Google says its latest version of Chrome is "safer and snazzier." I'm not sure I really now how to gauge "snazziness" but I guess I will download the latest version and see which one is snazziest. And that folks fills our quota for the word "snazzy" for the rest of the week.

Chrome is now more secure, thanks to enhancements to our Safe Browsing technology. In addition to protecting you from certain malware and phishing websites, Chrome now warns you before downloading some types of malicious files. We’ve carefully designed this feature so that malicious content can be detected without Chrome or Google ever having to know about the URLs you visit or the files you download.

Chrome 13 is still the snazzierest right now. It will soon be outsnazzied by Chrome 14.

Today’s new stable release of Chrome brings improvements in security, privacy, and graphics to Chrome’s 160 million users.

Funny considering many people consider Google's own policies to go against the idea of privacy and security.

Google Chrome is probably the best browser I've used for myself. Firefox used to be good. Let's see how snazzy this is!

I've been using IE9 for the last couple months but maybe I'll check out Chrome's new version. I switch browsers all the time just for a change of scenery so a snazzier Chrome might be worth a look.

I usually browser hop too, tried a lot of the more popular ones. Chrome has been pretty good to me so far, lol.

I have to admit I'm really liking IE9. My main bitch was no spell checker but I found Speckie and it works great. IE9 also seems faster than the others. I'm sure that's due to my midrange 6MB DSL connection and that all websites are optimized or whatever for IE9.

There's a lot of different opinions on this. I have the latest versions of Chrome, FF and Opera installed and I find IE 9 just feels faster than the others with scrolling than the others and yes, Speckie is nice.

I installed Chrome 13 on my Netbook, alongside Internet Explorer 9....it was almost like I had installed a Turbo switch on my Internet connection. The difference between the two is simply amazing....Chrome is super fast and keeps on getting faster.

IE 9 is VERY GPU dependent for best results and IE 9 hardware acceleration doesn't on the bulk of netbooks, at least older ones.

Unfortunately for IE9 being GPU dependent, they haven't released a GPU that makes it palatable to use. It is still slow on good hardware compared to other browsers, which is rather unforgivable. It isn't a bad browser per-se, but it lacks what most of us look for.

Not sure what you're definition of good hardware is. On anything that supports GPU rendering, which includes Intel HD Graphics, not exactly good hardware, I've found IE 9 to run scroll better than Chrome, FF or Opera. And being a heavy Windows touch device user, IE 9 simply works better than those browsers in that department. I've not tried Chrome 13, it might be faster but I simply don't find any of the modern browsers to be significantly different in my browser usage in terms of performance.

Until Chrome reaches the same level of "protection" AdBlock provides on Firefox, no care. No matter how many times my Firefox crashes, I stick by it.

Core i7 950
GTX 460
12gb ram.
And STILL FF runs better. Loads pages better.Plus it has actual adblocking, java protection etc (with ad ons obviously).

Tried Chrome from the link today. Ew!! Ads! EVERYWHERE! Make it stop, I'll be good! *huddles in a corner sobbing quietly* I'll be good.....

I detect no snazz at all. I just wish Chrome would play better with Zimbra. Chrome, FF, and IE9 are all huge jumps from what we had not so long ago.

Looks like it is time to update from chrome 12.

A couple of comments without getting into a huge quote fest.

*Ie 9 feels faster*

Feels and is are different thing. That said, security/ad handling on IE are still crap. I keep most of my clients on IE8 as the few things they require IE for don't support 9 yet. That said, I strongly encourage all of them to use FF/Chrome unless they specifically are required to use IE.

*Adblock not being as good in chrome as FF*

This is a true statement. Even adblock plus in chrome does not block as much as it does in FF. Now for normal web browsing the adblock in chrome is fine. However if you are like me and watch a bunch of live streams and such, chrome simply does not handle video ads. As such I use FF when I am watching live streams since it blocks video ads.

So my take is this.
IE - Still IE. Use it when required but it frankly is still a crap browser that has terrible security.
Chrome - I generally prefer it for most web browsing.
Firefox - my choice for Video streaming.

I was under the impression that people only blocked ads due to the potential security implications.

I will assume that was sarcasm. :p

For me it boils down to getting to choose who I support and who I do not. For example, most of the streamers I watch ensure that their ads only play between matches and as such I make sure adblock is disabled on those sites. I try to support those I get content from so long as it isn't intrusive.

However there are a few that let the ads run whenever and typically that means in the middle of a big battle. There is nothing more irritating then to be watching a match, a huge fight start only to have a random ad come on and miss the entire thing. However that aside, FF blocks video ads, Chrome does not.

Don't know what "Snazzier" is but a Snazi (sneeze Nazi) are those people that wait for someone to sneeze and then yell "Don't you know how to use a tissue?!!??" Or "Cover your mouth, you are spreading your germs!!!"

Google track your ip anyways.

Buffer overflow that's how they open the calculator thru chrome in sandbox mode. Is it patched up? No
