I just bought Medal of Honor a few days ago and just got a chance to start it now. This evening I replaced the nVidia drivers because of a PhysX issue, and now every time I play MoH (it's happened twice), I get a freeze. The gunshots start repeating rapidly and I lose control/feedback.

Any suggestions? Does Steam offer a way to reinstall a game?

I suggest a light shawl wrapped around your shoulders. And some hot coacoa.

I get this exact problem in BC2. Is this happening in MP or SP? As MP uses Frostbite (SP uses Unreal), this is a known Frostbite problem with onboard Realtek audio.

It's happening in single player for me. I've heard lots of things about changing the DirectX version, but I can't find the settings.ini file anywhere to actually change it. The game loads fine, and looks great, but then suddenly it goes crazy on me.

Is the shawl and cocoa my only option? :p I would hope that a game relatively recent would work on current hardware...

Maybe instead I should ask about where to change the DirectX settings for single player? From what I've discovered with more searching, it seems it really is a "$5 bargain bin material console port" (thanks AMD_Gamer). I would still like to make it work, but that might be more trouble than its worth.

Also worth noting that I posted here previously about HL2 freezing up mid game. Perhaps there's something up with my system?

Since you stated that specifically that you've had HL2 freezing up on you - I would strongly suspect that it's your system over anything else.

If I were you, I probably would scrub every drivers for every thing and update them all to the latest drivers - all of them, no exceptions.

Update your BIOS to the latest

Clean out your system - perhaps it's an overheating issue (who knows?)

Try these things and report back. Hopefully your issues will have gone away by then :)

I reinstalled MoH from a Steam backup, and inexplicably it now works; I've been able to play 2 or 3 full levels.

I'm guessing the reason was because I had reinstalled my nVIDIA graphics drivers after installing the game originally.

This. I had to fiddle with my audio and unplug my headphones to get BC2 to stop locking up last night.

Something is screwy with this game. I bought it off Steam's EA sale a couple days ago and when I Alt/Tab'd out of it last night I noticed all 3 cores of my CPU were at 100%. 95% was MOH according to task manager. Game seems to run fine tho so I'm not too terribly worried about it. Actually liking the game so I hope it runs fine. Bought a Phenom X6 yesterday from Newegg and its gonna be here Friday so I'll see if that changes anything.

I had diagnostics running on the second monitor last night (MoH doesn't black out a secondary display) and while the game was pushing my hardware, it wasn't by any means at the limit. GPU usage was really high, but that's to be expected at 1920x1200.

What I've managed to play so far has been really cool.

You need to get exposed to some better games, friend.

Any suggestions? I've just gotten started in the FPS genre, so my collection is limited to those available on Steam. I've played BF:BC2, CS:S, started HL2 but it broke, and a little bit of Black Ops.

Essentially I think I bought MoH to get in on the Battlefield 3 beta hahaha.

What do you expect for a $5 bargain bin material console port.

Have you played the game or own it? I would say that the single player is really well done to most the latest games. put BF:BC2 too shame in alot of ways the only two flaws with multiplayer I have is the skill system inless you on top of the board which can be hard when your with good players is you lose abought 36+ points and only win 10 points if you are on top. The game feels better looks better and the models are pretty much how they will look in bf3 makes you wounder why dice pushed out bc2 so quick. Once you know the maps and good at online the multiplayer can become some of the best online exerience.

The game can randomly crash with AA higher the 16 it seems

So Ive got my 1090 up and running at 3.6 for now and this game is running fine now. Only used 1 core really at high usage but not 100%. Maybe this game just didnt like my X3 but its working fine now.

I've been trying this MOH since the $15 sale happened and have played plenty of BC2, one of my current favorites, and I'd have to say I feel the exact opposite of how you do.

Are you and I playing the same MOH 2010? ;)

I like the game pretty good. Im a couple hours into it and flying around in the Apaches right now. Id say its as good as BC2, hopefully its a little longer. Definitely worth the $15 I spent for it.
