New Afterburner 2.1 beta 7

Now my 6970's Core Clock OC cap is back at 750 Mhz. Already set UnofficialOverclockingMode in the ini file to 1 and I gained VCore control, but the core clock is still capped.

I had it up to 950 in beta 5. I thought this was how I raised the cap but I can't remember.

EDIT: Found this:

To enable unofficial overclocking in this version it is necessary to:

- Set UnofficialOverclockingEULA field to the following text: I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
- Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 to keep PowerPlay active (may not work on old ASICs), 2 to traditionally disable PowerPlay or to 0 to temporary disable unofficial overclocking path

From the release notes:

Changed way of unlocking unofficial overclocking on AMD graphics cards to make overclocking newbies think harder before enabling this functionality blindly and coming to support forums with fake bugreports

I might be totally off base here, but if the whole purpose of the program is to overclock/overvolt, why make it difficult? That's like selling a car and advertising that it will be terrible to work on. Maybe there are a lot of people using afterburner for non-overclocking purposes?

I only use AB to monitor the graphs for GPU use/temps/clocks, etc... I use CCC to overclock.

The problem is that Unwider is a whiny little bitch who can't handle the fact that his software is worthless for overclocking in Crossfire now, and that people have reported it as such. Harsh, but true. Report any failures in his software and he goes ballistic. Expect BSODs left and right, stuck 3D activity, and mismatched voltages if you attempt CF overclocking on a flashed or shader-unlocked pair of 6950s. When I reported these things matter-of-factly he had a conniption and vowed never to return to the Guru3D forums...maturity at its finest.

Far better off using RBE and Asus Smart Doctor to raise your core voltage and unlock the OC limit, and then you can use CCC to set OC and Afterburner to monitor.

As matrices said, Unwinder is a shitty asshole. Read some of his posts at Guru3d and you'll see what we mean.

Agreed, I love Afterburner but I'd never seen a grouchier guy on a tech forum in my life. I'm going to check this version out, I'm on beta 6.

Agreed, great software but he has no social skills at all and usually comes of as a complete nob. :D
