And you thought you had crappy neighbors, I think this guy has you beat.

With his tweets, 33-year-old Sohaib Athar, who moved to the sleepy town of Abbottabad to escape the big city, became in his own words "the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it."

Osama Bin Laden, MY NEIGHBOR? But they were always so quiet, never bothered anyone...

Hard to believe nobody in the entire town didn't see him move in with all of his henchmen and weapons and all. But I guess I wouldn't be any wiser if Osama moved into my town of Chesterton, Indiana. Next door, maybe, but outside of mu subdivision? Definitely no.

Yeah, cuz no one in Pakistan knew he was there... Suuuuure.... Tell me again why we don't obliterate all countries that end in -stan?

Innocent enough, I guess. But, he could have potentially ruined the whole operation depending on who say his tweets.

@Azhar: And why do you think he ever left the building ?

Did you mean never? What makes you think he never left it? Intelligence reports suggest he moves around a great deal. For all we know, this might be a place he calls home or a place of solitude or whatever, and that may be why intelligence was quicker getting there - that they might have gotten a hold of his schedule or something. Who knows?

Because all the countries not ending in -merica would condemn the united states and it would be alienated from the rest of the world. I'm not saying I support either side but that is the reason why...

I certainly don't believe for 2 freaking milliseconds people weren't aware that osama bin laden lived there though. If a movie star moved in next to your house, you'd know it and thats just a movie star, this guy is known globally... Movie stars often want their privacy and will go to great lengths to get it, and everyone always knows where they live - how could they not realize where Osama was?

And now that I'm thinking about it, what I really wish had happened though was taking him alive. I'd of loved for him to have a trial and expose him for the criminal that he was for the world to see, it's a shame that we only get to hear about what happened by news snippets here and there such as this one, I'd love to hear his motivation directly from him, see if he really was just apeshit nuts or at the very least believed the rhetoric he was spreading...

You guys are expecting Osama to come out of the house and water the garden every afternoon

there were too many assassinations and attempted assassinations and terrorist events going on when Saddam was held captive. I would imagine it would be much worse for the people tasked to guard and defend Osama.

Let's start with Canuckistan. They have all that shale oil...

How about we rather encourage the middle east to continue the progress towards individual rights and liberties that started in Tunisia this spring? How about we stop supporting the theocracies, monarchies and dictators for life, and instead push for liberty, democracy and (dare I say it?) constitutional secular republics?

Here's the Google Earth coordinates, if someone is interested: 34 11' 15.82" N 73 14' 33.20" E
The loser lived in Pakistan for 10 years without a swimming pool!

LOL is it sad that I tried to use street view? I would of fucking shit my pants if google actually had a street view lol

10 years... trillions of dollars, one man .... good going on stirring up the hornets nest, oh but I guess american news is looking over all the eulogies pouring in for bin laden, and saying the americans will pay for the death of the lion of god. And I still find it fishy they already ditched the body, islamic law my ass... since when did they care about islamic law in the past, doubley so when it is dealing with america's #1 target.

They report he lived in the biggest house in the town. not really hard to find him i suppose. I'm kinda upset that it took over a year for us to take him out for they also reported we knew where he was in that same house for over a year.

I said about the same on my FB page. They've been looking for this guy for HOW long? Just going to give him a burial at sea.

/queue Capt. Kirk.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

Don't muslims with pieces missing not go to heaven? So they just want to cover the fact they cut him into fish bait and feed him to the fishes. :)

Fox News called. They're looking for a sensationalist writer.

The war wasn't JUST to hunt OBL. Our government has always respected Islamic laws of other countries, even when they don't always agree with it, as long as it doesn't violate human rights. American citizens on the other hand treat Islam like parasites.

I kind of disagree about stirring the hornet's nest. The first thing I thought of when we got him was "wow, the jihad fighters are going to go apeshit when they find out their beloved God-fearing leader was giving out orders in the comfort of his Lazy Boy sipping margarita and watching SNL instead of actually being out there and fighting for the glory of God he keeps going on about".

I'm sure he had a mile-long convoy of armored trucks and bodyguards hoisting a giant Bin Laden flag wherever he went.

All that would achieve is incite more terrorist attacks against America and piss off the rest of the world.

I'm well aware of that, thank you. There's more than one way to spot suspicious activities in your neighborhood that doesn't involve watching out for convoys.

Agree with you until your last three words. (And you dared...) "constitutional secular republics". Way to leave zero modicum of respect and/or noting any separation/protection for any religious beliefs.

Much to the chagrin of some of the idiots here in America, religion definitely has a shared (albeit limited) place of influence in policy. Both here, and in any country abroad. The qualifier being that you cannot/should not deny beliefs upon which a country is founded.
It's extremists that need to be curtailed/monitored. Both in religion as well as government.

Whether *you* like it or not, whether you were born here or moved here, you agree to adhere to, or at the very least recognize, the principles on which our government was founded. IMO the single greatest benefit of the ideology of having varied sovereign (democratic) countries is that you have the freedom to leave if you do not agree. I believe we need a lot more people to exercise that right.

One nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for ALL.

If you don't like the "under God" part, then get the fuck out, or shut up. Find yourself a nice agnostic, atheistic, or otherwise God-less society and make yourself at home. Or at the very least, hold true to your beliefs in action, and stop using our American currency which states what our country still stands for: "In God We Trust".

I would of agreed they'll be more pissed about that, if it wasn't for all the eulogies pouring in, calling him a martyr, the lion of god, a true warrior, and calling for american blood to flow.. and for tears of american men and women to be heard. The man is more dangerous dead, then he was alive.

I wouldn't be surprised if they knew he was there long before this. Probably better to be able to keep tabs on him then to not have him around for info. Could have been that he was removed enough from the decision making w/ Al Qaeda that it wasn't worth it to monitor him anymore.

No fucking way. You're in Cheesetown? I'm in Valpo, lived in Chesterson for a year or two when I was in school. Small world.

Nah...they're not smart enough to think for themselves in the first place. That's why they so easily succumb to a charismatic leader -rather than a person of 'true' moral character and ideals. ;)

They're simply "I'm mad, I'm mad -let's hurt people." (reminds me of the mentality of beavis and butthead.)

I don't know what amuses me more: someone who forgets that America was founded on religious rights INCLUDING the right not to believe, or someone who likes to recite the Pledge which was written by a national/Christian socialist Baptist minister in 1892. Our founding fathers didn't tell us we had to recite or obey the Pledge to be a citizen.

I was hoping they'd turn Osama into a White House lawn ornament or something. But I guess shark bait works too... :p
