For all those with a MicroCenter nearby, you can get $40 off ANY Intel motherboard with the purchase of any 2nd generation Core i5/i7 CPU. Use any of their great i5/i7 CPU prices and pick any compatible motherboard to get $40 off! Here is the link to the promo:

http://www.microcenter.com/specials/email/save40_eNews.html

I bought (yet another) 2500K at $179.99 and used the $40 off on a Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 Z68 mATX mobo, which brought it down to $109.99:

Pretty good deal if their previous bundles didn't include a motherboard you wanted. Says it's in-store only - I ordered online for store pickup. Not sure how long this is good for but will edit it end time once I find it.

Wow I just got my cpu and mobo from there. Damnit.

I am thinking about going for this deal.. but what motherboard to get thats cheapest yet still has good crossfire capabilies because I have two 5850s already.

Sounds good, did you see this in store or was it advertised anywhere?

This was sent in an email last night. Last time I was there, I signed up for their email club/newsletter thingy.

Go back there with your receipt and they will refund you the cost under their price protection plan.

+1, I'm sure they'll honor the lower price for you if you just go back there with your receipt.

Dont forget about the ~$30 in tax for a CPU/mobo combo.

That actually sounds pretty hot to me. MC's prices on procs are already down there with Newegg and some even much lower. You knock off another 40 bones for your motherboard and thats a pretty sweet deal.

Seems like it's fairly YMMV. I think the coupon was sent to people through email from MC (based on their purchase history).

thats worth a shot. It says to print the coupon out. I donno how they would know who its for.

When I got my 2500K and MSI GD-55 a couple months ago, I used one of the coupons with the deal.

Good deal, if you can find a motherboard you want. For some reason (I wonder why...:D) the $99 i3 2100 and a $85 Gigabyte combo doesn't give you the $40 motherboard discount. Or a $75 Gigabyte board for that matter. Both give discounts only if you buy the i5 2400 or higher.

Probably don't need another computer in the house anyway :p. I'll just use the old crappy AMD Athlon II 245 setup that has been collecting dust for a year as my HTPC.

did this with the i3 2100 and Gigabyte H67 itx board. Then immediately went to service and applied my $25 off coupon :)

$100 for processor, $110 for mobo, -$40 bundle discount - $25 motherboard coupon

did you have an actual coupon or did you print from the above link?

Dang! I thought the promo was for only i5/i7 processors. Did you cash register just ring it up with the promo automatically?

Just got back from buying a 2500k and MSI MSI P67A-G43 the motherboard was marked down to $69 after $40 off combo, $25 coupon and I still have $15 mail in rebate.

not bad

any of the cheaper mATX mobos a good deal?

Awesome deal. Sadly it would cost me $40 just in gas to get to the nearest Microcenter.

Original post edited with link to promo (which also lists all of the eligible CPU and mobos).

I wish I would've known about the $25 coupon when I picked up my combo - that would've made an already good deal really great!

Take the coupon and reciept in, and they will credit it back to you.

What is the best deal I can get for a i3 2100 & Mobo Combo? I want to make a WHS box.

took a printed one. Bought an i3 2100 + H67 itx board for $110+$100-$40 + tax. Went back in the next day with a printed $25 coupon and they credited $25 + tax back to my credit card. It ended up being $158. Not too shabby for an awesome SFF build (need to carry it on a plane to deliver).

Most (if not all).

Gigabyte's GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 is only $79.99 ($69.99 after MIR) with any LGA1155 CPU.

To put that in perspective, that is the same as H61 pricing at Newegg.

The quibble - this is B&M (not online) pricing. However, if you have at least one MC nearby, it makes it that much more difficult to pass on. (The same motherboard+i5-2500K tag-team for $259.98 before taxes and rebates - hence the pickle I find myself in.)

That one's been OOS for days at my MC. Thats the one everyone has been buying so missed it.

That's what I did, except I couldn't help myself and got i5-2400 and the cheapest Gigabyte z68 mATX board.(GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3).

The i3-2100 + GA-H61M-D2P-B3($35 or $25AR with $40 off promo) would have been plenty for my WHS.

I kinda expected that (I made a post about that in the other thread about this deal) a few folks would use the mobo discounts to trade up in CPU. The Frustration Factor is that *Friday* was the last day of the deal - I can only hope that MC takes pity on us and extends it through Father's Day itself (Sunday).

I almost bit on this deal with a I5-2500k but my local micro Center (tustin, orange county) didn't have any z68 motherboards.

Definitely a good deal. Glad I didn't get in on it because my X58 rig and s775 rig work fine. :)

Of course my motherboard died right after this deal ended, and right after I was at MC two days in a row to build my mom a computer.

dude, I'm in the exact same situation! building mom a computer. so i thought, I'll just give her my old one and get an i5 :)

did I miss the $40 coupon anywhere? I'm looking at the recent ad and it's only for AMD Mobo & chip combo

Technically it is over, however I just got back from there and they did the deal with an Asus Z68 Pro and 2500K. I ended up getting the board for $135.99 plus tax after the $40 off and the customer coupon. The CSR had to get manager approval, but it took like 2 seconds for that. The manager didn't even fight over it, just said do it. YMMV on this, but it is worth trying if they have a board you want and you need both it and the chip. Also, today is the last day for the $25 coupon.

Would be great if they make this the regular deal over there.

As the title sez - no such luck.

There are new i5-K bundle deals, though. Buy the I5-2500K @ $179.99 (SKU 200121)
and pay the following prices (after bundle savings, of course):

MSI H67MA-E35-B3 - $79.99 (SKU 292086)
ASUS P8P67R3 (ATX) - $139.99 (SKU 292456)
ASUS P8P67 Pro R3 (ATX) - $169.99 (SKU 292516)
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO (ATX) - $179.99 (SKU 484673)

These are all B&M-only/while supplies last or thru 3 July 2011 (whichever comes first).
