P8P67 Deluxe freezes

@hmz: Can you list which fixes you were using when it froze (see post 16, anything to add?)

@makotech: Try using the AI auto overclock on the 'fast' setting (not extreme), worked for me with no other adjustments (but you do need a better heat sink). No freezes for several weeks now.

I tried all methods, but they don't work though. What I noticed is that with the latest BIOS version the freeze occurs less often, every 7-10 days, but used to freeze every few days.

Yeah i used the fast setting yesterday, and it OCed to 4.2ghz, below my manual 4.4ghz. I upped it manually again, adjusting nothing else, and it hasn't frozen yet. :)

1503 did seem to increase the number of freezes though.

Wow i've been freezing a lot lately after installing the new RST drivers from april 20. I just tried disabling LPM and i will test it with some games. I think this is a HDD problem, not a ram problem.

Okay definitely figured out a fix... i think.

I installed the new intel drivers and they were causing even more problems. So i uninstalled them, then restarted, and let windows install the microsoft drivers for my HDDs. I restarted from there, then i played shogun for 2 hours and no freezes. In comparison, with the newest intel drivers, i was getting freezes every 10 minutes.

Try reinstalling the Intel RST driver 10 without you optical drive (Pioneer?), It is known to cause problems with some ODD.

This method has definitely worked for me. Played more shogun 2 today, and never once got a freeze. I say give it a try and forget about intel's buggy drivers.

For what its worth, my P8P67 Deluxe is freezing too. It happens randomly about once every 2 days. Usually the system is idle or I am just browsing the web.

When it happens, the screen and mouse freezes. I have to power cycle to recover. Usually, the red CPU LED on the MB is lit, and usually the code is 19.

I am using 2x4GB Corsair XMS3 memory. Nothing is overclocked, and all Bios settings are at default. (I just built this PC a few weeks ago). It has Win7 Pro with SP1. Bios is 1502. I have the Marvell driver installed, but currently nothing in the dark blue slots.

I haven't really done anything to debug it yet. But I do see this issue in threads all over the place. The only thing that seems common among them is having 2x4GB memory sticks.

Yeah, same issue. I am getting this since I bought this rig in Jan..

So, yesterday I got into the BIOS and found the memory setting was "AUTO", not XMP. Others have said that works. So I set it to XMP and used the default profile. Also I enabled "VRM Spread Spectrum" which is supposed to help stability.

Originally the voltage on the memory was 1.5V. Enabling XMP changed it to 1.65V.

Also in the EZ Mode, I set the tuning to Performance. This upped the BCLK from 100 to 103 MHz, and upped the CPU voltage from 1.165 to 1.195V.

So far, things are stable but it will take a couple of days to be sure. If I don't report back, it worked!

Try enabling hot swap on all intel sata ports in the bios and disabling intel rst power saving features via the crucial forum tweak.

This fixed the issue for me and i still get to use intel rst drivers. :D

Not to mention enabling hot swap made my SSD feel much quicker.

Link to the tweak?

Hi All,

Is the any resolution to this? I'm having the same problems. Everything is stock clocked and the machine randomly locks up when not in use.

I have 8 GB of Gskill f3-16000cl9-2gbtd
2x raided intel 160-x25 SSD's
5870 Sapphire
Ultra 120 Extreme cooler bunch of fans and 2 1TB hd's (wd balck and Seagate)

All components except for the MOBO and CPU where running my last I5 system perfectly for at least the last year.

The only recent change is raiding the intel 160 when I got this new machine together....

This is so strange. I knew I should have bought gigabyte again.... I hate asus and this is the reason... Just like Abit motherboards.

Thought I'd report back. This fix worked, no freezes in the last 2 weeks - rock stable. Setting the memory to XMP solved it for me.

Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for sharing your tips.

Because of them my pc stopped locking up at random moments, and now I can game for many hours in a row.

Cheers!

seems to have worked for me as well, knock on wood. was averaging a freeze every 4 dyas or so and since the switch have not had a hang in 16 + days.

I'm still freezing.

replaced the PSU with a thermaltake 850 watt no change... Replaced the HD's no change.

It's either Ram or the board, 30000 bios updates later still not stable but MORE stable...

Lets face it Asus put out one piece of shit board.

Try giving more voltage to the RAM or increase CPU voltage by turning LLC up, or setting offset +0.005 increments.

Thank you big time for this! I kept getting BSODs - and now with this XMP change in BIOS due to my Corsair 1600 memory, OCCT has run for almost 4 hours now without crashing (the first time for this).

I was getting through Prime95 okay and memtest86+ too - but not OCCT nor playing Skyrim. So far so good. Will post an update afterwards. I have not changed the setting for VRM Spread Spectrum at this point.

Is there another stress tester someone can recommend?

Thanks again!
