There are a bunch of Brink videos posted on the Bethesda blog today that are definitely worth checking out. The latest video (embedded below) covers the game's HUD. So, how many of you are picking this one up when it ships next week?

So...does anybody even play this game? My kid and i were think'n 'bout getting it but, we think we will be safer sticking with BFBC2. lol. How big is this game's community?

It's not out until next week. I'll definitely get it if it gets decent reviews. I need something new to play.

I pre-ordered it for PC when it was 25% off online. I enjoyed Quake Wars back in the day and besides a quick dalliance with Killzone 3, I haven't gotten seriously into an online fps since BFBC2. Hopefully Brink will tide me over until BF3 :D

I've got it preordered, and while I certainly don't think the game will "suck", I worry that it might flop.

It looks interesting to me but I'm not sold on it yet. Will wait to hear from folks in this forum before I buy and sort through the reviews.

the only thing i like about that video is the british chick narrator's voice.

everything else seems blegh

I like the fact it has a standalone server. I always enjoyed hosting HLDS servers, building communities and people around them, and making something fun and unique as part of the server.

I hope that aspect shines through for the game. I'll give it a week, see what first response results are, and maybe jump into the hosting fray for it.

Smart with the standalone servers, just reminds me of TF2 too much, going to wait for BF3.

It is an updated version of TF2. Not my thing but it should do ok.

More like an updated version of Quake Wars, which came out a week before TF2. I'm not sure how any game that has classes and isn't super realistic looking is immediately passed off as a TF2 clone.

Looks interesting but I have a feeling its a game that will get old fast. Certainly not a first day buy... maybe once it comes down in price.

Everything I've read about this game makes it sound cool, but all the gameplay videos I've seen look pretty generic to me. Kind of like a lot of FPS releases.

That was a very annoying video. What's good about this game? Looks like a very generic FPS to me. Something like a cross between Quake 3 Arena, Fallout 3, and Borderlands. Not the good qualities, just what I can visually see.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by these videos demoed on a console? I can't stand how the character turns and aims with a console stick for some reason.

This looks like TF2 with updated graphics. This game appears to takes itself way too seriously. TF2 is fun and cheeky.

That video basically states the obvious. Anyone who has spent more than a week playing FPS's would have very little trouble figuring out what the symbols on the HUD do. I was waiting for the person to say, "this is your gun. Observe that you use the gun to kill other members of the opposing team, which is one of the objectives of the game."

QW had vehicles.

This has, hacking, smallish maps, medics that have needles, heavies, etc. Just like tf2 imo. Different attitude sure but still more TF2 than QW.

Its still a Bethesda shooter. The shooting segments of fallout aren't amazing, and without the story, and the characters all look uninspiring. Going to wait for a demo/mod tools.

Pre-ordered with a bunch of folks for an upcoming LAN. Should be good. If you liked QW, you most likely will enjoy this :) Also happy about dedicated server option for sure. One of the main selling points for this game is the fact that the environments are supposedly more traversable (therefor gameplay could be more dynamic) due to the "SMART" button they've implemented. If you're interested, head to their official website and check out some of the videos of the "SMART" tech being used. Although there's still no real way to tell if it's a good or bad feature until you get your hands on the game yourself. **fingers crossed**

As a big fan of Quake Wars, I'm all over this! Looks great!

Incorrect. It's a Splash Damage shooter, Bethesda is just publishing it.

OMG I've been doing it all wrong! I've been shooting other members of my own team!
