver edition of this case coming out soon?

The chances are slim at this moment unfortunately. Sales of silver colored cases has really declined over the last few years.

Has anyone tried the Corsair H70 or H80 in this case? I know the H60 fits and ive heard that the radiator on the H70 and H80 hit the CPU block in this case. I will be doing a little bit of overclocking and i dont know if the H60 will be enough.

From Link

The Corsair H80 is not compatible with this case. The second fan will eventually hit the CPU block. Although with some mods, there are several ways to get it to fit.

One of the guys on the OC AU forums decided to mount the fan externally so kudos to him. Although he did cut up the rear mesh.

You could also try to fit the Maingear EPIC 180 (180mm sealed water cooler)

is there any way to have 3 hdds in without that box? :( I have big heatsink on rams.

You can mount 3x 3.5hdd with lian li dual 5.25 adapter, even has a slot for 80mm fan, I'm on my bb so can't link, but if you can't find it ill post a link later on.

I thought there was a dual bay for 3 hdds but couldnt for the life of me find it :) All the ones I see are 3 x 5.25", be interested to see the link

That Maingrear Epic 180 would be nice but if u put it on the front wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the air penetrator fan? I like the idea of sticking one fan out the back of the case though for the H80.

I have corsair h60 so, i will try to get some little holder to bottom of case to hold 2 hdds, third in cdrom bay :/

lian li has nice hdd adapters, but price is more than difference between selling my rams at bazar and buy lower profile rams :/

Sorry but had a long days work, here is the link, Lian Li EX-23NB Black Drive Bay Expansion/Cooling Kit

This Lian-Li adapter will convert two external 5.25" drive bays into three internal 3.5" drive bays. All three drive bays are cooled by a centered 80mm fan. Comes with a washable air filter.

Another option, is to use something like Noiseblocker NB X-Swing HDD Adapter / Noise Reducer (im not sure if uses a single 5.25), i like more the lian li though with a fan and the front mesh should look nice with the mesh below on the TJ08E, but this is just a personal preference.

if you are going to use "Lian Li EX-23NB" you get probably problems with the psu because the length of Lian Li EX-23NB,

I think Om3h3nK! is right, i couldnt find mesurements for the Li EX-23NB, but assuming the front is at least the width of 2x80mm fans (50mm) and that the back is the lenght of standard hdd (around 140mm) that should be at least 190mm, probably more. Anandtech tj08 review seems very tight with optical drive (180mm).

Maybe try to noiseblocker mount, there is still room at the bottom of the case for a single 3.5 drive that shouldnt bother the memory nor the cooler as its below the mobo, here is a pic.

Hi, i own this case and use these - Lian Li EX-553

I have 2 of them and have a blu ray slot drive, dvd slot drive and 1 hard drive in mine but you could have 2 hard drives and place a third in the bottom of the case. Each EX-553 can also be used for 2 x 2.5 inch drives so you could use them for ssd's instead.

They are a bit tricky to get in as for some weird reason Silverstone decided to make the 5.25 bays slightly narrower than any other case iv ever owned, but then it wouldn't be a Silverstone case without something dodgy going on.

Just installed the H80 in this case. I bought it anyways despite all the research I did about fitting issues with this cooler and case. The install was pretty simple.

With both fans installed inside the case, one of them will barely (and I mean barely by couple mm) hit the CPU block but will still manage to install correctly. I don't think its putting much or any pressure/weight towards the block. I took the best pictures I can. Hope this helps for those on the fence about buying this cooler.

For those wondering about my temps. I posted them HERE in the H80 thread.

Got mine setup and all fits very snug and comfortable, this case can hold a lot and my temps are surprising lower (idle cpu-33c gpu-45c, an hour of mayhem on gta4 on ultra got my 580 to 78c) than what I thought I would have to deal with when going smaller in case size.

Large video card fits great, large 7"+ psu fits with 6".5+ fits together snug and the Noctua NH-D14 fits just fine (moved outside fan to back so no need for back fan, plus only one clip for each fan is need to hold so now no clips touching video card and no back plate is needed) though hard drives next to it are snug, the round blk sata3 cords are great for this case.

I felt like a surgeon that needed plastic gloves and lube..... but this case is mostly design and designed very well for most of today's hardware, sli would be cake with this case.
This case took the longest time to setup but was easily the funnest to setup that I have ever put together.
Now to read up on ITX. (I feel that I should have went straight to m-itx)

nice to see that the H80 fits, how about the noise 180mm Case Fan (Intake-High), H80 Fans (Exhaust-Med)?

Do you have photo's of the build?

"Do you have photo's of the build? "

Have not taken any, anything you specifically want to see ? (plus the existing photos are way better than I could muster)

"im tempted to sell my fractal arc mini and get one of these now"

I looked at the Arc mini but it is pretty big for a m-atx and the TJ08B-E is smaller and will still fit more than enough.

I can easily put two to three more 3.5 drives in and I already have two installed plus two 2.5 hd's.
I really want to use all 2.5 drives in this to make sure the heat stays low, my 3.5 1tb WD Caviar BLK sata2 7200rpm/32mb cache and my 3.5 WD CB sata3 640g get really hot.

Was thinking about just getting a couple cheap 2.5 7200rpm/16mb cache drives for internal data purposes (don't care for external devices).

Think I'll stick with this since itx has too limited hard drive space for my needs.

Temps are high IMHO, had the cooler as exhause on a 600t and temps where similar. Switched to intake push/pull and now idles at 29c load 55c

Does the layout of the case with a Tower Style HS/Fan (i.e. CM 212+ or CNPS 10x) negate the need for a rear exhaust fan? Seems that since there is not much space between the HDD cage and the heatsink, the fan needs to go on the rear of the tower and operate in a pull configuration and exhaust towards the back. Seems like that exhaust fan from the heatsink should push air out the back and not require an additional 120mm in the rear?

Also, I have a Hauppauge HVR-2250 PCI-e in my machine that will be up at the top since the mobo is flipped. I would guess that it might be a good idea to put my PSU fan down into the case as if I had it fan up then heat from the HVR-2250 could accumulate? Not sure about that, but just wondering what others might think.

I'm moving my Antec Solo build over to a TJ08-E once the pieces arrive.

Thanks, Bill

Low = Very quiet. High = Slightly loud and noticeable.

Interesting. What CPU + Speed? Fan settings?

Id have to say the intake 180mm fan is Low = loud, High = Very Loud.

Iv swapped it out for this FAN and 7 volted it. Its now whisper quiet.

My pc case is in a cupboard in my desk and even on low the silverstone fan was way too loud.
