The spokesman for Anonymous is leaving the group? I have a question, did anyone ever confirm that this guy was actually a legit spokesman for the group in the first place? Think about it.

"I'm tired of the drama," Brown told Threatpost in a phone interview May 10. "You've got kids fighting for control of an IRC channel. I'm a researcher. I'm into revolutionary stuff. But there are other people for whom its about exerting power," he said. Brown told Threatpost he is defecting with what he claims are around two dozen Anonymous members.

You seem to have quite an interest in Anonymous. Do you like or dislike them?

Who? Me?

I have a big interest in "tech news" ....you know, because that is what I do and the reason YOU are here. :D

Who really cares if I "like" someone or not? Does that change the news if I like them or not? No. Anonymous just happens to be in the news a lot, the same with Sony, Apple and Google right now. Doesn't mean I like or dislike any of them...they just happen to be in the news.

I think it is hard to like or dislike them myself. I like some of the causes they fight for. But on the other hand I don't like the fact they take away some of the hard working users ability to use the broken networks that we have paid to use. Sure Sony (and many more of their targets) should have had better security (or policies) for their users, and should not have done a lot of the things they have done. But the end result hurts both the company and the users. If I needed to use paypal for a business transaction and the site was down because of their (anonymous's) reasons it only would hurt my business, which is what I think they usually fight for (the small guys). It's like punishing the "victim" .

Although I don't know much about what they have done, so I could be way off.

I think he just wanted your opinion heh, a lot of people like your opinion, but I wouldn't answer that question either if I were you, no right answer to something like that.

As someone seen as one of the spokespeople for a tech site, that requires advertising... neither denying or confirming is the best yes, so Steve's answer was best.

As someone who is just a regular joe blo, like myself, I can openly say I like them ... I may not agree with there tactics at time, but at least it shows some people are willing to stand up to corporations that treat end-users like chattel, since our elected leaders are doing nothing to maintain our rights and privacy unless it helps them win another election.

So will a new guild be formed soon...Inconspicuous? Raiding all 25 mans Wed and Thurs night. Need tanks, PST BrownStain.

I think they should attack congressmen & senators so they are forced to change the laws.
They don't have the balls for it though, even though they've been evading FBI & CIA for some time.

Dems & Repubs all suck these days. Nobody actually represents the life, liberty & values that america was built on.

You report. We decide.

I like it.

Anonymous doesn't have, nore have ever had, a "spokesman". Its a collection of different IRC channels, different message boards, groups of friends, single users, and entire communities. Anonymous has never been centralized and therefore has never had a spokesman. All this guy is, is the "spokeman" for a single IRC channel of people going under that groups name.

Not real news, dudes an attention whore.

Steve's just aware that posts like the one LightningCrash made are often troll bait. It doesn't mean it necessarily is on the part of LightningCrash, but Steve is wise enough to realize it could be. It's best not get involved in that sort of thing because it only turns into a flame war that results in warnings about the locking the topic, recriminations and cries of censorship and bias, and all sorts of crap that usually go along with this sort of thing. Like Global Thermonuclear War (or tic-tac-toe), the only winning move is not to play.

That might be a hasty conclusion.

Will the front page continue to be about this broader scope in news?
