Killzone 3 leaked for PC.... er PS3

thse "leaks" are getting sillly. Does anyone still believe that the companies themselves aren't "leaking" crap, (other than the 'outrage' statement).

This is to be expected when the reviewers have had the game for a couple of weeks, so by the time launch-day arrives it would have been moving around in certain circles for around a month.

They've had it for longer than a couple of weeks. Heck, the review embargo lifted almost 2 weeks ago. They've probably had copies for a month or so already. It was actually surprising to see reviews of the game so many days before release. These days, the review embargo usually extends to launch day or maybe a couple of days before it.

Has to be a lie.

We all know that the PC is the wild west and a "wretched hive of scum and villainy" while the consoles are land of complete safety, milk and honey, and Shangri La.

P.S. For a console, it's a pretty impressive game. I had fun playing the beta. I wish some of these games would come to the PC.

The source code should be leaked so I could get a peek at how their wavetracing engine works.

For some reason leaked games are more enjoyable. It's just more fun when you're playing something you can't even buy yet.
Er...that is to say I'm sure it would be if I ever played a leaked game.

Agreed!! KZ3 on the pc would be a blast. With dedicated servers of course.

For some reason Consoles have been getting the nicer looking shooters as of late. Instead of the generic stuff pc gamers have been getting :(. They tend to look nicer too, would be sweet to see some of these games with higher res/textures.

Don't we all, I certainly would. The chance to play at much higher settings, play with potential mods, play with a keyboard/mouse as well as choice of controller. That's why I hope for if not a PC port, then at least emulation to catch up, for us to emulate 360/PS3 on the PC, like we can older consoles. However, that is years away, if even possible at all. :(

41Gigs in size.

Maybe that's a good way to stop pirating?
Make games freaking huge.

Stop? No

It would seriously cut down on the number of people downloading it though.

At my current connection speed 41Gb is about 2 hours downloading, when my line upgrade goes through in a few months it will only be about an hour of downloading :)

Another Destructoid article about the KZ3 leak this time...

Not to be outdone by their PC counterparts, it seems a number of PS3 gamers are following Crysis 2 up with a little round of Killzone 3 piracy. Unable to wait for a little more than a week, Guerrilla's upcoming first-person-shooter has been ripped off and spunked up on torrent sites across the 'net.

Keep it classy, guys!

People have been upset by this past week's look at PC piracy due to a lack of focus on consoles. Almost as if on cue, a number of console gamers have answered the call to try and prove they're as bad as anybody else. Well, congratulations on that count. Let us not think for a second that console gamers can't be complete shitheads too. Well done!

I guess we're going to see this more and more with the PS3, following the hacking that some dipshits claim was "just for homebrew." Look forward to more annoying Firmware updates. I can't wait for those to roll on down.

Of course, you can argue this "won't damage its sale" because it is Killzone, but that's the point. Big-name sequels are about the only things that publishers want to put out now, because they can survive crap like this. Welcome to the industry that we all helped create.

Whichever side you fall on in this debate, you have to admit, that's a pretty amusing article :p

I want to preserve this one comment from the destructoid rant on the crysis 2 leak for posterity:

Try living in Peru! Whole markets dedicated to pirate games, movies and music. It is so bad 360s and Wiis come ready chipped, out of the box, in fact my Wii and 360 are chipped, cos that was the only way to buy them. One market Polvos Rosados has probably 100 stores all selling pirate games. They have folders with covers, choose the game and they give you the game for 2 quid!

I have made this exact same observation in numerous threads discussing piracy, i.e. that download stats for console games are not a good indicator as to how rife the practice is because of the fact that in many third world countries (and even some developed countries) people do not need to download games. They just visit their local market and pick up games for $1 USD a DVD.

When I lived in South America I used to frequent those shops, games are priced by how many discs and which medium. 6 Pesos per Cd, 20 pesos per DVD (3p to 1u$d). Vs about 60 to 200 pesos at the one place that sold legitimate games

But even those stores sold their PS2's chipped right out the door.

Make games freaking huge.

Remember, it's not just torrenting that accounts for piracy. A lot of console/handheld games are sold on their respected media as well. It's makes PC piracy look worse because there is no way to account for counterfeit games.

Guys obviously the route of this problem lies with PC pirates because without PC's you could not even rip the games off the discs. The only logical answer is a complete ban on all personal computers.

How they heck they fill it up with that much data anyway

Surely none of the console can render super high res texture uncompressed

A lot of the nicer looking games are exclusive to one console and built in house from the ground up by people who know how to milk every ounce from that hardware, see KZ3.

It's funny how Crysis 2 was a top post on Joystiq, but this isn't. In fact, this may not even be news on any of the major tech blogs. Console games always leak before release date, granted not normally this soon.

The 41gig size is mainly videos, you got 2d video and 3d video.

They also fill it with junk data because of how crappy Blu-ray's are with transfer speeds. Many PS3 games have to fill discs with junk data because of this and thus the total disc capacity is not the true game size.

Xbox disc fill with padding junk but the ps3 is just game files.

It's a console game, that should answer everything for you (in case it doesn't, then anything built since 2007 onwards will have no trouble).

You don't say?! But if I rip out a bluray drive from a PS3 and hook it up to my PC then I should be able to run it fine right?

Dont worry guys, it wont hurt console gaming, piracy only hurts PC games developers according to Crytek....

Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community

Another golden quote from destructoid:
"If I were EA, I would actually pull the PC version of Crysis 2 right now."

Maybe Sony should pull Killzone 3 from the PS3 too? Jackass.

Believe it or not the PS3 really does still use junk files. The way that Blu Ray is structured it helps with read times which equal load times. Sony had problems with the first gen games and loading issues (hence why the installs are larger now).

Killzone 3 is probably some 15-20 gigs of movie files and maybe 8-10 gigs game. Rest is junk files in between.

Psh we all know the PC gaming community is plotting to leak every game out there for no real gain of any kind other than to destroy the industry , duh! :p

that must be why the console version of every multiplat release is uploaded weeks before pc on any tracker, it's a conspiracy I tell you.

haha wow, the stupidity of some people just blows the mind. let's get $0 for millions invested in dev time, someone might be able to play for free!

who needs a mouse/keyboard, when you can wave a lit stick around amiright?

BTW SP demo is out on PSN for non-Plus members, and I'm loving it.

Except for the stupid revive guns, they just look lame.
