Quick & easy HTPC

It does have that industrial-ish look tho.... as oppossed to lian-li

I'd like to see how it looks next to an HDTV and receiver

Kudos for the new build

HOws the power button? It looks kind of plasticy cheap fromt he picture.

It is, and I am not sure if it was intentional, but it flows blue with the system off and turns off when you power the system on.

 - mine is the opposite (off w/ the system off and on when you boot)

Mines the same as Machupo's.

I had the dvd screws set in the wrong holes too bastage, that's why it wasn't all the way to the front. But it does sit crooked and off the the right to far so I guess I will have to grind the holes a little.

You should be able to loosen the screws on top and adjust that. I Did.

It won't shift sideways enough to straighten out.

Not talking about shifting it.. Those are all slotted on the top so as long as your not maxed out front or back you can move one side forward or back to adjust.

So much for the quick & easy part of this build. Cant even reinstall windows. Wont boot from CD Rom & cant get the the bios now. When I Try I get the mouse cursor in the middle of a black screen. With or without even having a mouse attached. Definitly regretting buying an asrock at this point.

oh.... dear. I remember trying to install win7 on an ASRock G31 board. I guess the only thing I can say is reset the BIOS and use it's default settings... then tweak after install and pray it still works.

Didnt work.. Cant even get into the bios. I can still boot to windows just fine with no HDMI audio, But screwed beyond that. I am looking at a replacement setup now.

Holy fawk shit.. So you learn something new every day. For years (since my 1st 486) I have never paid much attention to which way the front panel connectors go on. It just never made a difference. Well I flipped them around so that the light wasn't on with the system off & what do you know. Straight into the bios. Saved settings & then it booted to windows. So I Figured I would try to install the CCC before I reinstall OS to try with a clean slate & what do you know. The HDMI audio driver shows up. Its now running just fine. Loaded & watched about 5 minutes of LOTR on netflix which looked great. Running windows update now. So that will probably screw something up. Otherwise this build just went back to being quick & easy.

It's adjusted as close as I can get it. I messed with it for an hour last night. Aside from enlarging the top slots, it's as good as it gets.

So, how are your temps?

I haven't used an actual temp monitor yet. Just the feel of the case and the fan noise. Its not getting warm to the touch and the chou fan has not ramped up at all.

Nice build.

Have you added any form of wireless as the Asrock does not have one integrated?

Also, where did you obtain the slim SATA adapter?

TIA

No wireless, and the adapter came from newegg. I linked it in genhard the other day.
