Disciple Lan, what cpu cooler are you using? I'm thinking of building a very similar rig to yours and I'm hopin the Noctua NH-D14 will clear the RAM. Thanks.

Looks like he's using the Cooler Master Hyper 212+, as is clearly stated in his post. :p

yeah the 212+. By the way, I canceled by my order for the Vengeance sticks and ordered some G.Skill Sniper sticks instead:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416

I was reading on here and elsewhere about how the 212+ would run into the heat sink on the vengeance (unless you gave up using the slot closest to the CPU, thereby hurting upgrade options in the future).

The sniper sticks have slightly looser timings but I saved 30 bucks and 'future proofed' (hah) my memory upgrade path.

I just placed my order on the Egg, I also had to cancel my Vengence order due to incompatability with the Noctua NH-D14 cooler. I went with G.Skill Ripjaws, I don't like the way they look (black and red with the Asus P8P67 Blue), but that's not a big concern.

Picked up a Core i5 2500k from Microcenter for $179 today and have the following on order:

ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
G. Skill Ripjaws 8gb 7-8-7-24
Noctua NH-D14 cooler

Will combine with existing components:

OCZ Vertex LE OS drive / Velociraptor 300 for games
2 x Sapphire 6950s in Crossfire (6970 bios, running @ 940/1450)
Corsair AX850 psu
Silverstone Raven RV02-E case

'

Neweg has the MSI P67A-C43 for the same price as the MSI P67S-C43 and it has 2 usb 3.0 slots. It may not be useful to you now but for the same price it wouldn't be bad to have the available if and when you do want/need them

I got the P67S-C43 at Superbiiz with the coupon for significantly less than Newegg's price.

i7 2006K
MSI P67A-GD65
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB SDRAM DDR3 1600

Keeping everything else.

CPU - i5 2500k ($224 Newegg)
HSF - Noctua NH-U12P SE2 ($75 Amazon)
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4 ($176 Superbiiz)
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 2GBx2 ($59 Newegg)
VGA - Gigabyte Radeon 6970 ($369 Newegg)
SSD - Intel X-25M G2 120GB ($199 w/ $35 MIR Newegg)
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB ($49 combo deal with SSD Newegg)
DVD - Samsung SuperMulti Sata 22X Lightscribe DVDRW ($18 Amazon)
PSU - Corsair 650HX Modular 650w ($119 w/ $15 MIR Newegg)
CAS - Silverstone Raven RV-02BW ($159 w/ $20 MIR Amazon)

Reusing Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard, Razer DeathAdder mouse, Razer Goliathus speed pad, Samsung 32" HDTV and Onkyo 5.1 Surround Sound system.

Coming from a C2D E6600, 160GB WD HDD, GTX 260 216core system it will be a huge upgrade. :)

Intel Core i7 2600k
Corsair H50
Asus P8P67-M Pro
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB
2x320GB Samsung Spinpoint F4 (RAID 0)
Corsair 650HX
Antec P180 Mini
3x Asus VE198T LED (Eyefinity)

Waiting on the release of the HD 6990 to replace my 5870...or I might pick up a non-reference 6970 once they come out if the HD 6990 proves too expensive.

The 6990 will be around $500 I'm guessing.

Thats what I'm hoping but in all honesty I could see it being upwards of $599 to $699. If thats the case I'll just stick with a single 6970 or unlocked 6950 (if the new revision doesn't permanently lock them).

I really, really, REALLY don't understand why people buy that kind of RAM. It has looser timings and requires more voltage than the G.Skill ECO RAM I got (1.35v DDR3-1600/7, FYI).

Me either... your ECO also has very nice, compact heatspreaders instead of tall ones that do nothing except cause heatsink clearance issues while costing the same (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231403 is the RAM). I paid $68 shipped for 2x4GB (8GB) DDR3 1333 C9 Mushkin. If I were to have wanted to expand the budget, I'd certainly have done basics like comparing voltage/timings to similarly-priced models, and looked for one without gaudy heatsinks like those as the first things I glanced at.

It's a good thing the closest Microcenter is 2.5 hours away. I'm so, so tempted....must resist until Socket 2011, must resist.

Intel Core i7 2600 (Yes Not K !)
Intel DP67BG
8 gb Crucial 1333/10600 1.5v
Noctua NH-U9B SE 2
Nvidia GTS 450
Corsair HX 650
WD Velociraptor 1500HLFS
Lian Li PC-V1000 Plus II
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
HP ZR24W

Microcenter was sold out of the 2600K's. I don't overclock and planned on the 2600 anyway.

Mines up and running just great! I don't run prime but idle temps are high 20's. The DP67BG is a very nice no-nonsense mobo by the way.

Just curious why you went for that Intel board when you are not OCing. There are much cheaper boards (e.g. H67 board from Intel).

Damn good upgrade. Though the old system is probably one of my faves of all time, i had the X2 4400 in a Shuttle with 2Gb RAM and 7900GT back in the day, loved it.

Old:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86ghz @ 2.6ghz
Abit AB9 Pro Motherboard
Powercolor ATI Radeon 4850 1GB
2X2GB GSkill DDR2-800
Mad Dog 500W Modular PSU

MSI P67A-C43 Motherboard
2X2GB Kingston DDR3-1333
CORSAIR CMPSU-600CX 600W PSU

Keeping the videocard, and my Antec SOHO tower that I have had for over 10 years. Should be a nice upgrade, I am pretty excited. I may get a Radeon 6850, but I will have to see how my games run first. I am going to wait for the Vertex 3 before I get an SSD.

Core i7 2600k
Gigabyte P67A- UD4
8GB GSkill Ripjaw 1600

Pulled the trigger yesterday from the egg....

Reusing my old 8600gt, enermax 500 80+, and raptor 300gb.

Daily computer duties plus video encodes....Rplacing my old q6600...never over clocked well...hoping for a whole lot more....

People who already own first gen i7's still bought Sandybridge 1155.....sigh.....

Yep, because games aren't the only things that run on a computer.

Just like with i7 920 vs. q6600 in games, we won't see the extra benefits as clearly even though it exists in some a little already, because of GPU bottlenecking. As faster video cards come out and the focus shifts back onto the CPU, the differences will be laughably large just as q6600 vs. i7 920 is now despite not being so in games near launch.

Just ordered a i7 2600k, a Asus P8P67 Pro, and 8 gb's of Corsair vengeance ddr 3-1600. I will be reusing my corsair H50 and my Evga Gtx 460 super clocked.
