Man Unknowingly Liveblogs Bin Laden Operation

At no point did I advocate the removal of all people that aren't like me. I said they're free to leave ... "Removal" and "free to leave" are two wholly different things.
Even if it were right, which it isn't, suggesting people are free to leave can only come from someone full of hate, not Christian love. Why don't you leave and found your own country and stop trolling this thread?

Dang, I didn't mean to kick the hornets nest...

Sprks, I just expected people to be familiar with our form of government. Dictionary.com, secular #2, "not pertaining to or connected to religion."

We are not, by definition, a Christian nation. We have no national church, no common faith. We are a secular constitutional republic. The Founding Fathers, some devout, some not so much, (see Thomas Paine) saw the evils that are possible when religion and government hold hands and intentionally built in a separation between the two.

Your attitude that atheists are "free to go" is bigoted and evil, and comparable to views against black people in the 1950s. "Back of the bus darky."

Please, read some more books about our government, the Founding Fathers and history. Hopefully you will be enlightened.

This right here. They were statesmen who went to church, not religious leaders who participated in government.

Again, the framework of this country, which still holds up today, had nothing to do with religion. This false notion has been perpetuated by the religious right for far too long. It's a wrong and uneducated opinion that's done nothing but skew people's perception of this country's history.

But to bring this thread back around, and sorta on topic..it's great that we can have these kinds of discussions; if we were in a Bin Laden ruled world (or Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalinist, etc) we'd be hanged.

And now that I'm thinking about it, what I really wish had happened though was taking him alive. I'd of loved for him to have a trial and expose him for the criminal that he was for the world to see, it's a shame that we only get to hear about what happened by news snippets here and there such as this one, I'd love to hear his motivation directly from him, see if he really was just apeshit nuts or at the very least believed the rhetoric he was spreading...

there were too many assassinations and attempted assassinations and terrorist events going on when Saddam was held captive. I would imagine it would be much worse for the people tasked to guard and defend Osama.

How do you know he isn't alive: in the USA's possession, being interrogated, being fed maggots, having sluts rubbed all over him, being force fed pork, etc, etc??

WARNING: This is how conspiracy theory's get started. Area 51, 911, etc.

This is why I want the picture of the double tap to the face released. Yeah, jerks will still say it was fabricated or that it was taken 4 years ago or whatever...but, as usual, they'll have no evidence to back up their claims.

I also want the video released of his body going into the Adriatic....but I hope we still have the body, and have a hunch we do.

Great reply! :)

The belief in God was widely accepted during that time and now, is not until recently that people are becoming more Atheist. I've met more Atheist people in the last four months than in the last 10 years. Now, I don't frequently meet non-believers but there's always a shift in thinking every few decades, it comes with the generational change. Now, things that are added should be kept, clearly the Masons of today accepted the "In God We Trust" on the money, otherwise they wouldn't have done it. It's there, apart of American history, and there's no reason to erase history now.

What if the Freemason imagery was in debate to be erased, will people have the same or more passion on the topic than God being removed? The belief in God has played a major roll in American History, so many Presidents have said it over the years and I don't understand why people find it offensive now. Do people feel oppressed by the belief of God or it's just that persons state of mind, I think it's the latter.

I find the belief in God or Gods, or whatever other beliefs you may find true, in no way offensive. Christianity, as well as every other religion we know, has brought about a lot of good things. Churches, charities, hospitals, you name it.

I just don't think the federal government has any right to promote any exclusive type of faith, in this case: monotheism. I have no problem with a President citing God in his/her speeches, they have every right to their religion and way of life. But the line needs to be drawn when a governmental body, either as a whole or in part, gives the nod to a particular set of beliefs over another. At the individual level, no restrictions should be put in place for practicing free religion.

In Freemasonry, religion, especially of the organized sort, is never discussed unless outside of masonic meetings. People are judged by their actions, rather than by their upbringing. However, that is not to say Freemasons are athiest egalitarians. On the contrary, one of the prerequisites for joining is to believe in a power greater than yourself. That can mean God, the collective human spirit, etc.

Eh, I'm not an athiest, I just don't like this idea some people have that basically says Christianity is the only reason this country is great. It is only one of the many reasons.

I'm very sure the USA has plenty of picture evidence of everything. Especially since I'm sure the Seals involved were required to wear camera gear during this procedure. We also have "blood evidence". Eh, oh well, whatever evidence we have some will leak over time with or without the governments approval. I'm just glad the bastard is dead, now onto #2 on the list. ;)

Oh no doubt. There's more than likely multiple videos of the entire operation from helicopter, operator, and CIA agent cameras, not to mention photographs. I'd love to see the operational videos, but that'll never happen lol.

Here here. Can't let up in Afghanistan and we need to step up the pressure on the Pakistani's.

In before thread degenerates into Religious and political bullshit flaming. ....aw crap.

Ninja's can't photographed.

That's funny, the pictures in the news come from a different building than the one I first found online.
Google Earth coordinates are 34 10' 09.49" N 73 14' 33.53" E, it's SW of the military academy instead of NW. Still no swimming pool though.

Innocent enough, I guess. But, he could have potentially ruined the whole operation depending on who say his tweets.

By the time they could hear helicopters hovering above, Osama and his guys would have been alerted anyway

Haha, the compound is the one from the second set of coordinates when MSNBC shows it, but from the first set when they locate it comparatively to the Kakul military academy. Something's fishy...

As well as bad things. Starting crusades, inquisition, fight against scientist and ending with child abuse in last years.

Anyway, you missed the point. There are only few countries based on religion on this world, USA is not one of them. For a good example of country based on religion you don't need to look further than at one country of "axis of evil" - yes, i talk about Iran.

And to those who think the guy should know who his neighbor is - do you know the name of the guy living 3rd house north, 2nd to west from your house in case you are living in city larger than 10k people ? Most would say no. Hell, i don't know the people living in the 8-floor house i'm living in.

Glad they shot him. If he had gone to trial the extremists would have made him into more of a martyr than what he is now to them.

I thought so too! especially when they said that they are only 99.9% sure that it's him (via DNA)! thats like 0.01% chance of it not being him, and thats much much greater than the chances of winning the lottery. Which someone does EVERY WEEK

Hes not dead, but now that most of the public thinks so he just got a free pass. Obama seems to be very good at deflecting any negative media. Many Americans will accredit the killing of OBL to him, and his "wonderful administration", and he will in turn have better turn out at the polls.
Just my $0.2. I could be way off but it was pretty ridiculous they dumped the only evidence into the ocean, DNA test's are just a result on paper, and paper can be manipulated to say anything anyone wants.

He can't even organize a stag party out of a cave nevermind a terror campaign. Who are they going to blame now when they want to bomb their own country again?

I think you may not have read the post.

+1 on this. We all have belief systems, but this one should be at the core. As far as Bin Laden is concern, I feel relief and a sense of closure. Saw this on FB yesterday and thought it was apropos:

Brother Ali
When all people in my country are able to live with dignity and others don't suffer to ensure our luxuries, then I'll paint my face and celebrate with you. Until then, I'm smiling through tears.

From the Economist:

Local residents say that police regularly swept the area, roughly once a week, checking residents' IDs and sometimes looking inside homes. It is hard to believe that this house could have escaped scrutiny for long. Most embarrassing for Pakistan's most powerful man, General Ashfaq Kayani, the chief of staff, is that he was just across the field from number 25 just last week, boasting at the military academy that Pakistan had broken the back of terrorism. At the time Mr bin Laden was within shouting distance of the general. That looks increasingly difficult to explain.”
(Emphasis mine)

Yeah, so the house was conspiciously larger than other homes in the area and the neighborhood underwent regular police sweeps that even went inside homes. Yet no one knew who was there. Mmhmm, ok.

Might've been a spider hole under a rug or something heavy similar to how Saddam tried to hide when the town he was hiding in was being swept. Jews have been doing this during World War II in Nazi occupied Europe.

Eh, there is rampant corruption in that country. $$$ is what kept him from being reported. Pretty simple in essence. Brilliant hiding spot in many ways.

I was being sarcastic with that "fishy" comment. There cannot be any conspiracy theory on this one, we need to trust Obama for once! ^-^
To those who require proof and say DNA analyses are just manipulated paper, I ask how convenient it would be to let 7 billions people poke the body and take blood samples for analysis. Besides, the body could have been surgically modified to look like Bin Laden, and fake blood with the correct family DNA could have been injected. As much as I usually don't trust official statements until confirmed by another source, there's really no end to these conspiracy theories if you let them take over.

I think the reason for the 2 totally different coordinates is just that TVs jumped on the first set of coordinates published on the web. The building does look like a fortified compound too, and the satellite pictures of the actual building were made available only the next day. Until then, they had only a meager description of the building, like the height of the walls, to go by.

It took me less than one minute on Google Earth to find the actual coordinates, the satellite pictures make it easy as the surroundings of the building on the pictures show a very specific pattern. I only had to zoom out a bit and zoomed in on the right building at second try. Still, if just an individual can do it, it makes the TV studios look bad when they keep propagating the wrong information. It's even worse that, when they eventually received the satellite pictures, they didn't even think of zooming on the previous set of coordinates, they would have seen immediately that these 2 compounds and buildings are totally different. On the same news bulletin, they show these 2 different locations. This second check took me only a few seconds, even if the Google Earth maps are rather old compared to the satellite pictures.

10 years. Trillions of dollars. Thousands of soldiers dead. State of the art technology. The US finally found Bin Laden.

In his house.
