The OCZ Vertex 2 Conspiracy: Lost Space, Lost Speed?

Apparently the new 25nm OCZ Vertex 2 drives that have replaced the 34nm using the same SKUs have some problems that users should know about.

Some bullet points from the article are that they have less capacity (so they are incompatible in RAID) and that they perform worse and possibly don't last as long.

See the article for the full story, explanation, comparison, and benchmarks.

My bad, I didn't see that and I didn't realize the news had been around on the internet since the 15th.

Maybe the new Tom's article has some more good analysis of the issue.

Isn't saying "tom's article" & "good analysis" in the same sentence an oxymoron?

I don't think so. I happen to like Tom's articles and benchmarks.

I have seen people say they are bad a few times before, but I have never seen anyone give any evidence as to why they are bad.

Perhaps then you can give me an example as to why this SSD analysis is bad?

I'm going to agreed with SirMaster. I've gone to Tom's for reviews and benchmarks since I can remember working on computers. They typically have level information and methodology. Like most sites, they'll have a bad review or methodology once or twice per year, but that's about standard.

meh.. my experience with toms is that they are biased in a big way. I didn't read that SSD article nor will I, but I have read several CPU & GPU reviews there & they tend to always favor Intel or nvidia when every other site favors the other way on the same product.. If I want objective reviews I simply don't go to toms anymore.
