Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun Noodle 20-Pack $12

Ugh, seriously guys, eating this shit will only give you diabetes from the massive influx of nutrition-less carbs and sodium. Avoid at all costs and eat real fucking food.

These posts are literally one step removed from having "gamer fuel" food threads. Ugh.

So wait... someone makes a thread about a hard drive, or a computer case, and then someone comes in complaining about the item. 9000 people jump up that person's ass. If it's about a bowl of noodles though, you better watch out OP.

Also above: diabetes, how do they work.

I never understood why people go nuts over these.
Because they taste like a million times better than cheap ramen. The ginger beef flavor is my favorite.

Walmart sells these 20 packs for around the same price anyways. Plus sometimes the Nong Shim bowls there are only $0.75 each so you can mix and match and get it in a more convenient form.

Yeah, korean people have a huge problem with diabetes....

no one is telling you to eat them all the time. They are kinda more lazy food or emergency food when you don't have time to make something real. Most asian cooking tend to have high sodium anyway. Eat more bananas lol.

I don't know if the code works anymore but a couple weeks ago we had a 10% coupon code for Nong Shim.... noodle88

Just don't drink the water afterwards and you reduce your carb intake by like half.

There isn't carbohydrates in the broth...You will reduce the sodium intake and also the oils (palm and other saturated fats).

Back on topic, if anyone likes instant noodles, these are amazing. Super spicy, i make it with about half the seasoning and it makes my nose run.

and you can easily change the nutritional content by adding fresh vegetables, meat, and egg, to your desired tastes and health needs. Boil (or otherwise pre-cook) them until 3 min left then add the noodles and seasoning (the packet, your own blend, or a combination) and remove from heat when noodles are 3/4 cooked. They will finish cooking in the bowl as you prepare to eat them (takes 2-3 min).

I cook healthy food from scratch all the time but I also cook ramen noodles (my own custom ways of course, never as on the package). It's not like you have to choose one or the other...

so eating mcdonalds is sooooo much healthier amirite?

These are pretty good. They are the only super spicy things I'll eat but seriously you'll need tissues to go along with these. And a lot of water

I wonder if this is cheaper than they are in my local Asian supermarket here. I usually buy them in singles at about $0.79 to $1.75 per pack.

I love this stuff, it's better than Cup o'Noodles and Ramen. Plus, cut some vegetables and cooked sliced meat and add them to the soup. It's a great cheap and easy dinner.

That's too much work for instant noodles. Want an easy way. Buy your ramen, buy one of those steamer vegetable packs. I go with one with baby corn, water chestnuts, etc. Boil it all together, throw in the seasoning, then when done. Put it in a bowl. After that, crack a raw egg on it.

When by itself, I only use half the seasoning pack and save the rest for a pack of Japanese udon. Udon noodles have crap seasoning packs, so I use the nice picante ones from the Korean ramen. The Korean udon noodle packs aren't udon. It's just thicker ramen.

I was expecting a lot more from these noodles with all the talk about them in this thread...or simply based on the fact that there was a deal thread about this ramen in the first place. But I gotta say I wasn't really too impressed with it; I was hoping I'd feel a performance boost like going from an 8800GT to a GTX580 from my existing maruchan but instead it felt like going from a GTX 275 to a GTX 460.

The noodle quality is much better but it's a shame the spice mixture is just like maruchan, nissin, and every other ramen producer. It lacks a lot of broth flavor and instead just tastes like a cheap bouillon cube(aka loaded with sodium). You'd think they could dehydrate a decent broth instead of just giving you a packet of sodium. It is a real shame because the noodles do taste really good compared to the cheaper bricked up noodles, but yet the spice tastes pretty much the same or maybe even higher in sodium than your average Maruchan blend. I'm not trying to be overly critical, but I feel my expectations were a bit too high with all the praise and lack of criticism(a side from people who feel so inclined to mention that ramen isn't health food.) Still I'm glad I got to try these, and I'm sure the noodles will go great with some of the homemade broth recipies I've been playing around with.

I always have that horrid, chemically aftertaste when i eat any kind of instant noodle...

That said, the real ramen is BOMB.

Except that the ramen at most of those ramen joints is instant. The broth isn't, but the noodles themselves are. Very few places make their own ramen. Unless you happen to live in like...China, Japan, Korea, or something.

For me, they are pretty alright ramen. I prefer these though.

I'm more of an udon fan, but pretty much all the udon you found out there has horrible flavor. The noodles are fine, but the broth is just horrible. I end up saving a little seasoning from the Hot & Spicy to mix in with the udon.

I purchased a box of those, and I found out the hard way there is a strong seafood taste in there. I had to take out a bunch of the dry pieces from it and then make the noodles. The broth is good though.

Yes. That's why he said:

FWIW I don't eat ramen often (only when I'm sick, to clear out the sinuses... Because let's face it, in their stock form they're absolutely nutritionally devoid, and adding other nutritional items, like eggs and vegetables, are a bandage fix at best) but these are fucking excellent compared to the usual ramen shit.

Yeah what the heck are those little coin sides bits of oddly flavored seafood in these things...

Oh yah. Guess if you don't like seafood, you won't like them. Probably wouldn't like half the instant udon out there either.

They are strange, indeed. I took one out and took a bite (daring, I know) and it tasted like pure seafood extract. I'm sure it wouldn't be such a turn off to seafood eaters, but it was awful. I am not a seafood eater by any means.

They almost look like dry sliced ice cream, lol. All swirly and shit...

Probably not, I was giving a heads up to the non seafood eaters out there. If you don't like seafood, don't be fooled by Hot and Spicy Nong Shim it comes in a blue and greenish package. It's definitely seafood. Edible if you take out the dried bits that add the flavor though.

in for more. First one from end of Feb almost gone. I like this stuff
