Heres the pinout for the similar PS2 controller. Theres 5vdc and a ground. (its similar)

You could buy the converter (its about $5) then integrate the converter into the controller if theres space.

THe PS/2 provides separate power, ground, clock, and data lines. Data is a single line.
USB also has power and ground, but uses two data lines, self-clocked, with differential signaling. Power can draw up to 500 mA.

The low-level wire protocols are between USB and PS/2 are different. USB is a very general design, and includes capabilities for power and speed negotiation, device identification, flow control, etc. PS/2 is more specifically designed for keyboards, with mice as an extension. You might be able to rewire up some PS/2 mouse and keyboards that can be used on USB provided that your computer has USB Legacy support turn on.

PS1 and PS2 in this case means Playstation 1 and 2, NOT the PS/2 connector.

the ps3 controller can be a PITA to setup for different games.

OP, if you want a good controller to use on the PC, go with a 360 controller (if you go wireless, you'll need the IR dongle too). Almost every modern game that supports a controller will work OOTB with a 360 pad (including the proper button icons and such). Not only are the easy to setup and use, but they're also built well

yeah i got mine from Ebay for $1.20 with shipping and its a two port, Works great..

I bought a USB NES 8 bit controller from "retrozone". Just checked and am surprised them don't make a PS1 version.
