There is a guy on craigslist who has a set for $90

He said the only thing that it is missing is a 3.5mm input cable and that he only has one so it can only be used as a 2.1 setup, does this sound like bs?

Here is his exact words
"> I only have one input cable (used for 2.1 mode). They are standard 3.5mm (headphone) cables (about $1 each on line) and you only need one if your soundcard does not support 5.1 surround. "

The originals or the Ultras?

You could haggle him down to $80 I suppose. With paypal you can dispute stuff, but for cash transactions it's only worth as much as his word, since you probably don't have the time to sit down and test it rigorously.

A 3.5mm cable is only a few bucks on amazon. Maybe he misplaced the cables.

$90 is fine, but the sub/amps have a high rate of failure.

I bought a set of craigslist once. Just as stated earlier had no way to test them at the time. Guy informed me all it needed was a fuse, and of course that does not seem to be the case.

They have been sitting in my closet ever since collecting dust.

From that day on I never buy anything without trying it out first.

You should sell it. Recover some of your cost.

I tried at one point but no one local seemed interested. I almost tossed them in the trash as well since I got fed up with them

Just keep reposting. It doesn't take that much effort lol and eventually someone will want it. Patience you padawan.

I sold mine on eBay last year for more than what I paid for them new. They were in perfect condition in the box though. I would say that $90 is very reasonable if they work.

No idea on prices since it was not working at the time of me picking the item up.

Well if you are willing to sell the sats and ship them to me, let me know! :)

90 for a working set is worth it. If it really is only missing the 3.5 connecter, I would buy them. I've had both the standard 5.1 and the Ultra's and the main difference is the sub and the volume module. The ultra sub is boomier, though both provide plenty of bass. As for the module, I found that the volume would jump from quiet to loud randomly at times, whereas the Ultra module was more consistent.

What do I use now? Mackie HR824's. Now those are some nice speakers ;)

I haven't had any trouble with mine. Not sure if I would sell mine for less than a hundred.
