Sell my HD6950's and get 2 GTX570's?

Guys,

I need some opinions. Should I sell my 2 (1 month old) 6950s on eBay and get two GTX570's? I don't want to have to worry about my microstuttering issues anymore (see Intel board for thread if you're wondering).

I can probably recoup most of my money by selling them, but I'm not sure if I would get much performance gain using SLI 570's over XFire 6950 (w/shader unlock).

What do you guys think?
 
If your that sensitive to microstuttering you need to probably stop using dual card configurations completely. Get a single 3GB GTX 580 and be done with it for now until a more powerful single GPU comes out.

Microstuttering happens on ALL dual GPU configurations on only some games and those games are usually coded from the beginning without dual gpu in mind. drivers and caps can fix the issue a bit but the fact is some people are more sensative to others. I don't notice microstutter and can enjoy my dual 6950s but it seems that others can't seem to get past it. I 'have read that it happens slightly more on AMD than on nvidia but neither will be as smooth as a single gpu powerhouse despite the frame rate.
 
If microstutterig is the reason you want to make the change then don't do it. Microstuttering is a byproduct of AFR. AFR is the most commonly used rendering method with both Crossfire and SLi so switching from Crossfire to SLi would resolve nothing.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll just stick with my 6950's then as it won't be worth the hastle/cost.

Are you sure that microstutter is your problem? Currently I have the same GPU setup as you two 6950's in crossfire. I am running a 2500K CPU.

I am very sensitive to microstutter and I noticed a huge improvement in gaming when I switched from my old 4870x2 to a single 6950 in december. I got a second 6950 at xmas as a present and was going to sell it, but said I would try it out, and I still have it. There is barely any microstutter at all.

I think your problem is elsewhere, isn't there an issue with stutter on the C300 drives? I am sure I read that somewhere. So I don't think you will notice any improvement going to to two 570's.

EDIT:- I just read your thread in the mobo section, looks like a few people think it's the C300 as well.

Hey Reaper,

Thanks for the reply. Are your 6950's overclocked at all? I've noticed if I leave the GPU speed stock with the shaders unlocked that the microstutter doesn't happen.

I've updated my C300 firmware and I'm running the RST Beta from Intel. I'm going to try some other settings later today.
 
I have had them unlocked and overclocked. Currently running them at stock as they run every game prefectly fine.

I wonder do you have to reinstall windows after upgrading the firmware?
