New Lian Li PC-V354 m.atx case : Specification & Feature

Yes, I did exactly what you did with the DVD burner. I took out the case's front plate; the drive's front is black too, looking perfect.

What do you have for a CPU cooler?

Standard Intel HSF that came with the CPU.

I have no plans on overclocking yet, but i have set the memory to XMP.

Hey guys this is my first post. After scouring the internet about how to cram stuff in this case, I decided this thread has the most information. I am thinking of getting this case but still looking for more information. My two questions are, will this case able to have enough room for a Zalman 9900 MAX? and what orientation might it be applicable to? (East-West or North-South).Also I took the time to render the heatsink and case to scale as much as possible.

I very much doubt it, as your photoshop doesnt include the motherboard standoff's, the motherboard itself and the fitting on the motherboard, would be a great choice if it would fit however :)

does anyone know where else online i can order this case? newegg is currently out of stock and i need to buy this in order to complete my build.

I'm also waiting for this case.. I did find it at PerformancePcs.. but they want 23$ or so for shipping which pushes the case to $185ish. I can wait the two weeks before newegg plans to have it back in stock.

yeah, they have shipping at 19 bucks for me and i don't think it's worth it.

Hmmm, Aren't AMD sockets much higher up in the motherboard than Intel sockets? I was also considering the flexing of the motherboard because of the weight of the heatsink. Notice how the top left corner screw insert of the power supply mount, im hoping the casing ends right there. The height of the Zalman is 152mm, maybe because it is a circle instead of a square it might not take as much real estate.

you mean the pinkish version... I have the "red" q11 & its definitly kinda pinkish..

ah. definitely not interested then. it looks pretty red on all the online stores but if it has a pinkish tint then that sucks.

Meh.. It doesn't bother me too much.. But it was kind of a surprise..

What about their silver ones? On every page, including Lian-Li's website, that I see around the net their silver looks more white than silver. I'm going for their black case when I buy it just to be sure I get what I want.

Being brushed aluminum, the silver cases probably reflect a lot of light in studio lighting, which might explain why the silver cases almost look white. If nothing else, you can tell the white cases apart because of the price tag. ;)

Hm, I wonder if that's why black is so darn popular for computers nowadays.

Not sure about the Q11R, but if it's anything like the Q08R here, it's pretty much a cross between a red and a pink. Still looks nice.

I suppose you could get the case and then buy the 9900 and see if it would work or not. If it doesnt send the 9900 back. Or find someone who has both case and HSF and tried it and take their word on whether it works or not. Thats the only definitive way to know for sure.

It isn't perfect but looks very promising. (Note: the heatsink pictured is the 9900NT, the fan is 120mm. the 9900MAX shares the same height as the other 9900's but the fan is 135mm, extending to the very edge of the fins.)

the motherboard in question.

Since the CPU socket is quite far from the back of the board, you might be able to rotate the heatsink 90 degrees (if the Zalman bracket lets you do that) and have it exhausting out the top 140mm fan)

im trying to build a NAS out of this, but are there any microATX boards that support 8 SATA ports?

I'm trying to go SB ( will wait for the bug to get fixed), but I've looked at AMD solutions too. Not bad.

6 seems to be a waste because with 1 for optical (I can try to exclude this), and 1 for system drive that leaves only 4 (or 5 if I trash the BD/DVD) for NAS, while this tower holds 7 internal drives.

Thus 8 would be perfect because that allows 1 optical drive and 7 HDDs still.

There are mATX boards with 8 SATA, such as ASUS Maximus 3 Gene (socket 1156). They haven't released one for Sandy Bridge yet but its in the works according to an ASUS rep on their forums.

Being a your going matx I would just get an add in card for the rest

Just ordered from Newegg. Looks like it's back in stock. Can't wait to build this!

i just ordered one too. now it says out of stock. i hope it went through. this is the only thing i need left for my build!

Yep, out of stock until the 14th. They didn't get many apparently. Luckily I'm not in a huge hurry because of the P6 recall.

update: luckily my order went through. i was worried for a bit. i got a tracking number and my v354 is on it's way!

just put together my p8p76m-pro build in this case and unfortunately the megahalem does not fit with this case and motherboard combintation. now i have to go find another heatsink... :(

Just an update, I have replaced the Intel HSF with a Noctua NH-U9B and the original 140mm fan with the a Noctua NF-P14. I've only got the NH-U9B in a push configuration as I was worried that installing the second 'pull' fan could create turbulence with the top 140mm fan.

With the Noctua installed, I get 36 degree on idle and about 55 degrees on load, using Prime95. When playing games (Far Cry 2), my CPU doesn't reach more than 43 degrees. This is at stock speeds by the way.

What motherboard do you have?

silver V354 back in stock right now (2/18 3:57pm PST) at Newegg. Just got the in stock notice. Black still OOS but I got mine already. Good luck!

My new build below. I went from a SG07 where the cooling just wasn't enough for me, so I had to go larger.

i7 2600k
Corsair H50
P8P67-M Pro
16GB Corsair Vengeance
160GB Intel SSD G2
EVGA GTX580 w/ Arctic Cooling Xtreme Plus
Corsair AX1200

I am getting pretty good cooling.. stock speeds so far: idle 28-29 / Load 49-51
As for the 580, I'm idling around 35 and folding around 57 and gaming around 60-63.

I plan to overclock both as I have plenty of headroom.

Can I ask what the noise is like in your system? I'm looking to put in the exact same Noctua fans and am curious. I want a near silent system!
Thanks

Update: Wow, just looked at your specs and I'm getting near the exact same hardware. 2600k, 16GB, P8P67-M Pro, GTX580, Intel SSD (510 series), but I'm going with the Antec HCP 1200 instead of the AX1200, and a Noctua NH-U9B instead of the H50 as I hear its a bit noisy. Got the same monitor too :-P

Any reason you guys are going with 1200w psu's with those setups? Seems a little excessive, but then again, this is [H] :p

What do you guys recommend for a good air cpu cooler for this case? I have a Coolermaster 212 plus coming in. Hopefully it'll fit. I plan on putting either a HD 6850 or GTX 460 in there. PS will be an HX 750. Mobo will be a Rampage Gene 3 along with an I7 930.

Thanks

To me the system is fairly quiet, but it sits a few feet away from me on the floor. Previously the loudest component was the 580 before the cooler upgrade. I also have a lot of background noise as I live in a pretty open condo. So I'm not sure if that is silent enough for you.

I'm going with the 1200W vs 850W due to my plan to add a second 580 in the future. I know 850W is enough, but it appears to be on the max for the 580SLI.

After waiting for it a month to come back from the powder coaters its finally done.

DFI X58jr
i7 920 DO
Prolimatech Megahalem
EVGA 460
6GB G.Skill pc3-1280
Coolermaster Silent pro 700W
120GB OCZ Vertex2 + 64GB G.Skill Falcon
not really happy with the temps dough. im reaching 65c after 20min of LinX on stock.

Alright, this thread is the best resource on the net. Believe me, I have read all the reviews but just people using this thing and posting here is outstanding. So here is my deal. I have been waiting for this case to come back in stock for over a month and a half. When it did, I was in time to grab one. So I receive the case and what do you know, Intel's SB goes and gets recalled. I have a little extra time to research now so here are my questions for the [H]orde:

-I see one of the preferred cpu coolers is the Noctua NH-U9B SE2. I am fine with that cooler but I really wanted to use a Coolermaster Hyper 212+. I prefer a bigger slower fan for airflow and the Coolermaster is just a great cooler for the money. I am worried about size though. I wanted to do a North/South orientation. Does anybody have a Hyper 212+ installed and can verify it will be a winner? Other suggestions based on my preferences?

-I have a Antec Earthwatts 500 watt psu that I just happen to get for a good deal that I plan on using. Problem here is that due to space the single bundle or wires appears to be a hassle. Are all of you using modular psu's happy that you went modular or is there enough space behind the hd's to stuff the extras? I am only building a server box so I won't need a monster psu.

-Fans. I am going to get rid of the blue fans on the front. I want it to be as inconspicuous as possible. Just sit there and spit out data. I was going to go with Scythe Gentle Typhoons to replace them because I have had great experiences with them before and with the built in fan controller I figure I can throw in the 1850 rpms and just dial them in. Maybe the 1450's to make sure I keep the 140mm fan in step as well. There are a million fans on the market but I just want a good mix of low noise with decent airflow. Opinions?

I have the NH-U12P SE1366 and it fits ok N/S, but I had to get a 120x12mm fan to avoid hitting the power supply. Looks like the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ would fit. I think avddreamr has one of those?

I don't have a modular PSU because I ran out of money when my last PSU fried without a backup computer. I just tuck the extra wires inside the bottom drive cage. To do it all over again, I would definitely go fully-modular; it would make installation/maintenance much easier.

The top fan spins at 900 RPM, front fans at 1200RPM. Like most people, I added a rear fan too. If you want to use the built-in fan controller, you'll probably need 3-pin extension cables for the front 2 fans.
