Woman Knocks Entire Country Off The Internet

Southwest Airlines should make a "Wanna Get Away?" commercial featuring her. :D

Is it just me or does it seem cheap for the internet connection of an entire country to be transmitted through one single cable?

The woman is apparently going to face three years in prison for this, where she will likely die.

Firstly she faces "UP TO" 3 years in prison, that does not mean that what she will recieve if convicted, and if their sentences are anything like ours then even 3 years means 1 at most.

As for the single cable, remember that this is Armenia we are talking about which is only about the size of NYC and and only has about 40% of the population of it as well.

Also remember that there have been several cable breaks in the US that have knocked far more people off the net and/or disrupted phones and other communications, and over a much larger area then this little country.

Nop, but being old, unemployed and desperate for money (and probably food) might be a mitigating circumstance.

So if someone's desperate for money, or food, it's okay if they come over and cut all the copper out of your house and/or property?

I was ready to rage and not give a shit about her just because she's old, after all the copper thieves around here often do so because they need to (need money, need drugs, etc), but then I realized Georgia country not state, and rules might be different over there as to what is acceptable. Still it's pretty selfish, oh hey no one is going to use that... it's "scrap" copper... that's why nothing fucking works "why don't we have power?" "I dunno.... maybe some old lady cut through it"

But "accidentally" cut through it? More like she thought it was copper, so cut through it... the only accident was that it wasn't copper.

Its amazing to me not just how many people don't RTFA but don't even bother to read the ONE sentence long summary.

Its Armenia that lost internet not Georgia.

Meh i hope they throw her ass in jail... these Russian people are all insidious rats...the other day this old Russian lady cuts me on the line getting on the bus which was close to 1/2 a city block long..i asked her what the hell she thought she was doing...she has a stupid look on her face like its the line to the market to buy the last loaf of bread

Funniest thing I've read this week. Well, on the positive side, I guess if she does go to jail, at least she will get fed once a day.

Huzzah! Someone knows what country Armenia is :).

Its where Borat is from...

Fail. Borat is from Kazakhstan. His partner in trying to score Pamela Anderson (whose name I forgot) is from Armenia. In Borat, it doesn't even make sense, Borat is cussing at the Armenian dude in Kazakh and the Armenian dude is cussing at him in Armenian, they don't even speak the same language.

Is it just me, or am I the only one who finds it sad that a 75 year old lady is staying alive by searching for scrap metal?

darn, my cable company's cables are right in my front lawn and my cables come from there or else i would have cut it too since they decided not to pay me for keeping it in my front porch.

Not quite, when Cohen is doing his Borat character he speaks in a mix of Hebrew, Yiddish and Polish in a Russian-esque accent, which comes out as vague foreign sounding gibberish even to people who speak those languages
